Vision Quest

BEFORE JOINING, READ THIS!
1.) If you ever want customer service, you’re going to have to call the gym and talk to receptionist. There’s no such thing as customer service.
2.) If you ever want to cancel your membership, you must drive to the grym, get a letter from them and MAIL IT… no, you cannot fax it, you MUST MAIL IT to their corporate office in Irvine, CA. It will take 30 days to process, so you’ll be paying for that extra month!
This gym will do everything in their power to make it as inconvenient for you as possible to cancel your membership. I will make sure to send this «certified mail» because I just know they’ll conveniently «not receive it»…
The gym is small, but as other reviewers have said, you get what you pay for. There are about 5 or 6 treadmills with TVs that you can hook your headset to. but at any given time, only 1 – 2 works.
The only reason they get a 1 star from me is because they have really fun classes. But that’s not the $ 19 membership, that’s the $ 29 membership.

It’s nothing fancy, but I don’t go to a gym because of how nice it looks. I love the staff, very friendly & helpful. Always have a lot of trainers around to help you so you don’t look dumb if you’re doing something completely wrong. The free monthly sessions are a plus. Only thing is I wish they had more fans around. Besides that, good price, good staff to keep you motivated & a fun place to be.

Keep all your paperwork, especially your cancellations paperwork. They’re trying to scam me and say I didn’t cancel. Parking sucks. They say that you get to meet up with a trainer and I only met up with two in one year. They suck.

Granted it’s not the most fancy facility I’ve seen, but it gets the job done. It has plenty of lockers. I haven’t utilized the showers, sauna or steam room. There’s a women’s only area upstairs along with the group exercise studio/​area. I’d probably use that area more if they also had free weights, but it consists of machines and a handful of cardio machines. Downstairs they have a small free weight area, lots of treadmills, ellipticals and bikes, and some weight machines.
If you come during non peak times (probably early early morning, middle of the day and after 8pm) you usually don’t have a problem getting a machine, but forget it when it’s busy, it’s hard to even get to the machine or weights you want to use.
I only took their Weekend Warrior class that was every Saturday, which I really enjoyed. I worked out with a trainer twice (you’re supposed to get a free session every month) and then I don’t know what happened to the scheduling.
All in all, a gym is a gym. Just come when it’s not busy otherwise it’s crowded and you might have to modify/​cut your workout short because the equipment you need isn’t available.
Plus side– it’s open 4am Monday– 10pm Friday during the week. But the weekend hours are limited.

First off the floors here are gross and the trainers are not professional. But here is my experience that I shared to the vision quest management team. I HOPE YOU FIND THIS HELPFUL. Dear management. Today I came in for the fist time excited to check you guys and maybe get a membership. I was greeted said thanks for coming in by a very kind lady named Shannon. The bald man with a brown guy whom I was told by shannon that his name was steve when I called back. Steve at first takes me into the weight room at first he says «I will take your weight and measurements.» But don’t worry I wont take you upstairs to the girls area.” He then without taking my measurements takes me over to the free weight area. And say’s «lets see where you are at.» With 2 45 lb weights on each side I personally know I can handle this but he doesn’t. Its been a long time since I worked out but I know my limitations. I told him if he hurt me I wouldn’t come back jokingly. He helps me to remove the 45 lb weights and I do a single warmup set of 15 as he requested. He then grabs the 45 right afterwords and puts them on without the clips to hold the weights. I was a little crooked in the warm up and he wants me to bench press 2 45lb weights without clips I asked him to put them on. And he did. Shouldn’t it be his job to do safety first. He doesn’t know what I can handle. People don’t start bench pressing with a ton of weight at first. What kind of trainers does vision quest hire? After two sets he says «I’ll be right back.» 10 minutes later yes 10 minutes later I got tired of waiting at the bench I did one set of 12 by myself easily. I walked over too the water fountain to get a drink and out comes Steve talking to a very tall trainer about his workout routines and personal stuff. I walked right by him he didn’t even acknowledge after making eye contact with me and say something as simple as I’ll be right there. I was very upset at this point I went to the bench picked up my belonging walked out the door and told Shannon that «I wont join a gym that doesn’t even care about there customers.» That is it to the manager I have worked out all my life at 24 hour golds world and many other gyms. This is the worst experience I have ever had. I wish your company the best but you will never get my money and I will be sure that I tell everyone in the future if asked about my first and last experience with VISION QUEST. Gym-​goers: Avoid VisionQuest in Kent.
We invested in the upgraded $ 29/​mo membership.
Our «three free training sessions» consisted of exercises that aggravated former joint injuries that we informed our trainer we had. We even shared specific instructions from my husband’s orthopedic surgeon. They were disregarded and we were pushed to do more than our physician felt was appropriate. We stopped seeing the trainer on her advice.
After your three free training sessions you’ll get hit with hard sales techniques and thinly veiled weight/​health/​body shaming from your trainer to invest in more training sessions and overpriced nutritional supplements than you know and make clear that you can afford.
They also have extremely dodgy billing practices. You can’t cancel over the phone. They require you to come in during business hours that most people are at work or pay for a certified letter. Despite the inconvenience, I went in person, cancelled our membership and thought that was that. There was no talk of an outstanding balance. Some time later, they billed my debit card again! When I called to inquire as to why, I learned that they felt that they were still due two months worth of payments, despite that we were outside of the period in which we would have been responsible for paying on the remainder of our contract. And because I wasn’t anticipating that unauthorized expense and only pay certain regularly occurring bills out of that account, it resulted in overdraft fees.
Nevermind that the facility is completely outdated and that the sauna and whirlpool bath look unappealing and are regularly closed for some reason or another.
There’s a reason that they market their $ 19/​mo membership so hard. It’s their only selling point.

