The AC Tavern

I had heard from several people that the AC had great burgers, so I tried it for the first time last week. I ordered the Classic burger with cheese & bacon! OMG! It was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life!
I took my sister & 1 of my friends there this weekend & they agreed they were amazing. If you like some heat with your burger, try the Texas burger. My sister said it was spicy hot & fabulous!
Staff are very polite, it’s very clean & a nice selection of beers. You must give this place a try! I promise you won’t be sorry!

First time I was here was a couple months back. They let us bring my dog in and even brought water out for my dog!
Visited again today since I was craving good beer and was impressed by their selection of beer and dogs. I ordered the sled dog and it was the best damn hotdog with peanut butter and syrup I’ve ever had (the only one I’ve ever had).
The staff here is extremely friendly and really make everyone feel welcome. This must be where the cool kids in Kent hang, because the crowd in there definitely seemed like fun regulars.

This has been in my bookmarks foreverrrrr and it turns out I’ve passed it tons of times and never knew! It’s only 8 minutes away from my house and located right in downtown Kent… Bonus!
When we first showed up, it was pretty slow — everything was vacant aside from the bar. We were attended to pretty quickly and given ample time to order — I ended up getting the Coffee Pumpkin Ale and a Chicago Dog.
The bartender was pretty helpful in assuring me that the Chicago Dog was the right choice and easing my hesitance towards the Coffee Pumpkin Ale. I’ve been wanting to try a seasonal beer but I’ve been really nervous about the idea of pumpkin-​y beer… Let alone adding a coffee taste to it!
I ended up really liking the Coffee Pumpkin Ale and I normally am not one for dark beers, or anything that isn’t a Blue Moon or Coors Light. I’d have it again — and it was like 5−6%, so it gets ya buzzy! You definitely get more of the coffee taste than pumpkin, and my Chicago Dog actually paired really well.
The Chicago Dog was okay — I definitely would’ve preferred to try the Seattle Dog for my first time at AC. The Chicago Dog had (hot) peppers, neon relish, a dill pickle spear, onions, tomatoes (which I nixed), and mustard. The all-​beef hotdog was definitely really good, but the toppings weren’t what I normally go with.
I definitely want to give AC another chance — they have soooo many choices for beers and probably 10 other hotdogs that I could give a go. They have burgers and apps as well! I asked the bartender if they get busy before TBird games, because that’s most likely when I’ll come back, and he wasn’t really in the mood to carry conversation because he got so busy, so I guess I’ll just find out for myself… Overall, pretty good food, drinks, service, and a clean environment!
P. S. I’d check and make sure they actually use your 20% off check-​in thing. My hotdog was only $ 5, but my order still came to like over $ 11. Maybe my beer really was that expensive? Not sure — but just be aware!

Great place. Very welcoming people and great service. Nice craft beer selection. I loved the Western Dog with a bratwurst, so yummy. I’m taking one star off cause we had many annoying fruit flies flying around our table and getting inside our beer glass. I hope they sort that problem out.

Sadly this has to go in my top five worst bar experiences ever. Let me preface this by saying this review has nothing to do with the food or drinks. We didn’t get that far.
Saw the reviews and decided to check it out. We went in on a Friday night about 8:30. The first thing we noticed was the music. It was LOUD. I’m not overly sensitive but it was so loud we couldn’t even talk to each other across the table. Not a reason to get up and leave but it certainly was jarring, and distracting.
Found a table, looked over the menu, which clearly said ORDER AT THE BAR. Got it. We decided on beers and I went up to order. There was only one employee behind the bar, whom I believe was the owner, and he was preparing food (there doesn’t appear to be a kitchen so the bartender makes all the food as well). No problem, I stood patiently at the well until he was finished. About a minute went by before he turned around and saw me waiting to order. Not a big deal. He says, «can I help you?» and i said «yes! could i order from you?» He snottily replied with «…uh yeah in JUST A MOMENT» like i had been standing there tapping my foot or something. THEN he and some people at the bar, who I assume are regulars because they knew his name, all had a good laugh about it! Like he had made some hilarious comment. Hey bud, if you need to say «I’ll be with you in just a moment,» thats fine, but don’t ask if I’m ready to order and then speak to me like I’m waiving my arms at you trying to get your attention when you’re clearly busy, when in reality I had waited patiently and at no point had acted rude or like i was in a hurry or pissed off at all. I was just trying to have some beers on a Friday night and support a local business, but we took our business elsewhere. Disappointed.
Overall impressions: bar for thats probably great for regulars, not welcoming to newcomers. if you’ve never been there before or don’t know the guy behind the bar, you’ll won’t get good service. At least that is the experience I had. I left scratching my head as to what I had done to warrant such a crappy attitude…

Awesome hospitality, great beers and amazing burgers… frozen doughnut sauce is on point. You don’t know what you’ve been missing out on until you have had a burger from here!!!

These guys have awesome hot dogs and beer selection. They probably have the best craft beer selection anywhere within 39 miles of here. For sure a great place to watch games, they have a lot of TVs, and a couple large ones. All their sides are made fresh, the house-​made chili is especially delicious. Definitely go in there and talk beer with the owner. He knows his stuff.

