Better then average resturant BBQ, not the best but far from the worse. The Mac and cheese on the other hand was not great or even good. The Bush puppies were awesome. I’d eat here again and I do BBQ a lot.

Probably best in Kernersville. Great breakfast too. It’s nice to see an old business still going without all the new fancy décor. Feels genuine. Smells great.

I have eaten their Lexington Style Pork BBQ(Coarse Chopped, preferred) many times, in house & take out, their Southern Chili Dog, their country cooking items(CS Steak, and Fried Okra are really nice), and even a very nice Grilled Chicken Salad, but until today I’d never tried their breakfast menu. After trying it, I find that I approve of breakfast here. I had 2 soft scrambled eggs(perfectly done, soft but not yucky), sausage patties, grits, toast, and coffee, for $ 4.58, tax included. I sort feel this value is going to be hard to beat.

Random observation: There are some really great food spots on 66 between I40 and 40 Business in Kernersville. I am including this place. Is it ok for me to say that this is a prototypical NCBBQ joint? I think so. Yes it is hole in the wall. The building is old, spent, worn, whatever. The tiles on the ceiling and floor, the padding on the seats, the faux wood tables, the vents, etc. This sounds about right. It shouldn’t be upscale or whatever. This said, it doesn’t lack cleanliness or whatever. I am happy to say unlike some BBQ joints, they use real plates and silverware. Thanks. I ordered a coarse chopped plate(8.59). The menu shows it as 1⁄3 lb BBQ with fries, BBQ slaw, puppies. You can sub out the sides with other sides. These are listed on two chalkboards on the walls. I swapped the fries and slaw out with okra and mac and cheese. I absolutely love fried okra. Thanks for having this. Ok the BBQ. The coarse chopped texture is perfect. I love it. The 1⁄3 lb was more than enough. I often feel when I get a plate at some BBQ places, I get more sides than BBQ(looking at you Stameys). Not here. The pork is sauced nicely from the kitchen but there is some on each table if you want to drown it. I didn’t think it needed it. The pork was moist, tender, full of flavor, yada yada. Plainly put, I would come here over any place in Greensboro. Excellent. The sides were more of the same. The okra was fried perfectly. The mac and cheese is a good version. I am glad that you could swap out from the typical fries/slaw crap that you see everywhere else. Thanks. They had maybe ten sides listed on the boards. I also felt like I got a good amount. I am a bottomless pit and I left satisfied. Some BBQ places leave me wanting after I get a plate. Not here. Still looking at you Stameys. The puppies are a sweet cornmeal. I like the ring shape as opposed to the typical shapes you get elsewhere. Mine were a tad undercooked for my liking, but good. This plate was good all around. For 8.59, I thought this was a great value. Do it. My waitress was pleasant and decent overall for a place like this. No problems. Will come back if I ever drive west on 40 again which I rarely do. Well done.

I went here about a month ago, and the place was so dirty and gross! Our table was sticky and smeared with sauce, even after a half-hearted swipe from our server, and my shoes stuck to the floor, like that old vintage movie-theater floor feeling. The onion rings were good, but kind of bizarre, and my boyfriend said the meat was very bland. That being said, it’s amazing for people watching, and we loved playing«count the mullet,» and everyone was really friendly! In short, great waitstaff, mediocre but reasonably priced food, but it is VERY unclean there!

Clark’s serves up a really good representation of «Lexington Style» BBQ. It is especially a great option if you are in Greensboro or surrounding areas and don’t want to drive all the way to Lexington. I’ll start, as I normally do in BBQ reviews, by saying that I prefer Eastern NC Style BBQ. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I think that Clark’s does a great job with their Lexington Style Cue’. Normally I find this style of BBQ to be fatty and soggy, but that is not the case at Clark’s. I ordered the Coarse Chopped BBQ sandwich, which according to the menu means that it has the outside brown with the salt and spice from the rub, the wood smoked flavor, and chunks of lean meat from the center cut meat. Well it makes for some delicious BBQ. The pork was moist and tender with hints of the wood flavor. I picked half of the meat directly off of the sandwich before I realized I better save some. I got my sandwich with cole slaw(not a huge fan of BBQ Slaw). The slaw was sweet and they added a good amount of pepper to it. My only complaint was that I found the sauce that they provided kind of bland. It really didn’t add much to the meat, and I honestly think that the meat has so much flavor that you’re better off without the sauce. I also got the Clark’s Dog«their way.» It came with mustard, chili, cole slaw, and onions. This hot dog was awesome! I think it might have actually been better than the BBQ. They toast the bun perfectly, without charring or making it too hard. The dog had good flavor and was of the red variety. The sweet cole slaw with pepper really brought it together. I really didn’t get a lot of the chili’s flavor, but that is probably because the slaw was piled on. This is a messy dog, but it is delicious. The service at Clark’s was great. I decided to sit outside(because the weather was so nice) during off hours. I was the only one out there, but my waitress never forgot about me. She was very friendly and helpful. My food also came out extremely quickly. Also, this place is well priced. I got a sweet tea, fully loaded hot dog, and a BBQ sandwich for $ 8. The sweet tea was above average, but I expected better from a BBQ joint. I will definitely be back to Clark’s. The atmosphere is nothing flashy, but they do have some outdoor seating. This BBQ joint serves up a good representation of Lexington Style BBQ. I would highly recommend getting the Coarse Chopped option. They’re hot dogs also hit the spot. It is a good local place with good food, friendly service, and affordable prices. Definitely worth a drive from Winston or Greensboro.

