It was a decent diner with decent food in a TERRIBLE location. You have the projects three blocks away and a shady ass deli next to it as well.

Barely any waiter in there speaks proper English. They did not understand what I wanted and ended up giving me something wrong. One of the waitresses was very impatient since the moment me and my family entered. It was not a busy day, but she became so weary when we took some time ordering food. Service is poor, food is alright, I would skip tip if I could :(

I’ve been going here for years. I am glad to see it has reopened. I brought a few friends here to eat for the first time. Great food and service. The many DRUGDEALERS in wheel chairs(They at times walked down the street on their own so don’t feel bad for them.) sitting 3 feet from us on the other side of the glass lent an air of the digenerate life to our meal. Here I am bringing friends to eat at a place I enjoy and this is what they see. We watched the transactions take place with no attempt to conceal it. I was ashamed for Myself and the Dominican Diner. How can I ever bring friends here again.

This restaurant has poor service and the food was mediocre at best. Just the regular diner menu is unexciting. I haven’t had a chance to try any of the Spanish dishes but everything looks mediocre. This is a place I most likely will not return to in the future.

Food is mediocre, staff is rude, I do not get what is the hype with this place it’s usually really busy. The morir soñando was pretty good besides that I haven’t had a dish in here that would make me go back.

This place is not great. I’ve had MUCH better spanish food and much better experiences elsewhere. I’ve gone here a few times because I go to school right next door. First of all, I have to say that the wait staff is SOO rude. If you don’t speak spanish, good luck! They are really slow in bringing food and almost never come to check if everything is ok. The lady that I had most recently was extremely rude and when SHE messed up my order for chicken and gave me shrimp instead, she charged me for both. I didn’t even bother trying to talk to a manager to fix the problem, I just wanted to get outta there! Plus they wouldn’t understand since they hardly speak any english. I would never come back here. The food is mediocre but the experience is horrible. Go somewhere else! Save yourself!

Ok Latin place in the middle between Flushing and Kew Gardens. Food is decent but slightly pricy compared to other Colombian or Dominican places on Hillside. Service was horribly slow both times I went for lunch. Go to Tienda Vieja on 69th avenue and Fresh Meadows Lane for better value, food and service.

Caveat Emptor: This place used to be great, but now has digressed into a festering cesspool. They have been given a C health rating multiple times by the state, don’t clean tables between customers, and are even prejudice against the non Spanish speaking customers. Never never never again will I order from this disgusting place. Fast forward: the place has been shutdown by the health department(may 2013). Reopened now closed again(August 2013). September 2013, closed. Sign says it will reopen 2014. Excited that this place is going to get a face lift. The neighborhood needs a good clean diner.

I wrote this same exact review for this place a few years ago when I lived in the neighborhood and I just checked my reviews and it says the place is closed. I don’t know if it was a mistake that someone wrote closed or perhaps it is just the fact that when I wrote the review I wrote it under the wrong name, but the address is the same so that is why I thought I was writing the review of the correct restaurant. There aren’t many restaurants in the area so I don’t know how the mix up could have happened. I started going to Kissena Diner when I first moved here about a year ago. I started walking in the neighborhood looking for places that I would be able to order from because when i first moved in I didn’t have a stove(one month without one) so I found Kissena and realized that it was a Dominican Restaurant. Something that I am very familiar with being that I’ve lived in the BX for so long and I am Dominican as well. Anyway the food here is great and the prices are excellent. U can order a special for like $ 6.50 and you get rice, beans and whatever meat they have already cooked or u can order something that needs to be prepared. It doesn’t take very long for them to make your order and it always taste good. I’ve ordered food from here many times to be delivered and the only complaint i have is that 2 times the delivery man had to come back because he left my rice at the restaurant. All in all I say great Dominican food, Haven’t tried any of the American dishes but thumbs up to the authentic Dominican food. I have since gone back and have ordered dominican breakfast which was good and I also had the boneless chicharon de pollo and the bistec encebollado both very good. Cons– sometimes the wait is too long They don’t know what«over medium» is when you order your eggs that way

Food is ok but service is really bad. Really made you felt unwelcome if you weren’t Spanish as they just outright ignored me. Waited extremely long for take out of the already cooked stew and rice and beans, which just had to be scooped and bagged!

I wanted to like this place SOMUCH. It’s been hard on me. I have been searching high and low in Queens to find a place that makes all kinds of Dominican food really well and I just can’t find it. I went here with my boss. We drove from Forest Hills to Kissena Boulevard for some Dominicana comida. We wanted to love it so bad. I ordered the lunch special, rabo guisado(oxtail stew) and it was just sooooo salty. My boss ordered the chicken with spaghetti, Dominican style, also like a salt lick. WOW. I appreciate them trying and love that there is a Dominican place in the middle of Queens near Forest Hills. Maybe I’ll ask them for less salt… only problem is the stews are made ahead of time. Removing some salt is not a possibility. The search goes on…

This is a Dominican American Diner. The food is really good. I’ve tasted a good amount of items from here. Ive had pepper steak, burgers, seafood soup, snacocho(dominican soup). I can go on for days. The place usually has a crowd, which is a god thing because its more proof that the place has good food. ***this place is also known as KISSENADOMINICANDINER…

Ive lived up the block from this place for almost 4 years now. The first time I ate here, I got sick. The second time, we went nuts over the spanish lunch specials, and dinner last Friday night we were left with bad service, bad food, and vow never to return. The waitress was horrible had an attitude for everything we asked her and got nasty with my friend when she explained her potato skins were not as she ordered them. When they fixed this problem I couldn’t decide it my friend had been better off with the wrong order, or the right one. The salid was flacid, and the gyro meat was extremely chewey. There are so many good diners in Queens that I would never waste my time here again

Food was what I expected. Rice and beans were not as good as I had hoped.(cold and not as tasty) We left tip on the table and paid at the front. Guess waitress likes to be handed the money or doesn’t know tip may be left at the table bc she was talking about us in spanish and gave us a dirty look as I verbally thanked her and the host as we headed out.

I’ve been to the Dominican Diner a few times. They claim to serve standard diner fare as well as Dominican cuisine. Stay away from the non-Dominican food. The geek salad and spaghetti with meatballs should be avoided at all costs. This evening we had the breaded steak and oxtail stew. Both were served with a salad, rice and beans. The breaded steak was nicely crusted on the outside and tender on the inside. Oxtails were tender and flavorful in a savory sauce. Deserts consisted of flan and tres leches. I’ve had better elsewhere, but considering we were on Kissena Blvd I can’t really complain. This place is a nice change from the usual fare the neighborhood has to offer(pizza, Chinese, and fried chicken). Check it out if you’re in the area.

I like their food. I really do. But this time they disappointed me a little bit. 1. I said«No onion» in my salad but there was«No exception.» 2. My grilled steak came out cold. I could taste the steak, but I didn’t expect cold steak. :(

It is a typical diner plus some special dominican findings such as plantains and stews. I had a delicious Dominican Breakfast made with masserated Plantains and I also ate a Cubano Sandwich. That was very tastey. There was a lot of pork in my Cubano Sandwich. It isn’t the expected pannini pressed Cubano that I’m used to, but tasted great the way it was. It wasn’t a Cubano Diner, this is Dominican style afterall. Service seems like they could get easily overwhelmed because I can see that they aren’t that well organized to begin with. They were ok with us. It wasn’t so busy the day we went.
