Best muffins in the world. Everything is good at this place. We go there whenever we are in the area.

I LOVE this spot. A must stop if you are in the Kent area for lunch. Plenty of outdoor seating(on a sunny day like today, even in November, it’s perfect). Tons of sandwiches and baked goods and lots of seating. Great service as well! There is always a group of ‘regulars’ — old men talking about how this generation just doesn’t understand anything. Adds to the charm if you ask me. Today I ordered the vegetarian curried chickpea flatbread and it was phenomenal. It’s served with a fork and a knife because they understand what a mess it makes! I’ve also had the grilled cheese with Granny Smith apples in the past that was also fantastic. Seems like you can’t go wrong!

This is my all time favorite lunch spot! My husband and I found this a years ago when we were on a motorcycle ride and we’ve been coming back ever since. The grinders are amazing and I’ve never been disappointed. Everything about their food is fresh and the quality is there. We love to sit at the tables outside and watch all the bikes and nice cars drive by.

There’s just something about their egg and cheese on a hard roll, no other place compares!

Cute store/restaurant vibe with outdoor seating. I’ve been coming to Kent my entire life and never stopped in. Now I’m looking back on 28 years fighting an overwhelming sense of regret for not eating here sooner! The chicken cutlet apple melt is incredible! I was in between the carne asada taco and pulled pork sandwich and while I’m sure those are great, I know I made a great call. I don’t typically like mustard, but the honey mustard on this sandwich paired so well with the shaved apples. Just the right amount of cheese and fresh brioche makes this an unforgettable chicken cutlet. My wonderful wife had the salad special: a melon, prosciutto, burrata salad. Today’s married-life lesson of the day — we really love burrata cheese. They even used different types of melon which brought so much added flavor and variety to the salad. Amazing value for outstanding sandwiches!!!

Great in and out low-key eating spot with to-go as the mainstay and catering close behind. The homemade English muffins were the most impressive, especially if couple as a breakfast sandwich. I also thought the classic New England atmosphere was a nice treat!

Fast and delicious. Bagels were tasty and they have very high quality coffee. $ 6 for a breakfast sandwich on a bagel is pretty pricey though.

Everything is fresh and tasty – sandwiches are delicious, and the treats are even better. We’ve been 5 or 6 times and never had anything we didn’t like. We’d go more often, but we live in Brooklyn. Some faves: Beet salad with baby spinach, fried parsnips, and sunflower seeds Philly cheese steak(a bit more like a French dip) Current $ 5 special turkey, bacon and avocado Espresso chocolate cookie(smoky, with a nice salty-sweet finish) Everything is made with care. Service is impeccable – friendly and attentive. I can’t remember the last time I went to a place where the entire staff was friendly. Checkout the incredible beer/food pairing for $ 38 on Wednesdays. They could fetch $ 80 for that in Brooklyn, if not more. Kent is a cool destination – falls, sculpture garden, chocolate shop – totally worth the trip.

Ordered the sausage egg and cheese sandwich. Cheese was gooey, sausage had some bite, and the roll was soft. Great breakfast sandwich, good atmosphere, so much food to try!

We stopped by here on our way back from the Berkshires. We picked up two sandwiches and ate inside. We had turkey, bacon, chipotle mayo on a roll. It was good, but a bit too salty. I know, hello, you have bacon. The roll did not taste particularly fresh. We also had the prosciutto, mozz, and pesto on a ciabbata roll. Tasty. The sledgehammer coffee was nice and strong.

Fabulous food and service! Best food in the area! I go at least a couple times a week, esp for their delicious(addictive!) breakfast sandwiches and lunch! Their muffins also are equally addictive and baked on the premises. The service is always very kind. I was particularly impressed by their cheese and ice cream selection… having some of my favorite cheeses from Northern California and an incredible fresh mozzarella, as well as several local ice creams. Great smoked bacon and meats on premises.