Elysian Super Fuzz now on tap. I tried the Seattle dog today along with a side of fries. Both were excellent. Keep up the good work.

This is a great place! They were really welcoming towards our shy, little chihuahua, even gave her a hot dog of her own. They helped with our beer selection, letting us sample several different beers. The hot dogs were excellent! We’ll be back with our dog, for the friendly service and to try Curt’s Sled Dog! Highly recommended!

Awesome place. Burgers are seasoned to perfection and the dogs are good too. Good selection of craft beers and great atmosphere. Perfect place to settle on a friday night and hangout.

I stopped in here while my car was being worked in down the street. Had never heard of it until I found it on Unilocal.It is a friendly little bar and burger joint, with a nice selection of beers on tap. I had their regular house cheeseburger. It was excellent! It is served on a cheese bagel. The Guinness was poured just right too.

Great hotdogs and a great beer selection. Still need to try the burgers! Love this laid back lowkey spot. It’s a total plus for Kent

If you’re looking for veggie dogs, call ahead because it’s hit or miss. I’ve been here 3 times, yet I’ve had only one hot dog. Obviously it was great, which is why I’ve come back looking for more, they just have a stocking issue. I’ve learned that they don’t stock veggies burgers at all anymore due to lack of acceptable supplier. I’m a little sad, but I think it’s great that he demands quality.
That said: the one veggie dog I did manage to obtain was really good. I do wish the bun was toasted, but they use a high quality veggie dog and piled it high with deliciousness. I would absolutely eat another dozen or so given the chance! They have a good selection of local beer to choose from.
I really want to love this place; I enjoy the atmosphere and the 1 dog I did have was fantastic. So much to the point I’m willing to call ahead to get another one of those dogs, but it really bums me out that menu items aren’t regularly stocked.

Definitely a place you want to check out. The good is great and there’s good variety. I live the western dog, the mac n cheese with chili, the nachos and the pretzels with nacho cheese and bacon on the side. The beer selection is always changing so you get a chance to try out new things and the service is always friendly!

We showed up to this place at about 5:45pm on a Saturday night. After reading some of the reviews, we were sure this would be our kind of place.
Upon walking in, it was a small, clean, beer and dogs kinda bar. We walked up to the bar to order our beers and were directed to a table with menus and asked to come back to place our order. I did think this was a little strange, because the place is not that big and it wasn’t busy at all — he could have came to our table and taken our order. Anyway…
They have a huge chalkboard that is filled with their tap offerings — and, if you’re a beer lover, this is a place for you. Somewhere to go, be left alone and just have some damn fine brews.
We ordered our beers and were asked if we wanted small or big glasses — the small glasses looked like those tiny water glasses you get at places like Denny’s and the big ones were about 1−½ times the size of a normal pounder glass. They also didn’t have a price difference listed, and didn’t offer the information up freely either… which I thought was strange.
I was carded (at almost 31), my little sister was carded (at just 21) and my fiancé was not carded (almost 23). It took him almost five minutes to count (in his head) to see if 1993 made my sister 21. He even had to ask the other guy working behind the counter. (Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?)
Anyway, the food came out — it was hot and honestly — REALLY yummy! At about $ 7/​dog — it wasn’t SUPER cheap, but it was great quality and didn’t need anything else to fill up our bellies.
About half-​way through our meal, some people started to show up — mainly bikers, and some young-​ish women that sat at the end of the bar. The music was mostly that new techno-​y/​rave-​y type music, and the people at the bar were watching the TV that was up there WAY too loud.
Bottom line, the service/​atmosphere needs a little work. Be a tiny bit friendlier, post some pricing for your beer sizes, and maybe a poster that states what year you have to be born in to be at least 21. :) That kind of music in a place like that is a mood killer and doesn’t attract people in your door, and definitely doesn’t want to make them stay for more drinks. Additionally, having been known to be a ‘biker’ spot, that could be driving people away too… I know if I wanted to go out with some girlfriends, I’m not sure I’d choose this place later in the evening.
However, the food and beer selection is outstanding, and I will be back.

This place is a great idea! Beer and hot dogs. Simple and delicious. I had the Mac daddy which was excellent, and huge. They had a great assortment of beers as well. The guys who run this place are super nice and we had a great time. I’ll be back!

FANTASTIC friendly service, which would earn 4 of 5 stars alone, but the Sled Dog is a MUST TRY and easily worth a few stars in its own right… but Unilocal only allows 5. For a native New Yorker like me to rave about a dog, its gotta be great. It is.

Well the place is not really a dive but it’s a little bit hard to fine. The ambulance is typical neighborhood bar but the hotdogs were amazing. The beer selection was very good and everything posted had calories and alcohol content on the blackboard.
I had the Buffalo dog with a bratworst as of the main meat source and it was so tasty. The bun was soft yet still resilient to hold all the ingredients and the total taste was great.
I’m not here very often but when I come back I will definitely stop by and sample one of the other great dogs.

We came here because it was close, and had high ratings. Those ratings did not disappoint.
There’s really no words for how on point these hot dogs were. They have a variety of types of hot dogs, even a vegetarian dog! So many toppings for the dogs, it was hard to decide. We got a couple to split, and I just wish I had more room to eat another.
I am not a fan of the chili, but I’m sure it’s fine for people who do like that style.
