One my favorite places for TexMex! Been eating here for many years and consistent and reliable! Servers remember you and take good care of you! Tortilla soup is good and they have the best beef fajitas in town!

Favorite thing about this place is that the alcohol is not overpriced. Their table side guacamole, dipping queso, and house made green salsa(not salsa verde because there is a difference on the menu) is f****** fantastic. Also, for those skeptics that go to a tex-mex restaurant for a bean burrito, you will leave disappointed. However, if your not afraid to live a little and go out of your comfort zone and get something off of the insert, you will not be disappointed. Talk to the manager Ralph if you have a problem. He is quick to fix a problem even if he has to do it himself. Best Tex-mex in Killeen.

This food was possibly the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I only give it 1 star because the manager remade and reheated items trying to make the experience a little more pleasant. Queso was cold and was sent for reheating 2 times. Chips were over salted and salsa was so hot it was barely edible. The chimichanga was soggy and they tried convincing us that it wasn’t supposed to be crunchy except for the ends… we have had them other places and they are always crunchy! Flour tortillas for fajitas were cold and fajita meat flavor was awful. The wait staff tried to be nice and make it better but they forgot sour cream and didnt bring appetizer plates or napkins. Regretful eating experience all together.

We were skeptical about this place, seemed to have quite a few bad reviews… But it wasn’t terrible. We went on a Wednesday afternoon, there was only two other customers and two servers. Chris served us. He was fast, polite, and when I asked for my second mexican martini to be less sweet he nailed it. Chips were stale, but the sauce was good. Top shelf queso was alright. Had the chimichanga combo– chimichanga was good. Hard to mess up fried chicken and cheese though… The taco and chalupa that came with were not eaten. Beef taco meat was dry. Also got the wednesday enchilada special, for 5.99 it was not bad, rice was nothing to write home about. All around mediocre, but with good service. Will probably try another place when craving tex-mex next time, but it’s slim pickens in the area.

Staff is always good here. Friendly and efficient. Food is always served quickly and the orders are correct. Have to say this is one of the better places I visited in Kileen and we have gone back a few times. Portions are a little big so plan to take some home.

This was our first visit to this restaurant in quite a while. We had not been too impressed on two earlier visits that occurred after a change in management. Prior to this change, we were weekly or twice-weekly visitors to this El Chico restaurant. We decided to give it another try. … Result?: …We will not be going back any time soon. We were seated promptly by one of the servers.(They once had a host or hostess greet and seat guests.) Our order was taken quickly and the wait then began. There were 3 or 4 other parties in the restaurant, two servers, and what appeared to be the manager. The servers were having to wait on tables and cover the hostess duties; the manager was working the bar where there were three guests. At one point, the restaurant had a couple of parties waiting to be seated and no one to take care of them since the 2 servers were busy with their tables and the manager was behind the bar. After a good 5-minute wait, one of those parties seemed frustrated and appeared to be going back out the front door when one of the servers managed to get to the entrance and did seat them. Now the food: The chips served were cold and greasy; the salsa was as good as it had ever been(and that its very good). For our entrées, I had the(2)Chorizo and egg taco plate. The flour tortillas were a little dry and appeared to be «store-bought» as opposed to freshly-made. The egg/potato/chorizo mixture was fairly mild and was tasty but also a little dry. The tacos were served with Mexican rice and refried beans. The beans were a more watery than I remembered from the past, but the rice was as good as it had been previously. According to the menu, my tacos were also to be served with pico de gallo, but this was never brought to the table. My wife had the Uno lunch plate which consisted of one beef taco and a cheese enchilada also with beans and rice. My wife really liked the beef taco, but could only eat half of the cheese enchilada. I took a taste of her enchilada and felt that it had way too much of a chili powder taste. The only time our server came to check on us was right after we got our drinks, never after we had gotten our food. Our drinks were not refilled, and our chips were never replenished, nor was our salsa. This location was once a great link in the El Chico chain of restaurants and it is sad to see that, in our opinion, it has fallen off so far since their previous manager retired.

