J & E Filipino Store

I used to come here often to take home dinner since its so close to my home in Des Moines. If it was during the evening, for lunch or something to take out on the weekend there was always a consistancy of great fresh food available. Also there was a good party selection entrees to choose from and they would would have them ready even on holiday mornings which was great. Nothing beats taking Lumpia to church on New Years day or Easter day. Well that was then.
Over a year ago, maybe two there was a change in ownership. Never was the same. Sometimes I would come on back to back days and I swear I saw the same dishes from the day before. And it looked dryer. Not good. Also I had to point out some mold in there pandisal bread. I never came back until recently. Nothing really changed :(Probably wont be back again. Sorry.

Hubby loves dinuguan so of course we needed to look no more at the menu at J & E. If I hadn’t already eaten next door at Saimin Says, I would have gone for the ginataaan langka. The store has 3 tables for you to eat in and the requisite tv with the TFC on. Magnolia ice cream in the freezer, bags of chicharrones from Bulacan, and Filipino sweets on the counter means we’ll be back.
