I’ve lived in Kent for over 2 decades, and it’s unfortunate that I only found McMonigle Vet a few years back for my current Pekingese. Dr. Clark and Dr. Larson are amazing, as are the front desk staff and the techs. I witnessed a true emergency there yesterday when a pet was brought in (unexpectedly) not moving or responding in a towel by tearful owners. McMonigle staff immediately, quietly and without hesitation sprang into action to handle this. It was amazing to see, truly poetry in motion w/​no fuss. They did all the right things, at the right times w/​ease and calm. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. They truly do follow what is in their literature — they treat every pet as one of their own, are always friendly, helpful and go to any and all lengths to assist me and my furbaby. You can tell who they are and what they stand for by just walking in the door. If you’ve not been there, I’d encourage you to give them a visit. You will NOT be disappointed. It’s a no brainer why they’ve been voted The Best Vet in Kent for many many years. When people ask me for a vet recommendation in Kent, I tell them there are a lot who I would not recommend, but only ONE clinic that I do recommend… I’m sure you can guess who that is.

When my cat got sick, I took the recommendation from a friend to visit McMonigle vet. Distraught, I took Miss Daisy there because McMonigle happens to be the closest clinic to my house. I was warned that they are a bit more pricey than other vet clinics in the area.
This is true, but I feel the cost is equivalent to the high level of care I received there. I saw Dr. Sandy Larson on my first visit, and I really liked him. Professional, warm, and happy to educate me on treatment options.
The next few times I’ve visited, I saw Dr. Ali Clark. I truly feel that she went above and beyond the typical treatment. I remember her noticing that Miss Daisy was extremely distressed at being carted to the animal hospital, and her treatment remained cognizant with minimizing that.
I have also called the office staff numerous times on questions about flea control, and new puppy procedure questions. They are always professional.
I’ve cut my Starbucks habit to be able to accomodate my pet’s good health, and I’m rewarded ten fold for that.
Please consider McMonigle vet for your fur babies. I just love them!

I took my sweet but feisty calico in to be treated for an ear infection that popped up. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist was very kind and helpful, and able to get me in the same day.
Upon arriving, with my twin toddlers in tow, everyone was so friendly and helpful. No one seemed to mind that my attention was split and my brain has shut down since having kids.
My kitty saw Dr Rob, who was kind, caring, and gentle. The treatment he prescribed for my kitty was appropriate and helpful. He was wonderful and I will absolutely bring all my pets back to see him.
I liked the feel of the office. It reminded me of a cross between two offices I worked for in Tennessee. Dr Rob and I chatted for a little bit while his tech ran the ear cytology, and even though I couldn’t say a single intelligent thing, (seriously, can you have baby brain a year out?!) he talked about various things that gave me confidence that he keeps up with current practices in veterinary medicine. He was also very sweet to my girls.
On the way out, everyone was helpful while I paid my bill, and they even carried my kitty to the car for me, since I had my kids in tow.
I was very pleased with the care we received today. I will have to come back sans kids next time and see if I can get a tour of their treatment and surgery areas. For now I would highly recommend them for routine care. :)

We’ve come to McMonigle over 5 years now and they are truly the best around! We moved up north 2 years ago and still make the drive just to see Dr. Martinez and Dr. McMonigle.
I recommended Dr. Martinez to my mom whose German Shepherd was recently diagnosed with mammary cancer. My mom wanted a second opinion (dog was diagnosed at another vet). Dr. Martinez performed a very thorough evaluation, listened to all of her concerns, and helped formulate a plan. She helped my mom cope with the unfortunate news and reassured my mom that they would be available every step of the way. I am so thankful for all the time Dr. Martinez shared with our family.

Very impressed with the speedy visit! We went to get my little chi mix’s anal glands looked at (I know, glamorous) and we were checked in and brought into the exam room extremely quickly. The vet assistant and vet were extremely nice to my little guy, who I thought was going to worry himself to death over the strangers touching him, but he was relaxed enough to take treats. He received a non-​steroidal pain reliever, an antibiotic injection in the you-​know-​where, and a bill of good health. You can tell the vet really knew his stuff. I was really relieved to hear he chose a non-​steroidal pain reliever, as well.
Another good visit!

