After reading Jennifer H’s review, I feel compelled to relate my very different experience with Spring Estates. Both my parents lived there, my father for three years in assisted living and my mother a year in memory care, and I was never dissatisfied with their care. We, too, had to move my mom to another facility after she fell, but it wasn’t Spring Estate’s fault – they are not a skilled nursing facility. Like most senior living facilities, they are licensed as a boarding home, and are not authorized to offer care above a certain level. It was made very clear when we decided on Spring Estates what level of care they were able to offer, and equally clear that if my mother’s needs exceeded that level, we would have to move her to a facility that could provide the care she needed. Until that point, they did everything they could for her in a loving careful manner. My dad’s situation was different; he remained in his assisted living apartment until his death. As he required more care, Spring Estates responded. Meds, bathing assistance, etc., all were clearly defined and provided at a reasonable charge. And at the end, the facility caregivers cooperated fully with hospice to make his final days as comfortable as possible. Such care isn’t cheap, but assessments were frequent and transparent, allowing us to make informed decisions about what services would be covered and how much they would cost. We never felt taken advantage of. Staff from Spring Estates attended both my parents’ memorial services, and they were a considerable comfort to me afterwards. I’m sorry Jennifer’s experience was so negative, and I hope she found a facility for her father where skilled nursing care could be provided – as we did for my mom. But Spring Estates did not let us down.