Decent food, but overpriced. We ordered the Caesar burger and the chicken cutlet sandwich. The chicken cutlet was burnt. Wish they would have asked me to wait a little longer and remade it instead of serving an obviously overdone piece of chicken. Went out of necessity. Will probably try one of the other local places next time.

I sat outside on the patio with my dog while my dad and husband went inside to order coffees and snacks. The cookies were very good here. My husband ordered an Italian sandwich, and it was HUGE. There was so much meat on it, it must have been a half a foot high. We were here on a weekday afternoon, so it was pretty dead and I’m sure it gets totally packed on weekends. A nice, peaceful place in an adorable neighborhood with high quality goods.

Waited 30 minutes for an order no one seemed to know about. I understand there were lots of people, but people who came in after me, received their food much quicker than I have.

Nestled in the northwest corner of CT lies the quaint, artsy town of Kent. Not gonna lie a lot of snooty over the top limp hand shak-ed eccentric folk out here, but I won’t hold it against them with a place like J. P Giffords. In recent years I’ve been doing alot of work on this side of the state but with little foodie gain; however this smaller deli/restaurant is the provider of no less than terrific, clever, tasty, and crafty sandwiches for lunch and breakfast. I make a point of rerouting myself toward this solid lunch spot if I’m even kinda close. In my mind any place that also serves as a mini fromageri and market selling delectable meats and cheeses is instant winner!!! Seriously they sell slabs of bacon thick enough to build walls with… anyway back to the sandwiches, constructed using fresh varieties of bread, hot or cold, breakfast or lunch they knock your socks off!!! There is always something new to try and everything they make sounds great on the board but tastes even better. With great specials, great sandwiches, and meals this is my number one favorite place to splurge on a solid lunch around this neck of the woods. I would seriously recommend to any one passing by this area. the prices are a little steep for the portions however if you look around and all you see is BMWs, Mercedes Benzes, and Bentlys it is what it is; a typical sammy or wrap will run you about $ 8– $ 9 not gonna break the bank but when you throw in some sides and a drink your talking $ 15 -$ 20 a little pricey just for lunch but hey this place had turned bad days into good ones for me one bite at a time…-enjoy

This is my favorite place to eat everytime I am visiting family in Kent! I go back time and time again… here’s just some of the reasons why: 1. They make amazing breakfast sandwiches. 2 farm fresh eggs, your choice of cheese and meat. They also have fresh croissants, bagels, english muffins, or rolls to put your creation on. Because of the quality of the ingredients, the final product is just amazing. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea and the coffee bar, a newspaper, and youre good to go. 2. The deli, switch over from breakfast to lunch… not only do they do the typical sandwiches, but they also do great homemade food: quiches, seafood, steak… all incredible. 3. The actual market. You can find some produce, pastas, high end meats and cheeses, unusual organic snacks, drinks, crackers, chips, candy, chocolates, syrups… everything! It has an unusual array(in a really good way). Its not your typical convenience store market, much more upscale. 4. They sell a fair amount of local goods. Milks, yogurts, ice creams, and food from local farms. As for the rest of the store, its clean, has some nice indoor and outdoor seating, and is really worth the money. It may be a little bit more expensive than your typical place, but you get great quality.

We decided to go for a roadtrip to Kent, known for beautiful countryside and spectacular fall colors. Driving on the main street at lunch time, we decided to stop in at this busy little establishment. People were eating at tables outdoors, and there are 3 long tables indoors as well. I ordered the chicken tikka masala flatwich, which was SOGOOD!!! It was flatbread on the bottom piled with warm seasoned/grilled chicken, tomato chutney, greens, and a cucumber sauce for $ 9. DH got Prosciutto and mozarella sandwich: Prosciutto di Parma, Fresh Mozzarella, Walnut Basil Pesto, Sun Dried Tomatoes and Balsamic Syrup on a Rustic Baguette for $ 10. They have some nice-looking desserts and lots of yummy salads/sides, but we didn’t try them. If we’re back in the area again, this is a definite return-visit place! It’s open 7 to 6 Mon thru Sat and 7 to 3 on Sunday.
