The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I came in around closing last week looking for some replacement gaskets for my sink. I needed to stop a leak in the P trap. A customer service associate showed me that type wasn’t in the grommet/​Oring drawers, handed me two replacement parts and sent me on my way.

Me and my husband love this place! The people are always so nice and helpful! I bought a bunch of ceramic pots and this man helped me load them into my car. Great sales on certain weekends too. I went about a month ago and received a $ 20 GC for spending over $ 100, some promotion that weekend, it was a pleasant surprise! The staff is great, like family.

The best customer service I’ve ever experienced anywhere! I was in a bind and needed someone that could hook the wires of my extension cord to a locking connector. Todd in electrical took care of it no problem and within the hour. I made the mistake of going to home depot where they couldn’t help me but they took care of me here even though I bought my supplies from a different store. I’m never going to home depot or Lowe’s ever again. I’ll be customer here for life!

BEWARE if you see a fountain here you like!

McLendon’s would be wise to rethink their
procedures when people buy big fountains from them.
I found at an excellent price an outdoor fountain here.
it was large, 4 feet high. Cost $ 600 with $ 80 for delivery.

I expected two husky young guys who would move it 15 feet to where it was wanted. I planned to give them extra money for
this…
Or at least put it UPRIGHT.
But instead I got a very polite, but old guy who came by himself, who left
it with a forklift on a wooden pallet on its side, and said ‘HERE YOU GO!’ and left it in my driveway…
…on it’s side.
I had to frantically call around to find someone who would move it for me, which ended up costing $ 200 and I had to help.
The worst part was getting it upright and strapped
to the refrigerator hand-​truck.
I will be eating aspirin for a few days.
You would be better off buying BIG fountains from
pros, who will install it for you.
McLendon’s has several large fountains for sale, perhaps someone there might read this, and change their policies.
…like WARNING PEOPLE.

I have a love-​hate relationship with Mclendon. Love: knowledgeable employees and terrific inventory Hate: often grumpy (albeit knowledgeable) employees and very poor inventory control. By that I mean so much of the time I get caught waiting in line because some item was not priced and did not have a SQU. This is especially aggravating when I go in to buy a very common item and get stuck in line for 5, 10, and yes, even 15 minutes while someone chase down the SQU for someone in front of me. Bottom line: unless it is really incontinent, I will go out of my way to shop here instead of the chain «hardware stores». When I suggest politely to an employee that something should be improved, they are indifferent and never apologize for the store. So, Mclendon improve the working environment for your employees, make them feel part of the team and improve your inventory control and you’ll never get outcompeted by the big chains. Bottom line: unless it is really incontinent, I will go out of my way to shop here instead of the chain «hardware stores».

This store has every.thing. That’s that.

After being raised around the company and working for this store I am glad to see the improvements made better customer service as well as management which was the reason I left. There was still some employees I did not care for working on my last visit but new ones seemed to know what they were talking about and possessed service skills which made it a nice shopping experience.

Mother’s Day Fuschia Baskets. Every year my husband and sons show up at 7am for the May Spring Sale and battle the crowds for the three most beautiful fuschia plants for me. They are beautiful, healthy and I cherish them all summer.
McLendon Hardware has such a special place in my heart — we now get our Christmas Trees there and all of our garden and container plants there. Not to mention all the hard to find plumbing and electrical parts we need. Fear not McLendon’s — the big boxes can’t compete where you clearly excel. We appreciate you and thank you for being such an important part of our family traditions!

It’s worth the extra time to come here over the big box stores. You tend to run into the same sales associates, which is a big deal for those of us who are returning customers, and you can usually get good advice.
I have dropped off random damaged hollow core doors and come back a week later to pick up perfectly matched replacements with the hinges and door pockets routed out. This is a valuable service.
The lumber yard also has a nice selection.

Family owned, fair prices, very helpful sales staff, and great sales. But the most compelling reason I shop here? They provide a discount to members of our homeowners’ association. I zip right past Home Depot and go straight to McLendon’s for hardware and gardening supplies, every time. Big thumbs up for being community minded and always friendly and helpful.