We’ve had five critters in 30 years, and McMonigle’s has treated them all. When we moved to Fairwood, they kept Tycho (our cat) going strong well into his 19^th year, then, when age made his joints too painful for him to live in «feline dignity», they helped him «move on» in a most kind and gentle manner.
The same for our Mini-​Dachshund, Edie. When her «time» came, they made every effort to comfort both her and us in this most emotional of times.
They’re now helping us keep our Standard/​Mini Schnauzer, Lyta in the best of health.
We cannot praise them highly enough.

I am very impressed with this vet clinic. I have taken my dog to a couple others in Kent, and this is by far my favorite and I will be sticking to Dr. Larsen! The front desk staff and vet assistants are really friendly and helpful. I was really happy with Dr. Larsen because you could tell that he truly loves animals and what he does. The last vet I went to didnt seem to like dogs very much (as weird as that sounds)… She would just quickly look at her and get to business. Dr. Larsen would talk to my dog and pet her and smile at her. Thats what I want in a vet. I want to be able to tell that they care for and love animals.

I have only been to this vet a few times for my golden retriever. A regular check up and a small rash he had, The veterinarian was very friendly almost too much like a sales men though, the receptionist was grumpy (she actually forgot to charge for $ 2.38 called a few times and when I told her I will just take care of it next time I come in because I was busy working at the time she seemed very displeased I also got a late notice 3 days later!) other than that the experience just wasn’t as nice as I have had with the vet I used before moving to the kent area. I now travel about 20 min to my vet in federal way.

What a wonderful and compassionate vet. I walked in with two feral cats trapped needing them fixed the same day. The staff was very welcoming and fit me in. I felt very comfortable and pleased with the care my kitties got. 5 stars for sure!

15 Years of appointments, 5 cats, and my first Unilocal out to Dr. Rob McMonigle and his amazing team! That said, we’ve all grown up together — I began visiting when the office was essentially an orignal older home filled with the care and love of Sr. McMonigle. Years later, Dr. Rob has upgraded the building while keeping the same primary passion for animals health, great service, & cleanliness, while adding the expertise of additional veterinarians.
This is the only veterinary office I would go to — as proven by my drives to Kent from Seattle!

I have taken my Miniature Schnauzer to the same vet for 9 years and the care she received seemed cold and distant. I looked to friends for their recommendations. 3 friends said Dr. McMonigle is the best, so I checked out Unilocal and it seems the Unilocalers also agree. We had her first appointment today (skin and ear problems). Dr. Rob McMonigle is kind and thorough and you can see he actually cares about your animal. I am so happy to give this place 5 stars because I truly do believe this is a good as it gets. Thanks Dr. McMonigle!

Sadly, earlier this month our 14.5 yr old dog began having breathing/​coughing issues. We first brought her to another vet in Kent that offered a coupon for a free visit, only to experience a less-​than-​par visit with them. Unhappy with our visit to that vet, we hopped on Unilocal and found the great reviews for McMonigle Vet also in Kent.
We made an emergency visit (which was a little more pricey), but were seen that same day. Dr. Eric Lui was very caring and professional. After thorough questions, and a very complete physical examination, we ordered a couple X-​rays. It was then that we learned of the Large mass of lung cancer pressing on her lungs and heart. Sadly, we made the decision to have her put down the following week.
Though having a pet put down was so difficult to handle (being right next to her side)…slightly unexpected to someone unfamiliar… we believe that they did an amazing job and made it as comfortable for her as possible.
They also went out of their way to offer a complimentary paw print in clay (color of our choice). It turned out beautiful and we have since hung it by our door so we see it when we leave our house.
Mcmonigle accepts Care Credit (Which really helps for unexpected vet expenses). Their pricing seems in line (possibly a little less expensive on some fees) than other vets in the area.
We are very confident in this Veterinary Clinic/​Hospital and will continue to bring our pets here in the future. Thank you Dr. Lui and staff for taking care of our beloved pet and helping us through the hard time.

Just had a first check up with my little shih tzu, the staff was friendly, the place is also few minutes away from the house and yhey are accomodating. The vet who has seen my puppy was kind and informative. The cost for the check-​up wasn’t bad as I thought it would be. They have a decent parking spaces and getting an appointment wasn’t bad at all. I will continue to come here with my little pup.

Awesome care for your pup. Prices are reasonable too. I love Mcmonigle because they truly care for you and your dog. The office is so clean and friendly, warm and genuine. It’s walking distance for me but if we move, we will not go anywhere else. Not to mention, they give a bag of food and an awesome folder with a bunch of info for first time clients. I love this place!

