Second disappointing meal. Splurged and ordered their most expensive $ 44 Choice Fillet. Ordered it MR. I couldn’t even get my fork in parts of it due to how overcooked and tough it was. My cosmopolitan drink was $ 11. Outrageously high prices. Green beans were soggy and tasted awful; drenched in oil. Prime bites were unattractive, not blackened as menu states, and huge pieces that you had to cut up; not bite size morsels they used to serve. Very spendy prices for a meal that didn’t rate in our experience. Dwayne, who appears to be some toe of management, was very loudly going to all the tables and we find him annoying and rude; especially telling servers they would get higher tips if they were prettier. Insulted us even to hear it directed at another woman. Not acceptable behavior. Or telling a woman who is breastfeeding that he wishes he were the baby. Rather offensive to hear as you are trying to enjoy a meal.

Perpetually disappointed with the food in Kenai, this place is no different. Rib eye with mushrooms & onions was bizarre breaded thing with gravy on top. Definitely not what I was expecting. Also ordered a rib eye special and they didn’t get the temp right on either steak. If you’re going to charge $ 30+ for a steak then please be able to cook to temp, a medium/well is much different than a medium rare. My steak was also just plain tough. By the time we got our food I didn’t care, I was hungry and wanted to eat. Next time we’re in town I’ll just hit up Burger Bus.

Portions are huge, and delicious. Great wait staff! Don’t miss out on the yummy bread. Be careful of dishes with shrimp — mine weren’t cleaned and I had to pass on 4 of them. And a little sand in scallops. Maybe an off night in the kitchen.

The fish and chips were very good. It had a nice local culture with a lot of hubting memorabilia on the walls. A little expensive but good fresh halibut

Dinner is expensive and ordinary. Lunch hot sandwiches are pretty good, mostly steaming meat. Fox News is always blasting in the bar area(prepare yourself for annoying political opinions) The Back Door, and people still smoke cigarettes inside. They have Framboise on tap — highlight for me. The bartender Mark is a likable guy.

The clam chowder is fantastic! The sourdough bread is good. The waitress was a sweet lady. Hence the three stars. BUT… some things you need to be aware of: first the food is very expensive. Appetizers were $ 20+ and entrée’s even more. If you are a razor clam fan don’t get too excited when you see it on the menu: the breading is gross enough to ruin the taste of the clams. It can kind of scrape off but not much. Calamari is usually a great option. Not here. the breading is so attached to the calamari it can’t be removed and tastes quite bland. It’s too bad, some great ingredients and ideas, it would be worth the price if they did it right.

So we decided to go to dinner, and we picked the perfect spot. I have never had a more perfectly prepared steak. I was really and pleasantly surprised at how well the lobster tail was prepared. It was huge, but cooked through and delicate textured all the way through. I have had rubbery chewy lobster– but not a Louie’s they nailed it. Have the clam chowder with the bread and skip the salad for a perfect dinner. The salad was fine, but that chowder, fresh creamy perfect. Our server was the nicest lady, they were busy– we got seated served and checked on quickly. Dinner arrived right after the soup and salad. Portions are huge. I will be enjoying a gourmet lunch today. Thank you Louie’s for a great dinner with my man. This was one of my favorite memories of this trip.

Our first time eating here and the food was great and loved the décor. Reason I give a 1 * is due to our first waitress attitude. She sat us at a table and walked away, I then asked another girl if we could move to a booth and she said no problem. At this point we had a new waitress. Whom was GREAT! Meanwhile the other waitress(ponytail, glasses and pink/black danskos) made comments about us moving to another server loud so we could hear not once but TWICE, and continued to give us dirty looks and stomp past our table the entire time making dinner a little uncomfortable. We will be calling tonight to let the manager know as well.

Insane prime rib. Definitely my favorite restaurant in Kenai, AK. Really friendly waitstaff, ridiculously good food. Why bother looking anywhere else? Brave the cold, it’s worth it.

Louie’s is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been going there for as long as I can remember with my family. My grandpa absolutely loves going here. The food is always wonderful. Can be a little spendy, but I haven’t been disappointed. I have had the occasional problem with some of the waitstaff having poor attitude or long wait times, but almost every time that has happened it was when the manager/owner was not there. When he is there he is always checking on the guests and making rounds to each table. Very few places still have management that works so diligently to monitor quality control and I appreciate that.

The food is fair, but if you are looking for something to etch a permanent memory in your brain I suggest going else where. The food is NOT horrible, but it’s not anything to write home about either. They do have huge portions and the wait staff are very pleasant.

This is the BEST place in Kenai to eat! They always make you feel like family! I went there today for my birthday and I was by myself. The wonderful waitresses Sheila and JoDee made my night wonderful by gathering the entire wait staff and owner to sing happy birthday. Thank you Louie’s for being soooooo amazing!!!

Always knew it was good food but always a bit over priced. Came in for the first time in years and found the breakfast awesome! Super friendly service, food was great!!! Still a tad pricey but totally worth it. Three meals and coffee and juice was $ 50 so not that bad. Had chicken fried steak. Best I’ve had in the state! Kids omelette and skillet was awesome. Their biscuit was awesome. It must have weighed a pound but was not hard in texture or hard to eat. Highly Recommend… but not for people on a diet!

While the food is good, not great, the service is lacking and the prices are crazy. Even for Soldotna, $ 24 for a calamari appetizer is just not what I would expect. The clam chowder was good and if the prices and service were better I might recommend this place to other people.

Old 80’s Steakhouse vibe. If you are from Tx you know what I mean. Clam Chowder was good. Halibut sandwich was good. Fries needed to be salted– no flavor. Burger was decent. Have not been impressed with any food in Alaska. But this one at least got 3 starts from me.

This review is with the caveat that I am from Homer, and we generally don’t go out to eat seafood(besides sushi) because we know how to do that ourselves. So, I have only ever gone here for burgers at lunch time while on shopping trips to this area. If you like fatburgers with heart-attack-inducing toppings, this is the place. My favorite(I think it is called the Louie burger?) is topped with ham, bacon, and bleu cheese. And the décor is old-school Alaskana, by which I mean snowshoes, old woodstoves, and above all taxidermy from floor-to-ceiling through the whole place. This is a look that used to be everywhere in AK, so it’s kind of a throwback, but in a good way. I have always found the service to be good, even when they are very busy.
