As I said below my favorite stable out of the the 6 I’ve been to. Wonderful teachers and horses. My favorite little ponies name is butchie. And love a horse named Dollar. Everything here is wonderful.

Always accommodating at the last minute! I love the horses and the trail rides. The woman who runs the place seems really organized and runs a decent business! Hopefully, we will come for a trail ride next week!

Bought a groupon awhile back for an hour trail ride for two people. I’m a city girl, born and rise. My best friend is from Lancaster so whenever we go back that way, I still shout«horsey» or «cow» or «amish» everytime. And I mean everytime. So, when I saw the deal, I thought why not, I’ve never been on a horse n it’ll be a great experience. I was extremely excited when we made reservations to the point of hopping up and down in my seat driving there. As soon as I saw the horse I was going to ride, I nearly ran. He was huge! Like he wasn’t a horse you’ll see in the city pulling those carriages, no, this horse could put them to shame. They asked me if I wanted to brush my horse, his name was popeye, but I refused to budge from my friend’s side staring wide eyes at the horse. The owner came out and said Popeye is a professional, they let the little children ride him and he’s gentle. I was not convinced. He was huge! She than decided to grab his tail and pull on it, I thought she was a goner, but no Popeye didn’t even bat an eye! So, after climbing the steps and being very weary of him, I got aboard. He was extremely sweet. The workers there made sure I was comfortable and we went through the basics. The trail we took wasn’t paved or anything, stones and branches were on the ground but the horses were fine. We did a little of trotting but Popeye was tired cause it was extremely hot so we held a steady pace and enjoyed the scenery. Our guide was extremely nice and told her about the area and we chatted about everything. After the ride, I assumed I would be sore but I wasn’t. We than gave them a nice rinse and helped scraped the water off of them. The horses were so sweet and nudged their head against us so we can pet them. I would advise making reservations during the cooler seasons. It’s great for the kids and for the couples! We enjoyed ourselves and hope to do the trail again in the fall or spring :) it made me really want a pet horse again… I doubt my neighbors would be too keen on it.

Gateway Stables is located along the Pennsylvania and Delaware border. The owner Marie, is extremely vibrant and definitely a character. I participated in a trail ride with my mother. It was an amazing experience mainly because of the our lovely trail lead, Tracy and the scenic and serene riding center. The trail was very rustic and aromatic. We rode through several different wooded areas and meadows. The staff was very accommodating, they even offered to take several pictures for us while mounting the horses. I definitely will return in the autumn. Be sure to call and make a reservation.
