Miami Open Tennis Season Ticket Holders BEWARE! IMG, the ticketing agency, is either just incompetent or dishonest or both. I have held tickets to the same two seats at the Miami Open since 1997, when it was The Lipton Championship. No problem ever with ticket renewal until IMG took over ticketing in 2011. I moved from Chicago to San Francisco in 2011. I notified IMG of the move with new address and contact info. They still sent renewal info to my old Chicago address for the 2012 event. I gave IMG all the new contact info again. In 2013 IMG had my correct info. In 2014 IMG had no record of receiving the USPS renewal payment delivered to their address. It took a phone call to straighten that out. This year it occurred to me in July that I had not received renewal info from IMG. I called IMG and was told ‚“Your seats were sold, because you missed the renewal deadline.” IMG claimed to have called me on the phone, but at the Chicago number I had them change in 2011 and 2012. The did have my correct SF address and email and said they had sent three letters and an email about renewal. I say that is simply not true. Like most US residents, I get US Mail six days per week, and I never got any mailing from IMG. I checked my email and spam folders and found nothing from IMG. To «accomodate» me, Justin, the IMG supervisor, offered me seats for the Final Four Package in four different locations – Just not the same as the same two seats for the past 14 years. Be aware that IMG is incompetent and very likely to screw up your annual ticket renewal and then claim it was all your fault.

My father is a tennis fanatic and my son enjoys watching matches with him.
I’ve been here twice and not really any complaints. It does get packed during tournaments.
I like that you can park far away and they have busses that will take you to and from the main location.

This is one of the most well run sporting events in the world.

Tennis is my favorite sport, my second is soccer. I have been playing tennis since I was only eight years old. My aunt taught me how to play and when I was small I would enjoy watching her play and go to tournaments back in our country. She is no longer with me and watching tennis always bring great memories that we both shared and haven’t been forgotten. I play often when I find a partner to play, I still have her racket and to just hold it brings chills down my spine.
This place is great, with great courts of all types. Hard, clay (green and red) and also one grass court. You can play at the stadium if you wish too! The store is very simple, but the people are very nice and helpful. It is amazing that the general public can just turn up and pay a few dollars to play on the same courts as the professional men and women at the Miami Masters, where the Williams’ Sisters, Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro train regularly (and can often be spotted). This is an astonishing public facility, with plentiful parking, a friendly little shop, decent changing facilities and, for a few dollars more, floodlights. But, above all, oh the courts! The courts! Very special indeed.
I came to see Serena Williams and Sharapova open the event tournaments. It was amazing to see such energy, such talent and such great sportsmanship. The prices have increased but again what hadn’t now a days. If you like tennis make sure that you check out one of the games, they will keep you on your toes. For me it brought back great memories and a joy that was tucked away in a little corner of my soul.

At Crandon park Tennis center they celebrate every year around march one of the best Tennis tournament in the world, the Sony open, always coming the best tennis players, it is in a great area surrounding by great nature, beaches, it has a lot of different tennis courts, you can see very close tennis players playing games, practicing without buying expensive tickets, you have a lot of parking there, very easy to go from airport, downtown Miami and other areas, always they sell a lot of souvenir, foods and beverage are a little bit expensive, you can make some test there to try your tennis skills at no expensive cost, main tennis court are a great installation, you can take photos there; if you play tennis and live around here, you can go there and rent courts to play, the prices are acceptable; even if you don’t practice or like to much tennis I think it is a good idea to go to the tournament it is a unique experience you are not going to forget in you life, every tournament it is very different, too much energy there.

The Sony Open is so cool! I mean first you have to be some what of a fan of tennis or this will be not your cup of tea. Then you wouldn’t really spend 60−70+ bucks on a ticket anyways…
Back on topic… every year in March the Sony Ericsson Open have been bringing in some big name tennis stars all around the world. Fans of tennis can buy tickets to the big game that is playing at the Grand Stadium during the day or evening. It’s really not guarantee who you see because it’s dependent on how every one is playing, unless you buy your ticket day of the match. A valid ticket entitles you to all of the other qualifying games on the smaller courts inside so sometimes you get to see some really big names real up close! We all usually tried go in right when the ticket allows. For example, a 8 PM evening game, you will be able to go in through the gate by 5 PM.
The food vendors there aren’t great. They have a place that sells sweet and savory crepes; burgers, tenders, and fries; fried seafood such as fried fish and crab cakes; and sushi inside the Moet champagne area. Nothing is really memorable, if you can wait, I would really eat before or after and just get a snack while you’re there. The prices of a typical item is around 9 – 15 dollars. There is also plenty of kiosk that sells alcohol too. Like I have already mentioned, theres the Moet champagne tent, barcardi, and bombay. It gets a little rowdy but not uncontrollable.
I’m totally game on going again next year. See you there!

So many good memories here. Been going here since it was the lipton back in the day. It is always a good time. Every USTA kid grew up going to this event every year.

