Look can’t tell you how much I wanted to like this place. I remember this location when it was the Deck way back in my high school days. Man was I disappointed. Look I have no problem paying a high price for a glass of wine but please give me a glass of wine or even half a glass. A ¼ fill for the money just doesn’t get it. One star just for the nostalgia.

Friday night out. Actually found a Groupon offer over Valentines for two, for a wine tasting and small plate. Great price so figured it would be worth a try. Wow! Ended up a great deal! Wine tasting was actually a flight of eight wines(for each person); four reds and four whites. Some were just good, some were exceptional. Great mix. Choice of 4 different small plates. We ordered an extra one because we couldn’t decide between two. Bruschetta and hummus plates were both very tasty. Nice, fresh ingredients. Would definitely come back. Kinda wish it hadn’t been karaōke night, but the food and wine won us over.

Well.well.at first it was a little slow on service but it picked up and it was a very enjoyable night. Band was great and food was good. Little overpriced fir a college town, 3 $ for a domestic beer ??? 24 $ for a bottle of Moscato. .need to revisit price! Maybe more people will visit.

In theory, this place has a lot of potential. It’s a different atmosphere from the other bars in Kent and it is in a great location. I’m giving them some benefit of the doubt because I was here on a very busy night. That said, on this busy night there was only one person behind the bar and one lonely server and the place was packed. I showed up with a group of people and perused the menu, all of which sounded good. We decided to share some food and ordered the hummus, bruscetta, and fondue. I also ordered a coke, as I was unable to drink alcohol that night. It took us nearly ten minutes to get the bartender to take our order, as the server was busy. I got my coke right away and it was both warm and flat. The bartender even seemed confused I had ordered it. It was listed on the menu, so I’m not sure what the issue was. Our food took a long while, but given how busy it was we weren’t surprised. The fondue came first … in a little cast iron pot with no heat source. The cheese basically congealed immediately and wasn’t warm for most of the meal. There was a candle present under it, but it wasn’t lit. There was no way to bring this to the staff’s attention at this point, and when they finally brought out the rest of the food it was too late to really do anything about it. The other food was satisfactory. There is very little seating in the place that lends itself to actually be able to see the stage area, so keep that in mind when you’re making plans.

Food selection and quality was good(although we only got the Fondue and the Meat and Cheese selection). Drinks were 1 — it’s what we were offered. Planned and usually have more than 1. Servers were almost unseen and when they were, they were prepping settings. There were a few people at the bar — we were the sole table! Unfortunate, but with service like that, it’s good there were not crowded. BTW — I normally always give the waitstaff the benefit of the doubt, being a former bartender in College at a high-end establishment

Very classy, but not snobby. The draft selection was a perfect variety for me and my girlfriend. Nothing beats their live piano.

Visited here a few weeks ago wasn’t really impressed. The food was pretty underwhelming had a turkey sandwich can’t remember the name and it came with a cup of blueberries(?). The service was ok I would think that they would step up the music especially with alternative spots like Nighttown in Cleveland Heights. Don’t be afraid to cut up the volume. The venue it’s self is beautiful. I might go back… more than likely I won’t.

Second time here. Food and service much better than first time. Interesting menu, more on the lighter side. Blue Eyes salad was very good, the sandwiches were tasty and large. Wonderful wine list and beer list includes craft beers and meads. Music has been good on both visits !

Save your time & money and DON’T go to this crappy place. The owners are clueless, dishonest and have no experience in this business. THe room is great but the rest of it is a mess to put it nicely.

I was very pleased with my trip to Secret Cellar tonight. It was pretty empty(on a Wednesday), and it sounds like Saturdays or nights when the offer live music are busiest. My friends and I were pleasantly surprised to learn that tonight was $ 5 glasses and retail prices on bottles. Our server, Nick, was attentive and answered our questions. My glass of Riesling was slightly dryer than I expected and the cheese plate was a hit at our table. I’m looking forward to coming again on a night with live music! This is a great addition to downtown Kent.

Service needs improvement ASAP. A group of 6 of us went in on a Saturday night and sat for 10 minutes and received no service at all. Not one person came to even offer us water. We ended up walking out and no one even stopped us to see why we were leaving. Great atmosphere and has potential, but if the service doesn’t change I won’t return.
