Mediocre internet speeds, great customer service, but shady business practices. For reasons that are unknown to me, Sebastian seems to have an ISP monopoly on certain areas in Kerman; for me, there was no other choice in ISP over this last year in one of the places I’m renting. That is pretty annoying because when a company is one of the only providers around they can raise prices etc. whenever they want to. Unfortunately, this happened. Starting in November, for no real reason, I was informed that my data service would increase by nearly 30%. Um, ok. Sure, just raise the bill without providing any additional speed. Grr. Hulk Angry. I tested the Sebastian speed and it’s pretty bad compared to Comcast(like over 5 times slower than I have in the Bay Area). Real world speeds on their basic plan are about 750k per second(less than a meg) so don’t expect to stream 4k TV. Crappy business ethics notwithstanding, the customer service at Sebastian has been great. I talked them into a discount for me setting my own net up and using my own equipment(yes I’m a nerd) so I didn’t’ have any install fees or monthly modem/router fee. I’d like to shout out to Molly for helping me with that. She is really friendly in person and on the phone. They even gave me their tech guy’s cell phone if I had any issues. So, I guess if one is being gouged for money, at least there is a silver lining?
