Pioneer Club

I can’t comment on everyday business because I have only been here once as I played a show here with my band not too long ago. For a little bar in the middle of nowhere, the live music setup isn’t bad. The show itself however was very disorganized. The owners waited until last minute to clear the tables out for the show. Sound guy was lazy (didn’t even bother to soundcheck anything!) And they didn’t even provide a drum rug. I’ve played bars way lower scale than this and they at least provided a drum rug. They also cut our set 10 minutes short of our agreed-​upon time slot for a completely unknown reason, probably to give the headliner more time. But the band after us got to play their full set time and the headliner took FORTY MINUTES to set up and FINALLY start playing a half hour AFTER they were supposed to start and THEY even still got to play their full set time! As an opening band coming from over 100 miles away, looking to expand our fanbase, we were livid! If you’re gonna host live music, do your job right and make sure the event is perfectly 100% organized and agreed upon and don’t purposefully screw the bands! Other than that, the bar staff was pretty friendly and they had a decent selection of shots for only $ 1.00, so definitely can’t complain about that! I would return here to hang out on a long roadtrip or something in the future, have some food or a few drinks or something, but from a live music standpoint, I probably would not play here again.

Not being from Kewanee I would not typically drive through town to try this place out, that being said I am glad I found it! I came in for lunch and the place was not very bust as we arrived just before the prime lunch hour (11:00am) the menu is well priced and they have Horseshoes! this is the only restaurant this far north that serve the «Springfield original» as tempting as a horseshoe was I opted for a Philly chicken sandwich, it came out on a hoagie bun and was massive for only $ 6 this was deal! it was so big I wish I would of split it but instead I maned up and took on the extra calories.
I only drank water on this trip but the tap selection was pretty decent, and the prices were very very awesome, They had a nice outdoor patio area which I am sure rocks in the summer.
Overall my personal experience was very good, I did see some shady lack luster employees which is probably where the poor service comes into play but my particular service rocked. I would give The Pioneer club 5 stars for what it was how ever I did witness those lack luster employees, so while my service was not affected others where and well it very well could of been me.

Decent bar food. Decenet number of tvs. Relatively cheap drinks.
BAD service — we had to flag down our server several times to order more drinks. Even worse, this happens every time we are there, even though it is never the same server. I plan to avoid this place whenever possible.
