I had back pain for five years when I stumbled upon Pilates. Pilates has since wholly changed my life, and TruCore is the studio that introduced me to it and re-built my body. I literally saw the studio from across the parking lot and had no idea what they did or what Pilates was. They offer a free one time private session where I got an initial introduction to the movements and equipment. I knew immediately that this form exercise would be beneficial for me as someone who had chronic back pain(in my late 30’s when I started — and literally felt pain every second of my life). Since that time, I’ve done 85% of my Pilates training at TruCore and the other 15% at studios around the country as I travel a lot for work. The instructors at TruCore are highly professional, caring, and knowledgable. They are especially tuned into people coming from a place of physical pain. I’ve come to learn that many people stumble upon Pilates by trying to build strength while also living with some kind of physical pain. I’ve also come to learn that it’s critically important to do Pilates with instructors who you high confidence in. It’s dangerous as you can really hurt yourself by doing movements incorrectly and frankly you’re not getting your money’s worth if you’re not with a qualified and careful instructor. You should only practice Pilates with instructors that have your full confidence. For me, TruCore is that and more. Prior to Piiates, I had doing fitness for a long time — mostly weight training and regular cardio activities. Pilates is a very sophisticated and well thought through approach to fitness(the originator being Joseph Pilates if you want to look him up and learn more). The movements were carefully designed, and it’s important that Pilates training stick to the core principles that Pilates himself conceived. I’ve been to studios that modify movements in their own way, and I didn’t feel safe in those moments. The instructors at TruCore taught me the importance of this philosophy and train accordingly. I strongly recommend Pilates and I strongly recommend TruCore. Both have changed my life.

TruCore is a beautiful space and the instructors are amazing. I especially love reformer classes with Barb and Luann. Their level of training and anatomical awareness is exceptional. Reformer classes let you build strength and flexibility, just the right level of challenge. I’m pretty demanding since I have a lot of yoga and exercise experience, so I appreciate instructors who can make a class work for several levels of fitness. You can get TRX, spin, and yoga too. I highly recommend it.

I just started at TruCore in June, taking private Pilates classes and have definitely noticed a change happening in my balance and strength as well as changes starting to happen in the way my body looks. I had a double mastectomy 3 years ago and Pilates is helping to restore my confidence in how I look and move! I have also started spin to burn calories and am very curious about Burn at the Barre which I’m going to try next. The trainers are all so knowledgeable and helpful(Carol Teel is an exercise guru!) and I look forward to getting into the best shape of my life with TruCore.

I began my pilates training two years ago when I moved from Philadelphia to Chicago and stumbled on Trucore. Nothing has changed my body the way this work has. I was a personal trainer for over 10 years and have done every kind of work out known to human kind. I have found pilates to be… the most efficient form of exercise there is. It burns calories, builds muscles, strengthens your bones, creates an amazing core and makes your body look leaner. What more could you ask for? I found that two-three 50 minutes sessions a week is all you need. The instructors at Trucore are so knowledgeable(and couldn’t be nicer). I also take TRX which has made me stronger than ever. I spin for the extra cardio and it’s not only fun but a real calorie burn! And I would be remiss in mentioning how the barre and yoga classes will help change your body. I feel very fortunate to have found Trucore where clients are treated like a family. First classes are always free so you have no excuses — give it go!

I have taken classes at this studio for over two years now — I love it! Reformer Pilates is challenging, effective and F-U-N! I have seen my physique become more compact, my posture improve, and I am super strong too! The studio also offers spin, Burn at the Barre, Yoga and TRX classes as well. The groups are small, the atmosphere is great, the instructors are top notch. If you rather work one on one — private sessions are available too.
