Kern River Valley Gun Association

This is a private range owned by the Kern River Valley Gun Association. It is easy to find and close to many of the campgrounds and motels in the area. Their ranges are very well maintained. There is a pistol range, rifle range, shotgun/​trap range, archery range, and cowboy action area. Portable restrooms are available. They have target frames you can borrow, but they do not sell ammo, targets, or anything else; although they sometimes have sodas for sale they did not have any the day we visited.
Everyone there was very friendly and welcoming even though we were non-​members. Definitely a more laid-​back, yet still safety oriented atmosphere than most ranges. They are open to the public on Sundays from 8am-​1pm. The trap range is also open to the public on Wednesdays. A great place to stop by is you’re going camping in the area and have your equipment with you.