Okay, yes it is in a strip mall (someone else used this term, first), but it is clean, convenient, and offers LOTS for folks wanting to get their «sweat on». The classes are great, but sometimes not always enough during the morning/​early afternoon. Having both a sauna & steam room (I do not use the hot tub) is really nice after a good, hard workout. I think the ladies locker room needs MORE light, I have a difficult time working my combo lock in the dim lighting. I LOVE that I can (as a woman) workout in the upstairs «ladies» area (adjacent to the class studio).
My biggest complaint: The pricing for membership is constantly up & down. I love being able to buy a year & get 18 months — but I do NOT want my debit or credit card on file — I pay in advance, thank you very much. Aside from the up & down of the membership pricing, I appreciated the Groupon (6 weeks for $ 10). I have been given passes for friends & family, which is great to try it before you buy it.
I guess if I went to another location, I could get the tanning booth portion of the membership — Kent doesn’t have it. The gym is very functional, but could use a few updates. Did I get my money’s worth? YES! I have been treated VERY well, considering I am a middle aged, fat woman, ha ha! I enjoy the trainers — worked with three different ones — and appreciate them not chasing me to buy supplements (I use my own, and even educated two of the trainers on reading blood work).
There is TONS of parking, and it’s a gym, so I park far, behind the entrance. I am ALWAYS greeted upon entrance. I mentioned someone had lost a LOT of hair in the shower — and they jumped on my comment. All in all, I am happy with my membership.

I have been coming to this gym for over a year and i will admit that the old GM was pushy when it came to sales. He is no longer there. I am not sure which trainer or trainers hound people for supplements. I was asked by my trainer once after the first workout and said i was not interested and was never asked again. My workout was good and I got the results I wanted in better time then what I had expected. If you have a question the trainers are happy to help.
I have gone throughout the day and the busy time during the week is 3 – 7 due the classes being offered. I prefer the morning or late afternoon on the weekends so I miss the packed classes.
As the the locker rooms they are small badly lit and the showers are not good. But i have asked the staff and they say it is being planned for the locker rooms to be redone.
The trainers that i see every morning are great. I can not speak for the afternoon group as i am in around after 7. The equipment is good and they are fast at fixing something that happens to be broken
Overall i like the gym, i just wish the locker rooms would get updated soon.

The parking lot is terrible. This gym is located in a business park/​strip mall in Kent.
Walking inside I wasn’t greeted or anything. I had to ask another gym member where the ladies locker room was.
The locker room. Small pink lockers, not enough lighting and ONE hair dryer for the gaggle of women standing in front of the mirror.
Whatever, I’m here to get my sweat on and get out. This place is so outdated I expected Richard Simmons to pop out and ask if I wanted to Jazzercize.
The equipment is sparse and the womens area is hidden upstairs with no signs. No treadmills are available upstairs. Don’t forget there wasn’t any spray disinfectant/​paper towels available– had to keep reminding myself not to touch my face in fear of getting pink eye.
You will be limited to 4 shower stalls to chose from and the pictures posted are legit. I happened to get the stall with that moldy left over label and NO freaking body wash.
Upon leaving I didn’t even get a good bye out the door. I don’t even want to write this review anymore because this place sucked so bad.
Sticking to the Auburn Vision Quest gym until I feel like joining a bigger chain.

