Look, you’re in Maui, and except for the Costco, you’re not going to find a lot of stuff that you would normally find on the Mainland. So imagine I’ve got the kids and family and I’m dying to get some pictures of the beach and the sun and the sandcastles, and I realize I’ve left my battery charger at home. As you can imagine, there are plenty of photographers to handle the wedding details, but as far as camera shops near Wailea, not so many. Unilocal!turned up Lighthaus cameras, and not only did they have what I needed(which surprised me), they offered to hold it for me to pick up a little later that day. They also have a pretty good inventory of DSLR needs as well as some point and shoot underwater digital cameras… and very friendly service to boot.

We were on our honeymoon and rented a simple camera from this store, we didn’t check the camera beforehand because it was dead and we were not able to… but i asked the guy if he checks the cameras and he said yes it’s in perfect working condition. Well, it didn’t work and we couldn’t use it on our trip to Hana. When we brought it back he tried to charge us $ 300(actually $ 299 because we didn’t purchase insurance, and I’m glad i didn’t because we would have been out even more money) because we «broke» it. He obviously didn’t check the camera before it left. Then, he offered us a store credit which means nothing since we had no need for a camera and are just visiting the island. Basically, don’t rent a camera from here especially if you don’t Make sure it’s in working condition… meaning the guy should make sure his rentals are charged so they can be properly inspected. Not only that, but i really question the morals of the store owner to charge us $ 120 for something that was broken and unable to use. He could have easily refunded our money and apologized for giving us broken equipment. I was shocked. Don’t rent here, you’re better off using your camera phone.

I wish I could remember the name of the guy who worked behind the counter, he looked like Michael J. Fox a little(if that helps). He was very helpful. I’m not sure what he’d want me to divulge in terms of what he was able to do for me, so I’ll keep it vague. But, I just wanted to say he was very helpful and understanding. I can’t speak about the rest of their services in terms of equipment and knowledge but the price, quality and customer service are all great for camera rentals. Thank you again! If I need a camera again the next time I’m in Maui I’m going to come back.

I went in looking for batteries came out with a new lens and adaptor. Though there was a lot of stuff out of stock you can’t beat their good prices. The lens and cameras are all cash only. The staff were very friendly.

The hubby needed a couple of camera accessories so we came here. Bare no frills store in strip mall, but they had what we needed. Service was very friendly. Remembering the standard«Maui mark-up» one pays for many things in Hawaii, the prices on the accessories we needed were reasonable(a couple more bucks than amazon).
