One of the best wineries north of San Francisco. Fantastic location, nice and friendly people, and fantastic wine! Definitely recommend stopping here if you’re in the area!

Made a quick stop here during the Holiday Open House Thanksgiving weekend for some bubbly. I had tastings of the Almondine and the Framboise and possibly the Grand Cuvee(can’t really remember, though). Initially enjoyed the Almondine and the Framboise very much but the more I drank… I guess it just got a little old to me, but it really could be wine overload, so… The Almondine really did smell like almonds and was very sweet smelling. Would be perfect on a hot day. The Framboise, also would be best enjoyed on a hot day. Both were very sweet, maybe a tad bit too sweet, but were quite refreshing none the less. As for the tasting room itself, it’s small and mostly resembles a store w/a bar in the center of it. I wish they had more than the one restroom, but the place is small, so I guess that’s all you can expect. Nice to have the sparkling wines in the area to jazz things up a bit.

In my review for VJB Cellars I said this is one of the few wineries we ALWAYS stop at when visiting Sonoma. There are several others that we often visit, but the only other one that we’re guaranteed to go to is SL Cellars. The tasting room is a decent size, not too big, not too small. MiMi has helped us every time we go in and shes always great — super friendly and happy to chat and tell you all about the champagne & wines. What I think they’re most known for is they’re variety of champagnes. They have three main types: a «regular» champagne(Grand Cuvee), an almond flavored, and a raspberry(framboise) champagne. The almondine & framboise sound a little intense but its excellently balanced and I’ve yet to meet anyone(even non-champagne drinkers) who said they didn’t like either. The first«wine club» we joined was actually the Sparklers Club at SL, which delivers 2 bottles of champagne ever other month. They also do an EXCELLENT Pinot & Syrah that probably don’t get as much attention as they deserve, but are well worth a taste if you’re stopping by.

This is a fairly small tasting room, but it was a worthwhile stop. The woman pouring for us let me split up the flights so i could taste the ones i wanted. They have some great champagne here,(and I don’t even like champagne.) I also liked that they have small bottles of the champagne for purchase. I couldn’t finish an entire bottle in one sitting, so this worked well for me. I got a small one to share when my friend visits, and it is soooooo good. I would definitely come back!

Excellent wines. Great manager — Marty Paradise. Fair prices. Nice grassy picnic area, though a bit too close to Hwy 12, lot’s traffic noise. During the summer this place is the activity hub for Kenwood with live music, comedy shows, community fund raisers, etc…

Came to SL Cellars as part of the Heart of Sonoma Valley Barrel Tasting Event. SL Cellars is one of the smaller wineries in the Sonoma Valley and just sits right off of the 12. SL is an old school house transformed into a Wine Tasting Room. It has a nice come here and sit for a while feels and a nice little park area that you can go to for a light lunch. SL Cellars specializes in Sparkling Wine. They had some of the betters ones I tasted this weekend. The had an almond and raspberry sparkling wine that is worth the stop and tasting. Food Wise, they had a nice cheese and cold cuts spread along with the delicious fondue. So here is how I would rate the SL Cellars: Tasting Room/Grounds: 4 Stars Food Pairing: 3 Stars Wine: 4 Stars Extras: 4 Stars Definitely earned it’s 3.75 rating and if you are in the mood for sparking, this is a must stop.
