Mr C’s Gourmet Italian Ice Cream

Mr. C’s is a local treasure. Great homemade ice cream in a variety of flavors and it comes in a freshly made warm waffle cone, which is a great touch!

Very quality product made from natural ingredients. Different than any gelato I’ve had before. Will go back again to try Mr C’s sorbet made with real fruit.

Delish homemade ice cream served up by Mr. C himself! I got the pineapple mango sorbet and the coconut cream ice cream. My husband got cookie dough and key lime sorbet and thought they were outstanding. Highly recommended!!!

Homemade, rich, and savory Ice cream. Of our three ice cream experiences in the keys, this is the best. Waffle cones made on the spot. And Mr C serves the ice cream himself:)

Been here many times. The owner Mr C is not the nicest guy in the world. Well… Who cares.
His ice cream is awesome and the most authentic real tasting creamy ice cream I’ve ever had. Put it in a waffle cone.
If you left less then 4 stars due to the fact that you can’t have a free sample of his amazingly delicious ice cream think of it like this. If you go to a local seafood restaurant can you ask to try the lobster before you buy it? And, before you say «it’s just ice cream» think to yourself «who the heck do I think I am?»
This is a mans business and his product. He has the right to run his business as he sees fit. If you don’t like it then get out.
What makes you think that you should get to try it just because it’s ice cream? He doesn’t have time for you or your BS and if I know Mr C like I think I do then he doesn’t give a damn if you buy it or leave. Makes him even more Authentic NY.
If you’re not at least from Florida no one cares what you write here anyway.

Goodness. This ice cream will make you scream. Homemade and so confidently well made that they do not offer samples. Don’t worry though, you’ll love whatever you order. I was able to get 3 different flavors in a small cup: peanut butter cup, coconut & cheesecake. Favorite? The pb cup ferfer. If I were to do it over again, I’d get the pb cup + cookie dough (had bite… or 20 of my husband’s.)
Mr. C himself doesn’t really mind the customer service — again, it’s all about the ice cream.

Wonderful! No artificial flavoring or colors in the gelato. And zero high fructose corn syrup chocolate Oreo was my favorite. Mr. C does seem a bit grouchy but I also think that’s just a part of his italiano bluntness. I do not understand the no sample thing, but get over it, people! Gelato is always good. If I’m ever back in the keys, I’ll be back to Mr. c’s!

The guy at the counter is very rude and unpleasant person.

Awful customer service! I couldn’t decide between two flavors so I asked if I could get a sample. The man behind the counter became instantly angry and said he does not offer samples, all his ice cream is homemade and contains no artificial flavors or colors so if that isn’t good enough for me, I can leave. Then he left and went into the back.
So, my husband and I left. Pretty extreme response to asking a question.

Delicious homemade ice cream with a great assortment of flavors, I had both gelato and ice cream and both were delicious. Mr. C is also a pretty cool guy, whoever called him snarky probably didn’t understand his sense of humor.
Much better ice cream than the Key Largo chocolate factory!

I don’t know if Mr C is actually crabby or if he is just a snarky kind of guy. I tried really hard to engage him but he wasn’t really having it. I had some gelato in a waffle cone that he MADE RIGHT THERE and it was delightful. I can get over snarky when the ice cream is that good.

Pros: Delicious ice cream. We tried chocolate, pistachio, key lime and cookie dough.
Cons: Mr. C’s should be Mr. G’s for Grumpy. There was no sampling and no cookie dough in the cookie dough icecream.

BEST pistachio ice cream ever! This place is a hidden gem. It’s not corporate which I love and the owner is nice and gives the best flavor recommendations.

My sister and I went here to get some homemade ice cream. We always stop by this place when we are at our vacation house down here. The homemade ice cream here is very fresh, smooth, creamy, and the portion sizes are HUGE. A small is around $ 4. If you want to sample any flavors they have sample spoons. They also have gelato here in addition to the many flavors of ice cream. You can combine two flavors if you want also in your tupperware. My only neg comment is the ice cream from here melts super quick so make sure you can eat a lot of ice cream fast and no toppings. Truly old school style. They have other locations also.
Overall great little local ice cream shop with good ice cream. Def would recommend this place to someone in key largo looking for good ice cream.

Horrible service! If i could give it no stars i would. Walked in at 9:30pm and the server had a attuide like she doesn’t want to work there. We are tourist visiting from chicago and California and would never recommend this place as far as service, we literally walked out. We asked the ice cream server what her name was and she said none of your business! Wow!