I just got myself a house and it’s definitely not the taj mahal, so what to do but go down to McLendon’s for all my hardware needs. (I realize that sounds like a commercial but in this case it’s 100% true.)
Stepping into McLendon’s feels a bit like you’re stepping back a few decades. Everyone is friendly, they have bulk hardware items organized into those fantastic little bins, and the staff knows everything about anything. We had a plumbing issue and Mr. Super Helpful Plumbing Genius was able to identify the correct pipe and additional tools we would need to finish the job, with a simple glance at a picture on my phone. As if that weren’t enough, he pulled out a sticker with his phone number on it and placed it on the tools so we could call him if we needed help.
I’ve been here other times and the staff have always been knowledgeable, friendly, and more than willing to help. They are a new homeowner’s godsend. Looking forward to spending more time here in the future as we fix up our home — and so thankful we have them in our neighborhood!

Excellent and knowledgeable staff. Wide ranging product choice including a selection of odd things that you just can’t find anywhere else. The staff see you looking puzzled and ask if you need help. It’s the only place in town to get a forest service fire rake. That’s an unusual tool which is oh so useful for so many things. There is so much more there. It’s like a toy store for big guys! My only grumble is that cell service in the store is not so good, then again, if I can’t call my spouse to ask about the tool I’m sure I need I’ll just have to get it.

I have always had great service in here, but one trip stands out. I was tired of our shower dripping, and tore apart the valve to fix it. I took the ball, seals, and springs with me to the store to find replacements.
I was in plumbing when a kid (looked like a kid to me) asked if he could help. I held up the ball and said «this is from my shower». He told me the brand of valve it came from, and asked me if my house was built in 1976 (it was), and explained they stopped making them that year. He pulled three separate kits (springs, seals, seat) off of the wall and sent me on my way.
Try that at Home Depot.

Great local place to go to. Everyone is very helpful. When you walk in it’s like they’ve known you forever. They’ve got a great selection. We’ve gone there for everything from a kitchen faucet to a bird feeder.

I have been to this store a handful of times now and I always have a great experience. The staff are super friendly, but better than that, they’re KNOWLEDGEABLE! No wandering about trying to figure out what I need. I just ask and they always know exactly what I’m looking for and where to find it. I suppose some of the prices are more expensive (like 50 cents) than Fred Meyer, but have you ever tried getting support for DIY at Fred Meyer? Love this store and am happy to recommend it!

McLendons has a reputation for being customer service focused. However, now that I see how they treat their employees, I will never shop there again.

This store has that item you just can’t find at the big box stores. Need a breaker for that 50 year old service panel? How about some springs to fit the locks in the 1960’s windows of your house? Washers for an American Standard faucet they haven’t even made since 1962? They have it all and if they don’t have you don’t really need it.
How about the people who work there? When I brought in a valve stem from said American Standard faucet the plumbing guy helped me find the correct washers and even showed me how to install one. These washers were 12 cents each and he took the time to install one so I wouldn’t have trouble. He also showed me how to repack the fittings for a drip free faucet.
There is also a woman in the electrical department who was able to identify my breaker box type from a picture on my phone, got me the breaker I needed and told me how to install it correctly so it wouldn’t arc and cause a fire (this box is from the 50’s and is know to catch fire if stuff is not done correctly).
Overall the prices aren’t always great but you’re paying for the staff who know what they are doing. You have to be willing to wait your turn on busy days but with help from the staff you can get everything the first time and not have to make multiple trips to the store.

Great staff that not only answers complex questions, but will send you to their vendors for plumbing /​electrical /​cooling parts they do not stock!

I like that McLendon’s doesn’t have the mega hardware store feel to it. For once I didn’t feel intimidated going to a hardware store. The staff here actually knows about products and it’s easy to find an employee when you have a question.
I also compared prices and McLendons had lower prices than Home Depot!
Another positive is that McLendons is locally owned. I like putting my money back into the local economy.

I love this place. I usually shop between here and Home Depot for house building, mending or upkeep stuff. When this place has a sale, usually nobody can beat them. The people here are knowledgeable and super nice for the most part.
Just this last weekend for a deck fixing project I saw a killer sale on some 2“x4“x8’ (two by four’s) for $ 1.99 and they were primo quality. The young man in the yard was very willing to help me load it up. Zero attitude. That really made my day since I remember working hard like that at his age.
The single nuts and bolts or random hardware selection is extensive. You can purchase only 1 or thousands at a time. Just put them in a bag and write down the stock number and/​or price. Ya, it’s self serve but for do it yourselfers like me it’s so awesome, sometimes I only need 1 weird screw or something that’s stainless to replace one that’s rusty.
I would say that Mr. Mclendon was probably a carpenter or a professional of the sort because the stock here is geared towards one stop shopping. 99% of all you need is here. And if it’s not, it’s probably down in the Renton store which isn’t too far.
