I’m not sure why Honada doesn’t have a higher rating average. I’ve never had their tepan, but their sushi is spot on. I’ve never had anything other than too quality sushi here. I travel for a living, and have been in this area every summer for 19 years. Honada is where I go, and I assure you, I am a sushi snob. I’ve eaten sushi all over this country. Honada is good, fresh, authentic sushi. Every time. Period.

We have been here before and the food was consistent and good. This time we both had the filet habachi. The meat smelled bad and tasted worse. We both left nearly all the meat on our plates but the waitress and manager were indifferent. It is bad when you get home from a dinner hungery and wanting to rinse the taste out of you mouth. We won’t be back.

I have been here about four times and the first three times were fantastic.(We sat at the hibachi tables each time.) this most recent time was inexcusably a bad experience. My partner and I were sat at one end of a u-shaped table along with two other couples. At the other end, was a large party of about 8 – 10. When the chef came out, he began putting on his show on the side of the table with the large party. I was assuming that he may also use the other range in front of our side of the table, but the chef continued to only utilize the range on the opposite side of the table as us. We could hardly see anything because the chef’s back was to us the entire time. We also got a third the amount of food as we received on our previous visits. I just thought this was very lazy and displayed a lack of care to smaller parties like us. I will very likely return here again, but I suppose I will need to specify that I do not want to watch the chef’s back all night.

My first time here a few years ago I had rude — horrible service at hibachi grill. The cook was a total @sshole. The waitress was just fine. Anyway I refused to go back for a very long time. In early 2015 I reluctantly went back. Everything was good. So I gradually went back more often because I like sushi… and it is great here. I am now there once a month for sushi or the hibachi grill. I have never had another complaint or slightest problem. It is in my top five places to go! I have not seen that hibachi cook from the first time ever again. An example of how one employee can harm a business.

Ive been here a few times and it seems everytime something is below par. 1 x I had under cooked rice, 1x waitress got my order wrong and wasnt willing to fix it, tonight our cook walked off while food was cooking, we were told he felt ‘uncomfortable’ not sure why everyone at the table was pretty subdued and respectful. Meat all became over cooked while they looked for a different cook to take his place.

My boyfriend and I are avid sushi eaters. We’ve gone a variety of places in the area between Milwaukee and Chicago and this one is by far the WORST. We decided to go there for their sushi lunch special today. The restaurants overall appearance looked clean and well maintained. We ordered and waited an average amount of time for our food. Our orders came and mine was completely wrong. I politely waved over the waiter over and explained this wasn’t my order. He proceeds to argue with me saying that I was wrong and this was actually my order. He refused to change it claiming the sushi he gave me was«better» than the sushi I ordered anyways. I decided to be a good sport and try the sushi. It was horrible. The salmon on one of the rolls looked gray. The roll, over all, tasted like snot. Worst of all, I now have a horrible stomach ache from whatever was in those terrible rolls. I don’t consider myself an overly picky person when it comes to restaurant service and food, but this was ridiculous. I will definitely not be going back.

This place is the only place I know that charges you for refills. Who charges refills? I’m sure you guys make enough money on the overpriced sushi you sell that’s not even that great.

This is probably the best sushi in Kenosha(not that that it saying a whole lot). We like eating here because I can get my sushi fix and my husband can get something he likes. I usually get the Philadelphia roll and spicy tuna and California roll. All are very good. They also have good tempura. We never have to wait for a table, even on Friday night and service has always been great. It’s a little on the pricier side for what you get. Otherwise I’d probably give it 5 stars.

I’m not a sushi eater but I can recommend the hibachi filet. I eat here frequently, don’t know how many times I’ve stopped by but it’s in the dozens(if not over a hundred, honestly). This place is fairly close to my home which makes it convenient for me to visit. Most people living in the actual city of Kenosha will find Honada to be a bit of a drive. I have heard that the sushi is good but I order bits of filet with a side of fried rice and their mushroom soup. The hibachi is really good, the rice is almost always cooked to my liking, and the mushroom soup is incredibly simple and tasty. Honada is a great, quick, and quiet place to grab lunch or dinner. Come early in the day for lower(lunchtime) prices, they do take credit cards, and the staff is all very friendly.

