My uncle & aunt were in town from Washington state and we decided to go to Mangia as I’ve heard such good things about it. Thus was our first visit. It lived up to their reputation! We enjoyed every bite and the servers were super attentive. We started with antipasto platter with cheese, prosciutto, olives, honey and hummus with homemade bread and rosemary flat bread that was outstanding! I’d go back just for the flat bread! Everyone enjoyed their entrees as well. My uncle had pork belly, aunt had homemade gnocchi, hubby had homemade lasagna and I had the home made tagliatelle Della Nonna 3.0 which is braised pork with San Marzano tomatoes red wine with tagliatelle pasta. All the entrees were excellent tasting and made with fresh ingredients. For the prices though I thought the portions were somewhat small. We sat out in the patio that was just ok with plastic chairs and it felt like the patio needed a good cleaning — next time we will choose to sit inside. Can’t wait to go back and try additional menu items.

Normally I would give this place higher stars, we have only had good food here but I am rating this on the last two experiences. The last experience was great food, but the waitress had a martini shaker that was leaking everywhere and when she shook it, it got all over her and all over us. She said she asked them to get a new one but they didnt care. Then today, mothers day– we did not have a reservation, which the hostess seemed weird about– but we just asked to sit outside which was totally empty and she said it would be about a 10 minute wait to be seated outside. Why? No clue. But when we sat down we saw they had a prefix 3 coarse menu– and we just wanted to split the pizza and have a cocktail, which was on the menu, so they were making it anyway, but they rudely said they couldnt serve the regular menu so we left and the manager just kind of laughed at us and sad sorry. They also did not care to change their website because I looked at it before I left. I am still not sure if we are going back. Being denied service is pretty rude.

We had returned after a two year hiatus and were impressed with the menu changes. Food was well presented and prepared. We had the gnocchi & asparagus and the pork dish. Salads were good as well. Both very good. They appeared short staffed as the wait was long after being seated and between courses. The provided bottled water was an odd presentation as it was city water(chlorine aroma). We did not have desserts.

This is the best restaurant in Kenosha. From pizza to fish and steaks, everything is amazing. They have great soft serve ice cream too. Absolutely LOVE this place.

This restaurant has fine Italian Cuisine with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Was the place to bring visitors from out of town to enjoy a very good exquisite meal and good conversation.

We only get up in this area once a year and we always make sure that we are going to stop here to eat. Always. We started with one of their wood burning oven pizzas. Forgot what they called it on the menu, Magic forest or something like that but it was basically a mushroom pizza. Now, I love mushrooms. I love pizza. To me, this is a perfect thing. This pizza delivered. Excellent crust, excellent mushrooms, and a perfect balance of ingredients. Balance is everything when it comes to pizza. See the pics. Also sampled a salad of brussel sprouts, beets, and wood burning oven chicken. Better than it sounds. Also had tagliatelle with slow roasted pork. Very good. Talking with the host, I found out that they have been in business 27 years. Wow! Incredible life span for a restaurant. You need to be doing many, many things right for that type of longevity. I have been coming here for about 20+ years at least. Once again everything was great. If you are anywhere near the area, you need to check it out. Cheers to All

I was excited to eat here but was disappointed. The chef apparently has cooked for the president and some other famous celebrities according to the menu so I thought we were going to be in for a treat. Not so much. I had some pasta in a white sauce that was so bland it was like eating nothing. My husband disliked his food too. The service was fine but the food was so bad that I don’t want to risk coming back especially because it was pricy.

Always a upscale, pleasing meal. The menu is innovative without being pretentious. Great wine list and cocktails. Do not go if you’re watching your pennies, it can get pricey.

A friend told us about this place so we decided to check it out. We went on a Tuesday night and enjoyed our meal. Wine was ½ price so that was a nice bonus. We loved the salted caramel ice cream and tiramisu, both were great.

