Dave Grant has been a professional in the Network Design business for years. He specializes in radio dispatch consoles such as you would see in a 9−1−1 center or other types of communication and/​or call centers.
Dave and his staff have been in the business for a long time and as such are familiar with the old technologies as well as the new digital technologies. This made him the perfect fit for my particular business situation. I had need for some rewiring of a telephone and radio console. It seems approximately six years ago when I had this done by the original vendor they didn’t use stranded wiring. Which that might not mean much but when you have adjustable consoles and they move up and down via hydraulics things come unplugged. This usually means a myriad of service calls (job security by the first vendor? Who knows).
When Dave first came down to my office he asked for the as built wiring diagram and after hounding the original vendors for two weeks I got two sheets of paper with some colored in squares and no mention of any wiring. So, suffice to say he didn’t have a lot to work with.
Dave and his helper spend approximately two to three days completely rewiring my two consoles and I cannot believe how much better everything works. I have less complaints about items not working when the old wiring system had items coming unplugged constantly and it was such a rats nest underneath you couldn’t tell where things should be plugged back in. Dave took care of all of that as well as providing me with a small book of documentation so that if anyone needed to come in and had questions they could easily follow his diagrams. He marked everything in the radio rack and on the console so there is no question as to what items are and what they do. The documentation includes photographs to further document his work.
One of the best things about Dave is even though he is highly skilled and highly technical he doesn’t talk down to those of us who are less so. A very easy going guy to work with and the price was right for the amount of work I had him do. He will also admit when he doesn’t know something which is a different experience from any other radio technician I’ve ever used before.
Dave also teaches classes so that you can learn and trouble shoot some of your own problems in your radio console. I have done some of that troubleshooting and it was nice to have the training. He even has part of the class as hands on so you can try some of your newly learned skills.
Dave has worked with Telex and the C-​Soft console and has a good understanding of it.
I will continue to utilize and recommend Dave and staff to work on my radios and telephones.