Nothing special here. Their sushi is always a bit heavy on the rice, and they don’t provide a brown rice alternative. There fish offerings are always very limited. Box meals are OK, but the sushi selection offered always centers around salmon and tuna. Basic, basic, basic. Beverages are over priced. But what really pisses me off, are restaurants that charge for soda refills. Honadas will screw you over and over in charging for those refills. There is no excuse to not provide free soda refills, other than greed. For the price of sushi, free refills won’t break the bank Honadas. Stop screwing your customers by changing full price again and again, on a product that costs you very little. This is another reason I’ve given up on your establishment. An annoying occurrence is the corny, prerecorded Happy Birthday music they play over their speaker system. It is absolutely the stupidest birthday music I’ve ever heard at a resturant. And they crank the volume so you must stop your conversation until it finishes playing. Just make it go away. It’s beyond ridiculous. Net-Net: There is a new Meijer store a very short drive east of Honadas. The Meijer sushi is just as good, and the pricing blows away Honadas. Your call. For me, I’ll drive past Honadas going forward.

I hate these chinese owned & operated sushi joints. Not one japanese person on staff.

Shrimp Sushi was excellent 4⁄12 stars and Hibachi Chicken was also very nice. Excellent Service. Soup was very bland, but I guess who cares of the other food is that good. I will be back for more Sushi!

Meh. For Kenosha, decent sushi. For sushi, blah. Rolls were a little dry, and the miso soup was super salty.

I’ve been happy whenever I come here. Is it the best sushi restaurant? Probably not, but I’m ok with that. Everything I’ve had tastes good & the lunch specials are priced right. The hibachi is a bit overpriced, but I understand you’re paying for the show/atmosphere. Prices are pretty typical for sushi. This is far and away a better option than grocery store sushi if you get a craving.

This is the only Japanese cuisine in the Pleasant Praire/Kenosha area so every time we have cravings for sushi or sashimi, we dine in this place. Sushi is good, varied selection and choices. I have to remind ourselves though not to order steak anymore. It’s rubbery and for the price of the Bento Box I could go to the neighboring Japanese cuisine in the Gurnee(Illinois) area, same price but GOOD quality. One comment that may seem trivial but it’s important to note is they should avoid cleaning(& spraying chemicals) while there’s dining customers in the next table. Smelling the spray while dining is a big factor in losing your appetite.

I’ll keep this simple, as there’s not much to say. This is the best sushi in the area. It just is. Their lunch specials are so generous, I’m not quite sure how they can stay open. They have the best ginger salad dressing of any sushi place I’ve ever been to. They have bento boxes that make Asian food easy and convenient for rookies or squeamish types, so going in a group is ideal here. I’ve never had the hibachi, but I’m sure it’s fine. Check out the Green Bay Packer roll. It sounds stupid, but it’s really great!

The food was OK, just OK but there was a staple in my wife’s salad! The sushi rice is made wrong(no vinegar). The only redeeming quality of the place was the waitress was very nice, fast and friendly. I doubt we will ever go back, however.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write a review about Honada considering how much I love it! For a city the size of Kenosha, it is sorely lacking in sushi options. Honada is farther out from the city center(between I-94 and Green Bay Road on Highway 50), but it’s worth every penny of gas money! I’m pretty picky about my spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls and Honada’s are phenomenal. Lunch specials are a great deal and are always fresh and flavorful. Honada even cured me of my dislike of sashimi! I really don’t have anything bad to say about Honada. When I lived in Kenosha, the waiters knew me by name, which is either really cool or really embarrassing. I don’t make it to Kenosha much anymore but, when I do, I make it a point to stop for lunch(or get take out) from Honada.

I’m not a sushi snob but this place is just OK. We tried several of their rolls and found them to not be very fresh and to have WAY too much sauce on them. You could barely taste the fish through all the mayo sauce. It kinda grossed me out. Service is very friendly and the restaurant is spacious. I would probably just take a trip to Chicago if the mood strikes me for some good Sushi!