This place is fantastic. In from Chicago and this was one of the top 10 meals I’ve ever had. Salmon was killer. The best dish at the table had to be the ravioli with brown butter sauce. Kaleb our server was outstanding! Go here if you get the chance!

We came for dinner late on a Saturday evening. The inside is very unique and had a very vintage feel — which I love. Dress is casual– nice jeans and blouse/sundress would be appropriate. The service was absolutely wonderful, friendly, and punctual. Needless to say, we LOVED our food. They had the best salmon I have ever had at a restaurant, and the meatball appetizer is a MUST. I highly recommend this as a dinner destination.

Excellently designed menu with excellently executed dishes at an excellent price. All the food here is well-thought out with both flavors and textures that help to excite and surprise the palate. The flavors will be mostly familiar but contain just a little twist to help make it memorable and delicious. Do not miss the Tuscan Foie Gras & Chicken Liver Spread as a starter. The spread is delicious and comes in a generous jar sized portion that pairs perfectly with the crostini. The Amarena cherries are perfect to balance the strong savory flavor of the liver. The pizzas have a strong flavor to the dough, which is meaty in texture and lightly charred. The fior di latte has a very fresh and almost meaty texture to it, which excellently matches with the dough. Gnocchi contains hearty potato dumplings with a very creamy rioccota sauce with a nice salty flavor provided by the proscuittio that is tempered nicely by the sweetness of the spring peas. Tagliatella Della Nonna 2.0 contains perfectly al dente pasta paired with tender to the fork braised pork. Mangia Burger has a very flavorful mix of chuck, sirlion, and short rib meats that is flavorful, tender, and moist. This strong meat flavored was balanced perfectly by the delicious tomato aioli and fior di latte. The chips have an interesting flavor of sweet, salty, bitter, and sour at the same time. The meal finished with an excellent tiramisu which was fluffy and bursting with flavor. I’ll definitely return here on my next visit to Kenosha due to the great food and prices this restaurant has to offer.

Just had the patio burger. Mangia is doing burgers on the patio. Had the double was really good. Almost to much to eat. Over a half pound. Cooked on a charcoal grill. Will do this again. They are only doing it for the summer.

I have been coming here for over 20 years. We have never been disappointed. I love to bring guests from out of town especially when they are from some very foodie cities. Brought some folks from Seattle in this week and they absolutely loved the woodfired pizza. One of my friends said the lamb chops were the best they’ve ever had in the country. Three of us enjoyed the pasta with braised pork. It doesn’t get much better. I was also pleasantly surprised on a Wednesday night with a wonderful four piece jazz band. Don’t miss this jewel of Kenosha.

Nice little Italian restaurant that is worth driving a bit out of the way for. When we were looking for a good place to eat after spending a day in Milwaukee, the idea of eating in Kenosha hadn’t crossed our mind, but leaving a little late changed our plan so the hunt was on. We are huge admirers of Chef Tony, especially Spiaggia, where we have had 2 anniversary dinners since we have gotten married. Throw in River Roast, another fantastic place, how could you not want to try Mangia? First off, the service was excellent and the food was very good. Our server was extremely courteous and she did her best to meet our demanding needs. Never once did I have to ask for a refill on my water, thank you! If there was a fault, it was that the service was a bit slow, but it was Memorial day weekend night and it was getting quite full. We started with the Tuscan Foie Gras & Chicken Liver Spread. Wow! Amazing! Be sure to ask for more bread because you will easily go through the 4 pieces they initially give you. Our server brought another 2, I would agree with her assessment. The rhubarb jelly adds so much to the already delicious Foie Gras and Chicken Liver Spread. Highly recommend it! For dinner, my wife ordered the gnocchi and I went for the Tagliatelle Della Nonna 2.0. Both were pretty good, though I would have to say that the Spiaggia gnocchi blows Mangia’s version out of the water, but you really can’t compare the two. The gnocchi was still good and tasty, as was my dish. I would be happy to order either the next time we come in, but I always want to try a new dish, so my recommendation will have to suffice.