Right now I give them a 2.5 because I hurt my rib right after I purchases my membership and haven’t spent much time in there yet.
If you’ve happened across my review for LA Fitness, you’d know I’m a harsh critic of gyms. And I hated them, so in my mind, anything is better than that place. So far, Vision Quest is okay.
They had (and I see them all the time) a great Groupon Deal. I partook.
I went in expecting a really pushy sales dude or gal to try and add on this and that to my cheap-​o groupon deal. Surprisingly, I didn’t get a huge run around. This may be because when we sat down I told him all the things I absolutely hated about LA Fitness so he tried his hardest to be unlike them. Fine with me. So I wasn’t forced into any crazy training programs. The groupon came with a couple of appointments for free and they add on like one a month for free. It worked out great.
My trainer is really great. Hard core work outs. Yikes.
I haven’t tried their classes yet, but they look fun. I also really like how they have a «Women only» upstairs.
My cons: I don’t like how small the gym is for how many people they are taking on. It seems like a constant wait for machines. (This is where the women’s only upstairs is nice)
The locker room is also tiny. The gym is carpeted so it smells a lil funky. pew.
So, right now, to me, it isn’t the best and it isn’t the worst. A-​ok.

Not a bad gym. Its a bit small but the people there is what makes it worth it

Wow. The other reviewers surprise me. First of all. Great gym. Has a lot of good workout equipment. And classes are included in the membership! Yeah it might be a little old and used looking in there but definitely not dirty. And for only $ 15 – 20 a month it’s definitely worth it. If you’re all about looking cute and the finer, high class things in life then go somewhere else. But if you’re serious about fitness and working out go to Vision Quest. Also the staff here does not pester and hound you that much to try and make you buy stuff. The previous reviewers must not know how to be assertive and direct when saying no.

I wish I could have gave zero stars seriously! There is not much more I can add to the already horrible reviews about this dive.

When we came on a $ 10 Groupon to try the place for 6 weeks that was money quickly down the drain, I felt very uneasy and grossed out by the place. Should have read the reviews first. The trainer that showed us around spent 45 freeking minutes of our workout time to try and sign us up. I explained to him that we are moving in three months therefore I can not sign up for your 9 month commitment here. He showed us over to a case of products/​supplements and told us if we bought $ 100 worth of them then he would give us a «pass» to the gym at no extra charge for 3 months, SHADY DUDE SERIOUSLY!!! HELL NO Im not buying your junk supplements for your shady commision.
See ya! Back to our normal gym (clean, nice, new, inviting, no pressure, no products to pressured) Normandy Park Athletic.
I will tell every single person I talk to how gross Vision Quest is. And they had the nerve to call my husband today and ask him to come in for a training session, no freeking thanks pal.

My wife is the member here, and she loves the place. She’s lost 70+ pounds since joining, and can’t say enough good about her trainer and the nice people she meets there. So I’m passing on her five stars for friends she’s met, a staff that knows her name, and people making her feel comfortable enough to keep coming back for more gym time. She’s happy, so I’m happy. (BTW, she’s joined other gyms throughout our 30 years of marriage, and has never felt any encouragement from them, or even felt comfortable enough to go back beyond one or two sessions. She goes to Vision Quest three or four times a week and loves it. They turned her into an athlete!)

To start I have to say that I absolutely LOVE Vision Quest (Kent location) and had it not been for them, I would have never lost the 50+ pounds I’ve lost so far! I tried LA Fitness (2 different locations) and at both those locations I was basically mocked for being a bigger girl (one trainer told another customer that he had to get rid of the fat girl at his desk before he could her– and yes I heard him and yes I reported him).
I went to Vision Quest on a whim. I wanted to lose weight. I wanted to look better. I wanted to be happy and Vision Quest was cheap. So I figured if I failed at it I wouldn’t lose a lot of money. That’s just me being honest.
Sure they encourage me to buy supplements and training sessions. But when I explain its just not something I want to do, they respect it and leave me alone. Not one time has a sales person interupted my workout to give a sales pitch. And if they did, I would be annoyed and tell them to go away. I don’t disagree with anyone on that point.
The gym is small– but I like that– I don’t get lost with the abundance of stuff. The women’s facility upstairs does make me laugh but I also like that they have it. The classes are amazing– I am a boot camp fanatic!!! Well worth the money! The gym is a gym. I love the fact that its so straight forward. The sauna’s do need maintenace a lot which is frustrating because I am avid user of the sauna. I’ve never stepped foot in the hot tub because it creeps me out. The locker rooms are well maintained and the shower stalls are clean.
Most importantly the staff is AMAZING. Liz and Emmanuel at the front desk know me by name and always make me feel welcome. Travis, the fitness manager is incredible and always answers my questions for me. And Justin is a very knowledgable trainer (all the trainers are really).
There is an LA Fitness within a minute WALKING distance from me… Vision Quest is a 15 – 20 minute drive for me to go to, but I remain faithful to Vision Quest because of the success and treatment I have found there. Sure there’s some cons but overall the pros FAR outweigh the cons.

