Normally I wouldn’t get on Unilocal to review a huge chain department store but I was left with no option. Yesterday, 1/14/16@3:15pm I went into the Macy’s Kenner location. I was looking for a fragrance. When I first got there, the store was nearly empty. When I got to the fragrance counter the Macy’s employee said she was busy with a customer. The customer apparently was opening a Macy’s charge account and was using the store landline telephone. I proceed with just looking at the fragrances on my own. Eventually I wasn’t being waited on so I decided to wander off to the rest of the mall. I returned to the store and decided to try again(since my car was parked by the Macy’s entrance). The sales lady did wait on me. She was a blonde early 30s woman. Couldn’t help noticing how unkept she looked and short answered she was. Definitely not someone who I’d like to buy a $ 100 bottle fragrance from or talk about Dior. Clearly she looked distressed and not wanting to be there. When another customer approached her for assistance she was swift to address she was busy with me. Same as when I approached her the first time. When that customer turned away, she made a disapproving gesture of annoyance. That’s when I had enough decided to leave the store. As I left, I asked another employee for the store manager’s name but that other lady interrogated trying to find out why I wanted that information. Avoiding any confrontations… I left the store but called from my mobile. Both times I was being transferred to the manager, I was hung up on. Best if the just closed the store down. Why continue to pretend to be a business?

Is the absolute worst Macy’s that I have ever been in in all of America. Customer service is extremely poor… It took 20 minutes just to do a check out and to pay off the bill. They need to get higher quality workers here as this was an absolutely atrocious shopping experience. We love Macy’s but will never ever return to this one again

This review is specifically for the beauty section of Macy’s at the Esplanade Mall. To put it simply, its lacking in every way. It’s nearly impossible to get anyone to help since they are severely understaffed in this department. I went to this Macy’s recently to try to purchase a Christmas present a little early before the Thanksgiving rush. It was a Saturday night around 6pm, perfect time for a little pre-Thanksgiving Christmas shopping, or so I thought. There were maybe 3 – 5 employees in the whole beauty section, and they are keen to ignore potential shoppers because they are more interested in talking to each other. I tried to ask one worker a question about a specific product, and she just said«I have no idea» and walked off. It’s entirely too frustrating to shop at this location even though it’s convenient and not nearly as busy as the Lakeside location. At least at the Lakeside Macy’s location the employees are more than happy to assist you with whatever you might need. Here at the Esplanade location is just not worth the time and frustration you will spend IF you can get anyone to actually help you.

I don’t know why this Macy’s has very few stars from other Unilocalers. Here are my two cents: When they have store deals, you can get amazing discounts on normally very high-priced clothing or kitchen appliances. For example, if you hit the time right and match it with the in-store coupons for an extra 20% discount, you can walk away with some extraordinary deals. It’s always very quiet and much less stressful than its Lakeside counterpart where you have to wait in long lines and deal with other shoppers. The customer service here is good for the most part, minus several employees. I can shop, browse around, and relax without the hype and stress than at Lakeside. Highly recommended.

It offers a fraction of what the Lakeside location does and makes me even more resentful that Macy’s reused to return to Orleans Parish.

Macy’s in the Esplanade is a welcome gem compared to fighting Lakeside crowds, it’s peaceful and you still get the benefits of the sales. A win win!

I totally heart Macy’s now! I have found more cute stuff to wear there lately! If you haven’t given Macy’s a look in a while, try it again. The new stores are arranged differently than they used to be. It takes a bit getting used to, but it is worth the effort. BTW, I hate, hate, hate to shop. I wish I could afford a professional shopper. But, since I can’t, I’ll take shopping at Macy’s!