Catching up on reviews this weekend! This one is way overdue. I recently attended a Morel Mushroom dinner here. It was a wonderful evening of Food, Friends and Fun! 1st Course The evening started with two passed appetizers paired with Voveti Prosecco. The first was a Morel, Pickled Ramp and Gorgonzola Pizza. Mangia’s Wood Burning Oven created the perfect crust to hold three amazing ingredients. One of the best Pizzas I’ve had! The Bruschetta had Clock Shadow Creamery Ricotta, Morels and Aged Balsamic Vinegar. This great little bite was a classic combination of tastes and textures. Creamy Cheese, Crunchy Bread, Earthy Mushrooms and Sweet, Rich Balsamic. I easily could have made a meal of these two memorable bites alone. The Prosecco was bubbly, sweet and had hints of peach and apple. It was a perfect way to start our night! 2nd Course Strauss Veal and Morel Polpette. 2012 Hofstatter Pinot Nero. A Rich, Tender Meatball in a Decadent Veal and Mushroom Gravy Garnished with even more Morels! This dish was the culinary equivalent of a hug from your Grandma. Comforting, Warm and Memorable! The wine was mellow and easy to drink. It was the favorite of the night at our table. 3rd Course Gnocchi, Morels, Sweet Pea Brodo, Wisconsin Parmesan. 2013 Tedeschi Valpolicella. My Favorite of the night! Handmade Pasta Pillows in a perfect sweet pea broth matched perfectly with the star of the night, of course, Morels. Presentation was another key factor with this dish, as the beautiful green broth was poured over a mound of Gnocchi, Morels and Micro-Greens at our table. The wine was medium bodied with cherry and berry notes that went well with the food. 4th Course Morel Braised Short Ribs, Taleggio Polenta, Herb Salad. 2010 Viberti Barolo. Lusciously tender meat, Cheesy Polenta and a bright, crisp Herb Salad. This was decadent end to the savory portion of our meal. Barolo’s are my favorite Red Wines and this was one of the best I’ve had. Deep and Rich with hints of raspberry and cinnamon, this was a perfect pairing! Dessert Vanilla Panna Cotta with Rhubarb and Candied Ginger. A perfect, light sweet ending to a great meal. The Rhubarb and Candied Ginger added an interesting twist to a classic dessert. Chef Jason Gorman, Sommelier Christian Damiano and the staff at Mangia made this tribute to Morels a night to remember. I cannot wait to come back!

M’lady and I came here for a Valentine’s Day dinner, and man was it out of sight! A couple of roses, a bottle of wine & a super meal followed shortly after. We started with shrimp bruschetta that was an absolute smash! Bright, lightly spicy, and a perfect springboard for the rest of the meal. M’lady had a bowl of the gnocchi that she seemed more than pleased with. I ordered a bowl of the beef bolognese tagliatelle — which was impossible to stop eating. I wanted to stop, I promise. Dessert was hard to eat, but only because we were so stuffed. It was truly a memorable night of great food, with my favorite person. I hope to go back and make more yummy memories, sooner than later.

I don’t care where I am in the world — I have to eat a delicious meal. Does Kenosha realize that top Chicago Master Chef Tony Mantuano has a restaurant there?! WHOA. Someone may or may not be a little jealous! When I’m in the area, I come here for dinner to feast on gnocchi or wood-fired pizza. I have to throw in another WHOA in there, because there really is something special about a hot-from-the-wood-fire-oven pizza. I’ll admit it: I don’t share, because I’m too busy chowing down on something so tasty(Recs: Nonna’s Meatball or Salsciccia). The gnocchi is also pretty good… ALMOST melt-in-your-mouth good, which is the true test of an all-star gnocchi(aka this is the only detail that prevents me from giving Mangia five stars). To sum it all up, Mangia is a MUST, whether you’re in town or just passing through. Get here now!
