I guess I like novelty. When my wife and I entered every head turned to look at the Anglos. They spoke a little more English then we did Spanish and it worked out ok. The room is very plain there is a party room in the back and the food was ok — I find La Pena up by the car dealer has better food — this place has a different style of food; for example we had an avocado salad that featured a lovely arrangement of avocado slices but they were not as flavorful as they could be. We had a combo fajita that was fine nothing outstanding and we got a bit of a cool dip that had crab stick and other stuff along with homemade chips as a complimentary starter… It’s ok and it’s BYOB but I think Kennett Square has better to offer.

The first thing that hit me… the smell. And, it was a good smell, of grilling, charred deliciousness. As the person who told me about El Riconsito advised me, «this is where REAL Mexican food it». An unassuming spot, attached to a series of warehouse buildings including the Kennett Beverage Beer Distributor, this place is a hidden gem. There is basically one big room with a few booths and a few tables. Just next to this space is the kitchen that you can partially see some activity. To start, our server dropped off some homemade picante sauce, chips and a red cabbage«slaw» with chunks of crab in it, lightly dressed. Oh man. I could not stop eating this stuff. The menu has plenty of choices, but the specialty is various meats to choose from. I ordered the gorditas, one beef and one seasoned pork(pastor). When my plate came out, I was immediately struck by the homemade gordita shell holding my protein goodies. Truly, these were the best gorditas I was about to ever eat. The pastor was particularly good. I’m anxious to repeat my visit and work around the menu. This spot is a worthwhile five star rating for food alone. And, even makes me re-think my ratings on some of my other favorites.