Our realtor introduced us to Clark’s when we were househunting in Kville, and the staff welcomed us to the area right off. We love their chopped & especially their coarse chopped sandwiches, and their hush puppies are the best I’ve ever had.(FYI the hush puppies are O’s & look like onion rings… reason being, they can get a good even fry on them that way. So bad for you. But so tasty.) Check the chalkboard for the veggies of the day; there are usually a dozen or more of them. Of course, this is the South, so mac & cheese counts as a veggie. And it’s good too!

As far as BBQ in K-Vegas, this place is the winner. Lexington style Q, solid taste, tender easy to eat. Slaw is good and the hush puppies are solid also. Fries leave a lot to be desired. The Q has a smoked taste and all around good flavor and texture. The building has a weird layout, its looking a little dated. Parking lot is not paved. A flat pain to get in and out of. The service is very hit or miss. Sometimes I get good service. Sometimes I get ignored. Or the waitress will do a disappearing act. Other sandwiches on the menu are acceptable, such as the cheeseburger and hot dog. They also offer breakfast, but they sure dont get in any hurry to do it. Unless you want to blow over an hour waiting on sausage and eggs you had better look elsewhere for breakfast. Its average at best anyway. All in all its an OK place to get BBQ or a sandwich. Service needs help.

Chopped Barbecue Tray! Barbecue Slaw! Hushpuppies! NC doesn’t get any better than this. 10AM. Me: «is it too early for barbecue?» Waitress: «Honey, it’s never too early for barbecue. Hey, Ralph! First barbecue of the day!»

I had a fantastic visit to Clark’s BBQ for an early dinner before heading to a graduation ceremony. My server, Hannah, took excellent care of me. Her service really made this a five star visit. I ordered the course chopped plate and it came with fries, slaw, and hushpuppies. The pork was awesome. I really enjoyed the big pieces and didn’t even need to add sauce. Of course, I did and everything worked out perfectly. The fries were crispy and well seasoned and the hushpuppies were great(especially with the honey butter that Hannah brought out for me). I will definitely return to Clark’s in the future. It’s worth the drive from Winston-Salem.

Friendly servers as you enter is always a plus when trying a new spot. I went with the coarse sandwich and a dog. Both have pretty good reviews so here we go. Coarse sandwich had big, moist chunks(no sauce), with sweet slaw on top. the table had jars of Lexington style sauce that you had to douse in order to taste it. The dog was tasty but felt kinda cold. I expected better but I won’t count it out without another try all in all it was an okay place

I had the chopped pork plate with fried squash and green beans. The pork was delicious but fatty and I was disappointed in the available BBQ sauces on the table. There was only sauce and regular Texas Pete’s hot sauce. The green beans were nothing spectacular but I really did enjoy the fried squash. The hush puppies were interesting and look like onion rings and actually have a bit of an oniony taste(like Funyuns). Overall a decent meal, nicely priced. But not the best BBQ you’ve ever had.

Lunch Jul 25 Great value for the money here. Lots of choices for sides(most I have ever seen at a BBQ joint). You get your meat and a coleslaw(your choice BBQ style or regular) and 2 sides! Sides I really liked: BBQ Slaw, Creamy Slaw, Baked Beans, Okra Sides I didn’t like: corn(bland no flavor), Mac-n-cheese(mushy noodles) 3 choices to get your BBQ — Chopped, Sliced Coarse(which is different) Really like the BBQ Pork Ribs — smoked, flavorful, juicy and they basically feel off the bone. To me the RIBS were better than the Pork and even though they provided sauce for the Ribs, it wasn’t really needed. Not a big fan of NC style BBQ — but this was okay. Thought the Chopped Pork was 10X better than the Coarse Pork(which to me was just big chunks of pork that was to big to soak up any sauce or flavor) — so go with the Chopped. Will go back again after I try a few more area BBQ joints. Oh yeah, they do take credit cards(i didn’t see the usual stickers on the door)

Not the best, not the worst — BBQ was moist, tender and flavorful — slaw was good — the hush puppies were not the best I have ever had — a little dry but also greasy and kinda just tasted like onion rings. They were out of a lot of things which was a bit disappointing. We were a large group — 9 of us — but the service was really quite slow — slow getting our food and slow getting our check. If you want classic NCBBQ at a good price, worth the stop, but burgers lots of the other people with us ordered were small and quite dismal. Oh well.

BBQ Coarse Chopped some Outside Meat with Brown — Good Flavor with No Extra Sauce, Very Good when Drowned in Sauce BBQ Slaw! Yum — They offer the Mayo Version! No Thanks for me the BBQ Slaw is the one I like, Ketchup instead of Mayo… Though this one had too much Ketchup, still Good! Better when I added BBQ Sauce! Hush Puppies look like Onion Rings taste very good almost like Donuts BBQ Sauce vinegar based simple and fansativk simply fanastik! I used Half the Bottle with my meal(No Exaggeration HALF)! and yesT I do Have spellject! After that much Sauce see what you see and say! Good olé Boys, clowning this place at Lunch, no Girls today at Lunch time except the Waitresses! Country Music and Country Décor! Glad that 18 Wheeler was blocking Highway 66 so I could eat here today and save that other place for later!