I have been attending since 1985.
It is so great that this event is in South Florida.
Go early in the tournament for the best tennis, you are surrounded by it.
Bring large hats and lots of sunscreen.

I’ve been coming to this tournament for a few years now. I have two cousins who volunteer as ball boys/​girls and in exchange for volunteering they get several free tickets for their family members. I attended this event on 03÷20÷13 for the evening round. That day I got to see (in action) Francesca Schiavone, Jana Cepelova, and one of my celebrity crushes James Blake. I also saw Marion Bartoli (but this was at the Winn-​Dixie down the street from Crandon Park).
That day it had rained torrentially so many games had to be postponed and the courts had to be dried. This setting is 80% outdoors (some restaurants and shops have covers and roofs but for the most part everything is exposed to the elements).
You have to come here with money. Even a bottle of water or soda can cost as much as $ 5. But hey, everyone who knows tennis knows that this sport is one of money.
I’d say that 75% of the people who attend the Sony tournament are NOT American. At least in my experience, the majority of people I see here come from various parts of Europe and Asia, and I know because I hear them speaking plus they don’t dress like the typical South Floridian.
You will see a lot of famous former tennis players here. Some big-​time names I’ve seen are Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport, and Kim Clijsters. I’ve also seen other celebrities here, mainly music stars. My mom has met Ricardo Arjona, and Redfoo was seen here this year cheering on his girlfriend Victoria Azarenka.
If you plan on attending this, you MUST wear comfortable clothing. Bring bottles so you can fill it up at a water fountain. Wear a lot of sunscreen and bring hats or sunglasses. I also suggest sitting on the vertical sides of the courts when you watch a game instead of horizontally.
It’s a really great sporting event to attend and I highly recommend it to anyone who lives in South FL. It’s worth attending for at least one day.

GREAT EVENT!
This was my first time at this event and what an impression.
Everything was extremely organized and orderly.
Once inside the gates you have an array of options to eat and shop with vendors set up to cater to your taste buds and although they have shops, the shops are mainly geared towards athletic/​tennis attire and gear.
Once inside the stadium you are taken to your seat until the match is ready to start. I was lucky enough to go for free and since it was a day match we were able to see the woman’s final (Maria Sharapova and Agnieszka Radwanska) and men’s double. It was truly amazing to see these athletes in their natural and fit form and with the passion they play the game; I was in awe the entire time.
Between games we were able to grab some lunch on the location and enjoy some people watching while relaxing before the men’s double.
The location has restrooms and the stadium itself has restrooms, which considering the amount of human traffic, was quite clean.
Unfortunately, we were unable to stay for the entire men’s double match because it started sprinkling and then raining but what I thought was pretty cool was that they were handing out poncho’s for free.
Overall, it was a GREAT event and I look forward to going next year. I highly recommend this event even if it’s once in a lifetime.

awesome weather and superb tennis as Scot Andy Murray (coached by Ivan Lendl) demolished Serb Janko Tipsarevic in center court. finals match vs Djokovic is going to be a doozy but world class it most certainly will be. i would love to volunteer next year for this.

Facility is spotless, lot of food options, great facilities…
Much better facility than the US Open and more enjoybable too.
Parking can be a nightmare. Took the Miami Dade Transit bus from Brickell which drops you at the front gate. Low stress option to get you to and from the event.

We got a chance to see Novak play. It was great! The place is clean. There were a lot of bathrooms so I’m not worried about going in a portapotti. Even though the food and drink prices were all jacked up, they had so many variety of them. I had the chicken tenders and fries. It was hot and delicious. General parking was 12 dollars. There are many tour buses that take you back and forth. They are very organized.

Any suggestion on what type of transportation from Miami Beach, Florida to Ericcson Open? I would greatly appreciate it any input. Looking the cheapest way to get there as i will not have a car and staying about 16 miles away from the event. Thanks, Rosa

This event was run so flawlessly. Traffic, safety, and entertainment. Not only is the location absolutely stunning, but the food is amazing, Ben & Jerry’s anyone?

The Sony Ericsson Open is the most well run sporting event in South Florida each year. Between the food, spirits, ambiance, and world class tennis players you really can’t go wrong.
The tournament takes place on Key Biscayne every year so the location is great. It’s almost like taking a mini vacation when you head out to the tournament. They even have free shuttle service that drops you off right in front of the entrance which is pretty convenient.
The food here is always good. They have Latin American, Sushi Maki, One fish two fish, and quite a few others. as for beer and spirits, this year they had Bombay Sapphire, Veuve Clicqot, Heineken, and Bacardi.
As for the actual tennis action, this tournament always brings in the top players in the world. Many of the players on tour consider it to be one of the «unofficial majors» on the tour. The ticket prices are fair and they usually offer good package deals. Every seat in the house is pretty good too. So even if you are in the upper level, and can’t splurge on the lower level box seats, you can still appreciate some good live tennis.
I’d venture to say that even someone who doesn’t like tennis all that much can entertain themselves here. There is plenty to eat, drink, do, and look at while you’re here. There’s even some pretty good shopping here as well.