The service was really good and all of the staff was nice. The restaurant was clean and the service was prompt. I was disappointed first in the quest which tasted like it might just be velveeta cheese melted down, the chips were good though. My husband thought that his chicken fajita was just average, nothing to write home about. I had two shrimp tacos which were surprisingly bland, not something I want or expect in my mexican food. They were also very dry and when I asked for a bit of sour cream they charged me $ 1 for a small dollop of sour cream, which was ridiculous. The kids enjoyed their meals but didn’t eat it all.

My husband & I went to this place on a quiet weeknight. The staff was on their A-game from the moment we walked in. We had never been there before & our server made recommendations from drinks, to appetizers and desserts. We spent less time staring into menus & more time enjoying our dinner out without the kids! I couldn’t have been more pleased; and I am, admittedly– not the easiest to please on the restaurant scene. I just have a level of expectation, and the staff & food at this El Chico far surpassed anything I could imagine. I never had to ask for more salsa when I was out, my water was always full, and my drinks from The bar were very fast! Dinner was perfection. And dessert– was out of this world! Some brownie on a sizzling fajita platter with melted butter and all– GETITYALL! I pile definitely recommend this place to anyone, and I’ll DEFINITELY be going back!

I’ve heard only praises regarding this texmex restaurant and decided to give it a try on a busy Sunday afternoon. Our visit took place in August 30, 2015 around 4pm. To our surprise it was empty. We thought it was slightly strange given that it is payday weekend and we all know how Sunday church people flood the restaurants. We were greeted by what one would assume front end manager who was polite and brought chips and salsa. Besides that encounter, everything else including the food was not up to par. Our waiter was a lady named Alicia who gave us rude service referring us to the menu for inquires regarding their specials. She failed to tend basic services as inquiring about additional napkins, refilling our drinks, writing down our orders which resulted to an incorrect order or picking up any plates. In addition, the food was nowhere near the accolades it receives. The flour tortia tacos were fridge cold, but the meat within was warm. The chicken nachos appetizers weren’t terrible but they weren’t fresh. In general, the food was not great neither the services. I believe this establishment stays afloat because of their liquor license. I can’t see how someone sober that does not drink, would enjoy this place or their food. Taking consideration that I’ve work in my younger years several restaurants including buzzer, waiter and manager.

This place was extremely underwhelming, and smelled like a dog pound. The food was mediocre. It was really dry and didn’t have a lot of flavors. Not authentic by any means, and definitely not a place I would recommend.

Service was fantastic. Had to wait a little longer than i would have liked, but our server was very apologetic and kept the chips and salsa coming. Food was good but if you are looking for authentic mexican this is not the place for you so please don’t cry about that on here. Food was not cheap for the amount but if you eat a lot of chips and salsa you will fill up. I do recommend going if your not picky about your mexican food.

The food all looked ok on the menu but I never even got to taste it. First it took way to long for the hostess to seat us. She wrote something and erased like four times then she sat us and we waited for our server for a few minutes before he came by and told us he would be right there. At this point I decided to set the timer on my phone and see how long it took. I decide at five minutes I would just leave because it was already taking too long. He walked up just a few seconds before time. He took our drink order, which was just water, and it was ten minutes before he came back still with out our waters. At this point I was fed up and decided to leave. This whole time there were other servers just standing around doing nothing. So you can go here if you want but I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone. All in all that was the deal breaker for me. If the service is this bad up front I can’t imagine that they’re doing a very good job in the back either.

One of my favorite Tex-Mex places that I’ve been coming to for years. With every meal, they include crispy tortillas and a zesty but sweet sauce that has a mild heat. I enjoy their crispy tacos and burrito con queso. My favorite menu item is «El Caballero» which is a beef burrito with chili con queso, chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce, cheese and onion enchilada with chili con carne, and a crispy taco. It comes with rice and refried beans. The service is always prompt and I’ve never had a bad experience in the 20 years of coming here. This place has always been a family favorite…
