Home Improvement Specialists – Dave Meseck

I entered into a contract with David Meseck of Home Improvement Specialists on October 6, 2014 in Kerrville, Texas, Kerr County for a turn-​key job to build a wrap around deck with a full wrap railing, ADA ramp, two sets of stairs & a wrap around metal roof with decking. This contract included all materials, labor and a completion time of 2 weeks for a total of $ 18,000.00.
I paid $ 12,000.00 for the material on 10−6−14. Dave Meseck received a labor draw for $ 3,000.00 on 10−10−14. The remaining $ 3,000.00 was to be due upon completion of job.
On October 17^th Dave Meseck told me that he needed $ 4,500.00 in addition to the contract or he would be unable to complete the job. Dave Meseck complained that he was unable to pay labor out to his employees and had no money for material!
During the 2 weeks he was on my property building I noticed he has brand new hand tools, tables saws, metal saw horses, wheel barrows, tool belts, tarps, etc. Dave Meseck squandered the material money and purchased a new rig up for his business and then sobbed that he had no money to finish the job & attempted to carry the burden over to me at my expense.
I already paid for all the material and I am missing decking boards, deck screws, rafters, 5/​8″ decking for the roof and the metal sheets for the roof and the metal flashing, rail boards and hog panels for the wrap around hand railing.
David Meseck has not shown up since Oct. 21^st. He left me with an unfinished deck and I had already paid him $ 15,000.00. I have called Dave but he never answered my calls or returned my messages. He carries his cell phone with him at all times.
David Meseck frequents Lowe’s Home Improvement stores to buy his tools and materials. He wears a neon green t-​shirt and a blue head wrap. He drives a white truck.
Dave Meseck lives at 41 Wildcat Loop Kerrville, TX 78 028. I would put a judgment on him but he does not own land in Kerr county.
I am filing this theft of service with the attorney General. I am also filing a small claims against him to complete the job. I will file a complaint with Better Business Bureau. I intend to leave my reviews on Angie’s List, Unilocal and any other review outlet.
Stay away from this contractor. He will squander money & desert the job or try to get you to pay more than what he quotes you. He will leave you high & dry. This guy has no money or professionalism.