I wish I could give this place zero stars.
I don’t mind that the place is a little dirty and small. What I do mind is the highly aggressive nature of their staff constantly hounding me into buying their supplements/​vitamins/​protein shakes.
They offer great monthly specials which is why I checked it out in the first place, but they don’t tell you that you have to pay for all the months in the membership all at once, all up front. A previous reviewer said it well — they really «do everything short of holding you hostage to get you to sign a contract.» I ended up signing a contract against my better judgement because the gym was so close to my house. I regretted it from day one, and every single time I went to work out, at least once a staff member would interrupt me with sales pitches to buy stuff from them. I always felt like I was inside of some demented infomercial. I was there strictly to exercise, not to be pressured into buying products I don’t need or want.
The last time I went in I was actually running on the treadmill with headphones on, concentrating on my workout and some «trainer/​salesman» came up and stood beside the machine to me waiting for me to listen to him. I stopped my music and he started with the pitch, «So what vitamins are you taking? Have you heard about _​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​? We have a special on them right now.» He wouldn’t take «leave me alone» for an answer and I ended up stopping my workout and leaving very angrily.
I never went back in until today to cancel my membership (which you have to do physically in person — not on the phone — so they can hound you into not quitting, and they will actually demand that you explain to them exactly why you are quitting before they will cancel your membership.
Screw that. Too frustrating to spend your money here. Go anywhere else.

My wife and I had a trial membership and thought we would stop in and get the paper work out of the way before starting this Trial from Living social. It was like a feeding frenzy. Like getting caught in a time share meeting .
We turned and left and are never going back. Living Social wouldn’t give us a return because it had been past five days. Live and learn as far as I’m concerned don’t buy anything not intended on using in five days from Living Social and don’t ever believe in trial from gyms (Vision Quest). I was just told from a friend that its still Just as bad. Are there any smaller places around to work out anymore?

I purchased an eversave coupon for $ 7 for 5 weeks of gym membership and 5 personal training sessions. The gym is right down the hill from my house so I figured I’d give it a go. When I pulled up I felt like I was going to a small copy center with the flashing lights up front. When I walked in for my 8p PT appt. I was told my trainer called in sick…(so why didn’t you call me?) the night manager (I’m guessing) Aaron said he’d do my session for me. After about 20 minutes he asked me how long the PT session is supposed to be, the ad said 45 – 60 mins. We worked out for about 30 and at the end he was trying to advertise for the supplements the gym sells. Fail.
For $ 16 membership you get full access to the gym… which is small right now but they are expanding. They have a space upstairs for only women and classes. I agree with one of the reviewers — the place is 1) small 2) smelly (but it’s a gym) 3) dirty, and 4) unprofessional. I have a membership at LA Fitness and they welcome me by my first name, they are friendly, helpful and they don’t try to push supplements off on me. My training session with them was a full hour with helpful tips and nutrition information (for $ 30 a month you get your money’s worth).
However, upside to VQ is the $ 16 membership and they have kickboxing classes… this is if you can stand the grime of the gym downstairs. Interestingly enough the downtown Seattle location looks more like an LA Fitness. Not sure where the continuity comes into play… neverthless, if you don’t care too much about cleanliness the $ 16 is worth it.

I recently completed a trial membership at this location and cannot recommend it. They constantly hound you into joining the gym — I don’t know how many times I was pressured into joining.
The worst part is that their GM is the most unprofessional GM I have ever dealt with. Not once, but twice did he «schedule» me for a personal training appointment, only he never actually put me in the appointment book and when I showed up I would have to reschedule again. I actually felt bad for my trainer and he had no answers as to why it happened. I got no explanation from the GM, not even an apology. I might expect that from a regular staffer, but not from the GM, what a poor representation of the company.

I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it.
This gym has honestly given me a new outlook on fitness. Ever since day one, everyone in the gym has gotten to know me, and other friends I have made there. They go out of their way to say hi and keep it personalized. The facility itself isn’t as snazzy as LA Fitness, but I don’t care. Everything I need is there, including great trainers and staff. Robert is a fantastic trainer. Weekend Warrior and AB LAB with Ryann on Saturday mornings gets me through not only the weekend, but the rest of my week. Boot camp with Shelby pushes your endurance. I feel like they are my friends and I want to be there, I want to keep working out, and I want to push myself. They even have a Biggest Loser Competition where people have lost up to 90lbs in 90 days! Everything that comes with and around this gym is extremely motivating, even for people who are just starting to workout.
Free classes with membership, offer of great supplements (Workout Extreme is amazing!), great training, and the cheapest monthly fee I have ever paid anywhere! I feel comfortable here, whereas LA Fitness, you can have the same person check you in EVERY DAY and STILL not remember your name, creepy people staring at you, and it seems like a place that you need to work out before you even get there! I would recommend Vision Quest Sport and Fitness (and I have!!) to all my friends!
