UNDERNEWMANAGEMENT! The place is cleaner, super friendly bartenders and cooks, and great food. The onion rings are awesome. On Thursdays they have an open blues jam! Beer, food, and music… cant go wrong there!

NEVERGOHERE! I have never been attacked like this in a bar. This is like a dive bar with a dance floor. I was on the dance floor when some guy attacked me and punched me in the head several times. The attacker stayed in the bar and looked at me as I was sitting on the side of the dance floor. Why was he not kicked out? I guess fighting is OK in this bar. Later I decided to go back on the dance floor. Soon after that some big guy got me in a head lock and said that I better leave. While I was in the head lock, the guy that attacked me the first time, came over and punched me again several times. I was defenseless in a headlock from another guy. I was kicked out of the bar and exited out the back door. I was a little scared the guy that attacked me twice in the bar would attack me outside. Maybe I should have called the cops. At the time I was not sure it was this dive bar’s fault, but now I think it clearly is. I may be calling the police still because this fighting should not be allowed in any bar. STAYAWAY!

Only been here once and I can tell you that it is a great dive bar. When we got into the palce the bouncer checked our ID’s and let us know that if anyone gives us any trouble to let him know. I thought that was pretty cool and what a real dive bar should be like. The Bartender was very friendly and talkative. Their selection of beer is limited but they do have a decent selection of hard liquor and will make any drinks you request as long as they have the stuff to do it. The night we went there was a local band playing and it was pretty good. If I am ever back in the area again I will make sure to go back!

The Hut is by far the best bar in Kernville. They have the best music and the best bartenders… super friendly. My biggest complaint would have to be the restrooms. However, if we(the patrons) would use the facility as if it were our home, perhaps they wouldn’t be quite so dirty. Just saying…

This place stinks! Cockroaches in the mens room, dirty glasses and sticky seats. What happens at The Hut stays at The Hut, except herpes. You’ll bring that sh*t back home as a souvenir from visiting this local dive. Believe me.

When it’s 100 degrees outside, an ice cold beer in a frosty mug never tasted so good. Sure, they only have two brands to choose from on tap, but I can tell you they’re both cold, and less than $ 4. It’s enough for me. The Hut is a true dive bar, complete with patrons who unabashedly smoke inside. Can you really call yourself a dive bar if you don’t have that stale smoke smell? We stopped in late afternoon, but I have a feeling it’s a good scene at night. There’s a dance floor and a stage, a pool table and juke box. Check out the wall decorations — at least a thousand dollar bills taped to the wall, and even the ceiling, each one decorated and signed by bar goers. Friendly bartenders too.

Booze and destruction. Those were the two things I had in mind before going out on the town. And The Hut definitely helped me achieve those two things. Walking into the place I was hit with a sonic blast from the house band(I believe they were called Jest Reason), which apparently consisted of Gallagher(the comedian) on vocals. He was gooood. He sang a number of songs to a tee, without letting up. He nailed it basically. Especially when he started playing Chuck Berry and we all decided to destroy the dancefloor. The walls were adorned with dollar bills signed by various patrons. And I’m not talking about a few bills… I’m talking wall to ceiling to other wall to other wall. It was a pretty dingy place, but that’s pretty much what you expect in a place like Kernville. Not as many slack jawed yokels as I thought. Actually, there really wasn’t anybody except for us and a couple or two. I can’t remember how much the drinks were because my buddy was buyin’ rounds but he did make my Gin n’ Tonic pretty strong. Eventually, we got restless and wanted more of a crowd. So, we took a picture with the band, bid adieu to Gallagher and stumbled all the way to Kern River Saloon. Needless to say, The Hut was a footnote in my night, but I definitely will be re-visiting when I come back.

This place gets rowdy as hell. I used to like it when Holy Mackerel played here. I get trashed when I’m here.