Dr. McMonigle goes «above and beyond» when it comes to caring for your animal. He has been our dogs vet for over 13 years and we have nothing but praise for his caring personality and professionalism.

Today was my two cats first visit. They were both very nervous and scared but Dr. Larson was calm and gentle with them which put me at ease and they did not feel threatened. The entire experience was great. I will definitely be bringing my cats back for care.

Last year we moved to Washington and having a dog, needed to find a vet. Our dog has always had issues with separation anxiety and moving caused him some problems. I decided to try McMonigle and can’t say enough good things about this practice. We have seen Dr. Larson twice now. Both times were very good experiences.
Regarding the anxiety and treatment, I felt that I was given reasonable options and not pressured at all to try anything. I really appreciated the follow up call that Dr. Larson personally made to see how the medication was working with our dog. Other treatment options for a small growth and dental work were discussed in a way that makes me feel very comfortable about when it needs to be taken care of.
When we went into the examining room, my dog was given time to calm down (as much as he is able) and that made an impression on me. I haven’t gone to a veterinarian that has been so considerate before.
I have called with another issue, shortly after a recent visit, and again received a phone call directly from Dr. Larson to discuss my situation and give me recommendations. And as always, his level of personal interest is notable.
I will continue to go here and recommend this practice to anyone I come across looking for attentive and trustworthy care for their animal family members.

Amazing vet clinic! Highly Recommended!
I’m from out of town and brought my dog up to Washington to have her eye surgery. It was somewhat short term notice and they were able to accommodate my schedule. This could have been a sketchy experience but the Vet as well as the other staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable and explained in detail how the procedure would go from start to finish. By the time I left the clinic after the first appointment I was very confident I was leaving my pup in good hands! Just wish I had a clinic that came close to the McMonigle Vet Hospital in my area.

We moved to Kent last year, and I needed to find a new Vet for my dog. I had been going to Maple Leaf Vet in Seattle, and had been happy there, so I was anxious about having to find another good Vet after the move. My dog (Kiki) is a senior dog, and means a lot to me. My pup is almost 12 years old, so over the years I’d been to several clinics before sticking with Maple Leaf, so I know what clues to look for that indicate caring, competent Vet hospitals/​clinics.
McMonigle’s has been there for a long time, as my husband used to live in the area in the late 90’s. I like that it is an established practice, and might even be a second generation practice. There is a statue outside, of a dog and a cat, that can be seen from the busy street. They dress them up according to the seasons/​holidaysa, and it’s pretty cute. When you’re dealing with pets, a sense of humor is always good!
My first visit, Dr. McMonigle got on the ground, near my dog, and had a confident, friendly approach to her. Most pets hate the Vet’s, and a good Vet must know this. I’ve experienced some veterinarians that are so rigid and clinical that they actually make my dog MORE frightened. Overall, good visit, decided to use them for her next check-​up.
Almost a year later, my dog had some serious problems. I took her in, and they have a new vet, Dr. Lui. Her appointment was urgent, so I scheduled with him, and found him to be a great doctor as well. Good understanding of animal communication. Very patient in explaining/​answering my questions. Quite accessible (he answers emails and is very diligent about returning phone calls.) I explained that we had a budget, and he has made sure to honestly present options for each step of the journey so far. My dog ended up having her leg amputated, and he was her surgeon. She’s healing well, and it seems he’s done a bang-​up job. You can tell he truly enjoys practicing veterinary medicine, and he very obviously loves working with animals.
As well, the office staff have been very accommodating and friendly. They actually remember the patients and their owners, and they are never rude. They even offered to help walk our dog in from the parking lot, if I’m juggling my human baby at the same time. If they don’t know the answer to a question, they get the message to the doctor asap. They follow-​up on voicemail I’ve left after hours.
I recommend this Veterinarian practice for all the reasons above. I’m a serious dog lover, and I trust them with my dog’s care.

When we adopted our pup, the Seattle Humane Society gave us a voucher for a free exam at a participating vet office. There were two options in the City of Kent and after a quick check on Unilocal and Facebook I decided on McMonigle Veterinary Hospital. I called and explained that I had a coupon and they fit me same-​day!
This veterinary office is everything I look for in a doctor’s office. Long-​standing practice, renovated building, friendly staff, doctors who love what they do. Dr. Clark at McMonigle was great. She clearly loves animals and took to our pup immediately. I like that she is young and has a great attitude and that the doctors in the practice span a large age range so there is plenty of experience.
This is a loving environment and I am glad to have found them.