My friend and I won an all-​expense paid trip to Miami to watch the Sony Ericsson Open this past weekend with a group of business partners, where we had a private box suite in section 219.
Each box suite had a mini kitchen, multiple couches, a fridge, a flatscreen LCD TV (i dont know who would watch it when the matches are literally right outside the windows!), and a shaded outdoor viewing deck.
Also saw Rafael Nadal stumble into a bush, while entering the stadium. LOL. I love this place!

I’ve saved my 50^th review for the one event I look forward to yearly in Miami. I prepare for this event nearly 4 months before it arrives!
I have volunteered 2 years in a row and can’t wait for Novemeber to sign up for the 3^rd year. That’s when they allow access to the site where volunteers can register and select schedules for themselves.
Crandon Park is beautiful. The courts are well maintained and the stadium has more than enough restrooms and water fountains for those hot days!
This tournament is the one rated by all the players as their favorite, and there’s no question as to why. It’s clean, the fans are passionate, fun and supportive, the food and drinks are fantastic, lots of name brand shopping, the whole tournament is very organized and well executed and the players love Miami!
All the top-​ranked players come to this tournament so it’s definately an opportunity to watch the best in action! Don’t miss it!

I’ve been every year for atleast the past 5 years, maybe more. I start to look forward to this tennis tournament once January hits.

*you can get tons of photo ops when the players are hitting in courts not being used.
*it kind of feels like your on vacation, but you’re not.
*it’s like a mini-​disney world in a way, with attractions and shops and places to eat.
*great chance to get a suntan and check out the higher-​end fashion on passerbys.
*the food! they have a great food court but i can never decide, i usually go with the crepes but they also have fish, salads, pasta, latin, pizza, ben & jerrys, and starbucks too.

There was a time in my life when I could have named all the top seeded tennis players in the world. I could have told you their names, recent victories or defeats, their background, their strengths and weaknesses. I was a fan and more importantly I was a devotee.
Years later, tennis is no longer my passion but this year I found myself at the Sony Ericsson Open on Key Biscayne. I suddenly felt the renewed interest in the game. It was fantastic to be able to watch top-​ranked players go at it just a few minutes from my house.
I was impressed by the layout and organization. Attending the SEO is about tennis and the surrounding experience (dining + shopping + drinking). I was particularly fascinated by the Bombay Sapphire Lounge. I picked up a liking to the smash on their menu. Once you find a good cocktail stick to it or rather drink to it. I might just be charmed by the fact that it was such an inviting space, perfect for hanging in between games. Mixology makes everything better!
You can also grab grub, go shopping, and of course… there is tennis.
As far as the viewing: the layout provides for easily strolling and great seats for catching top players.

Love when March comes and it’s time for all Tennis players (Nadal, Simon, Chardy, Youzhny, and more!) to be in Miami, ready to play their best to win, what it’s considered, the fifth Grand Slam.
My favorite days to go are the first Saturday & Sunday, when they’re still in early rounds so you get to enjoy a lot of matches and see a lot of the players, even in the practice courts. Yes, prices have gone up a bit but, so has everything else, and this is worth every penny. Not only you enjoy Tennis, but also, usually, a beautiful day out with friends/​family. And if you want a little extra, this is just a walk away from the beach.
Day sessions usually start at 10am and last until 6pm. Get your ground pass (either by phone, interenet or on-​site) and you’ll have access to every court there except Stadium — where all the top ranked players are. Now, if you want to see Federer, Djokovic, etc you’ll want to buy your tickets early — these sell out fast. Night Sessions are usually less matches but great alternative for those of us who work all day.
They also have vendors and demos around the courts — food, drinks, clothes, etc.
Bonus!!! Since last year, now you can enjoy Beach Tennis as well. This is becoming very popular here in the states and the Tournament has recognized it. The play both professional and amateur levels so, if you want to try it, sign up!
I got my 2 days of Tennis this year, and even thinking of going one more… It’s not over yet and already waiting for next year for more.

This event has been good every year I get the chance to go. The name of the event has changed thru the years, from Lipton, Nasdaq, Ericsson and now Sony Ericsson! The event gives a great opportunity for businesses to put their name out there, i.e. Bombay Sapphire, Starbucks, Fila, Bacardi, Best Buy, Lan, Blue Cross Blueshield, etc. At the site, besides the tennis matches, you will have tons of fun getting goodies at some tents, eating great food (try the grouper at One Fish Two Fish — always a winner!!! and the Marketplace — which serves freshly made salads), drinks, shopping and maybe you can walk by some tennis players!!!
If you plan on getting a Day ticket, matches start @ 11am, plan ahead because parking will be off site — on Virginia Beach. After you park there a bus will take you closer to the site. Plan ahead. Day session ends around 6pm. Night session tickets start at 7pm but you can go in starting at 5pm.
People from ALL over the world come to this event!
