Wanted to give a big thanks to Mark and the people at Crossfit OBX for the hospitality. Dropped in on what was supposed to be a rainy Friday on vacation for a very tough, but fun, workout. Facility was a little tough to find on first pass. Pricing was reasonable(buying a shirt does not get you into the class). I was staying about an hour away otherwise I easily would have paid for the weeklong pass. Only critique I have is that some people started cleaning up before everyone had finished the workout(not sure if this is common, but at my home box you cheer everyone on until the last person finishes — no exceptions). There was also no organized cool down/stretching. But otherwise, I had a great time and recommend this box highly. Looking forward to dropping in next year!

Unfortunately the house I was staying in is about 40 miles away from CFOBX or I would have purchased the weeklong pass. After taking one class this time with Mark, I might spring for the weeklong pass. Our workout was solely Olympic lifting the day I went, snatches in particular and Mark was very active, walking around and offering tips to everyone. A couple of his pointers really helped me tweak my thought process for executing the movement. It’s always beneficial to get a new set of eyes to evaluate you on occasion. The facility is open and has plenty of what you would expect from a Crossfit Gym. Barbells, weights, med-balls along with plenty of Strongman type equipment that we did not use that particular day. Everything was clean and well cared for as well. I think I’m in the minority here, but my Crossfit box is air-conditioned, which is very nice in the summer. CFOBX is not, and I was fortunate to attend on a July day that was only in the mid-70s. Be prepared to sweat if it’s hotter when you attend. They also do not announce the workouts beforehand. You find out when you arrive, which was kind of cool. Great facility, I look forward to visiting next year.

Exactly what one would expect of a Crossfit Box. $ 45 unlimited use for the week? Perfect. The other in-town gyms seem to charge a fortune for a day or week pass … $ 20 for one day? Nothanks. I am absolutely not a fan of Cross-fit, but an open gym with plenty of straight bars and free weights? That’s a beautiful thing. Yes. Thanks.
