I think the actual name is under the spelling Cornucopia days but since there are already photos here I’ll join the crowd. There are quite a few events surrounding these«Days» but this review is for the neat street fair right in downtown Kent that draws a large crowd of all types. You get your typical street fair vendors and food, some live entertainment, and even a parade. It’s fun! I like the extra stuff that other fairs don’t have, like the small carnival a few blocks down, and the proximity to the water fountains — a great opportunity for the kids(and adults!) to take a break from the heat. There is a lot of eye candy here for all ages, just like any street fair in Seattle. And hosting it in downtown Kent is genius. I have to say that of all the south-end suburbs, Kent seems to have the best sense of community and events like this are a shining example. Nice job, city. A little tidbit to leave you with: did you know that Kent is the 6th largest city in Washington? Whaaaaat?! I know. Surprised me too.

All the years I lived in Kent Washington, I never knew about Cornocopia Days which apparently has been going on for several years usually in July. I was driving over to the Kent Station shopping area when I noticed a major area of the town shut down to through traffic, tents pitched, stages set, food all over the place and people coming out of your ears. It took me a while to find parking so I went to the parking garage over by the courthouse not far from that big concert entertainment venue(at a loss for the name at the moment) and walked to the event. It’s free to park and free admission. No rides but they do have a small petting zoo for kids. They have art of all kinds from inexpensive to out of reach, food, self care products, crafts, things for the home, jewelry and some great food. The majority of the vendors are from Washington state with a sprinkle of Astoria Oregon and other areas. The police, fire department of other services also had a block dedicated to their services and were able to provide information to the public. BTW, security was excellent. The local law enforcement was everwhere. If you had to use a port o potty, they were all over the place. Lucky for me it was early in the event and cool outside when I had to use one. You know how they are on a hot day… eech! It’s really a large event and worth going. I had lunch, bought a couple of things, got some freebie goodies for my sisters dogs and got a good walk. It sure beats sitting around. This makes me want to move back up to Kent. :)
