Do not eat here !! There was a roach in the shrimp.. Crawling and the cook tried to hide it. But the roach came back out from underneath !!! Gross!!! It was a German roach which means they are infested !

This place was recommended to my husband and I by countless people. We definitely miss Sushi so we decided to give it a try… whomp whomp whomp. I need to remember that people here don’t know what good food tastes like. We already expected the fish to be a little old considering it’s central Texas and not the coast of Monterey, Ca. but this was just bad! We received fairly good service. The place is tacky and considering where it’s located and how the food isn’t so fresh, it’s kind of pricy. I do hear that for lunch sushi is half off but I’m not about to go again.

Dinner was good, we were seated at the hibachi. Our chef did the standard hibachi tricks and jokes. The sushi I had was good, and the serving size was decent. The outside look and as well as inside could use an upgrade, but it wasn’t a big deal. Kinda pricey, i’ll seldom come back here, butI think it’s worth a try if you’ve never been.

when you step inside, you can forget that you’re in Killeen. In other words, it’s both clean and classy. The grill is awesome and the chefs do the normal tricks like the onion volcanoes. It’s expensive but not unreasonable. The parking lot is enormous as it is right next to O’mart.

My girlfriend and I were celebrating her birthday. We had just driven in from Dallas and knew that we were going to be getting to the restaurant late. We called and asked what time they seated until. They said 10pm for hibachi and 10:10pm for sushi. We arrived at the restaurant at 9:34pm. The hostess asked if we could still be seated for hibachi; it was too late. Well, no big deal we know it is late and 2 people is not worth it for hibachi. They seated us for sushi. At this time we were still in good spirits. The waitress was friendly, the NFL draft was on the TV close by, and all is well. We did notice a very unpleasant odor in the restaurant, but we just overlooked it. This is where our experience started going downhill. The waitress forgot my house salad, the tuna sushi was not very good. They turned off the TVs and started turning on the house lights(all except the lights over our heads). All this mind you happened before we received our entrée and we were seated no later than 9:35pm! About this time we received our entrees and started eating… again in decently good spirits. It was her birthday we were being positive, and the staff was polite enough to leave the light over our heads off. Well, about this time officer Dearing with Killeen Police Department, who we guess does side work for them, decided to it was time for us to go. He turned on the lights over our heads. Then he went back to the bar area and turned the NFL draft back on for himself(where we could not see). Mind you both of us had been watching it while waiting for our food. There were no employees in our area cleaning. As a matter of fact, after taking our order we never saw our waitress again until she came with the check when we finished eating. I have never felt so unwanted. If they were going to turn the lights on in 15 mins, they should not have seated us. And if the rent-a-cop who is paid shift pay is the one deciding about customer service and ambiance then no wonder we had a bad experience. He just wants to leave! I would like to point out that we didn’t say it was her birthday, we didn’t have unrealistic expectations for the service we would get that late at night. We just wanted to have decent service and not be given the cockroach treatment. To recap, we got incorrect info over the phone, arrived 25 mins before the posted closing time, the place smelled like vomit, they forgot part of our order, the tuna sushi was not very good, the waitress NEVER checked on us, the off-duty KPD officer Dearing turned the light on us 2mins after we got our entrees after the employees left that light off so as not to bother us. We considered asking for the manager, but decided it would be futile. Instead I have decided to share this experience with you fine people!

Sushi is a very distinct dining experience where at its best it can be very trendy and posh or amazingly traditional and foreign. Naturally, when finding one of the highest grade most decadent atmospheres in modern sushi dining Killeen is at the tip-tops of every list. That is if you live in a trailer park and consider Jerry Springer an educational mentor. Of course you can find small deficiencies with Nami’s like its sushi chefs and waiters are Korean rather than Japanese’s, the décor and ambiance is strikingly similar to Benihana’s, and forget about the fact that it is one of the most expensive restaurants in the area. Let’s look at what we do have. We have an area, Killeen/Fort Hood that is almost void of all knowledge that sushi even exists. I do not consider a smörgåsbord, all-you-can-eat, buffet as a viable option for eating sushi. So, I’m not telling you to charge up the hybrid and come on down from Dallas for a truly magical experience but what I am saying is that if you are looking for a place for date night and you don’t feel like Ryan’s all you can eat. Give Nami’s a try. Sometimes you have to use the old sliding scale when grading here in Killeen. They did give us the monster role.

Visited on a Tuesday night about 8pm and was told it was a 15 minute wait for a table, so we decided to sit at the sushi bar. The spicy tuna rolls were okay, but the tempura fried monster rolls were excellent. Great flavor and texture. Chopsticks are out, but forks too. Had to wait a little longer than I would have liked for my beer, but that may have been due to sitting at the sushi bar. The outside of the place is deceptive to the nice atmosphere inside.

My husband & I sure miss fresh sushi back in California. This place reminds of Benihanna back in California & Benihanna was way better. When my family & I first tried this place out, it wasn’t really busy but they told us it would be about 20 to 25 mins & I kid you not that I see a bunch of available sits. After we waited for about half an hour, they seated us where it was empty for the 30 mins we had waited. My husband & I just looked at each other like Ok… It was so dim in there, & they did not have a lot of sushi variety or any special rolls. On top of that, it was so expensive! I have eaten expensive sushi before but it was worth it because of the quality, taste, presentation, & service, but this was not worth it at all. My son had the Udon & it was so greasy. I’m so upset & so was my husband & he rarely gets upset. Our waitress was horrible, we had to keep asking for someone to fill our water every single time. I think I’ll stop from here. To my husband who is Korean, but I’m sorry to say that these Koreans suck at making sushi here & I’m sure he agrees, hehe.

I am so glad Fred wrote a good review of the steaks on the sushi bar listing because the sushi sucks. This review is for the SUSHIBARONLY. I know good sushi, I know excellent sushi, and this is some real garbage by Koreans that are basically fish cutters. Their presentation shows no pride or artistic attempt whatsoever. The fish in the case is all open and cross contaminating flavors. The Nori boxes are left open all night making the Nori chewy and hard to bite through. They have no specials and I was told by one chef there that their customers don’t know good sushi so they don’t waste the money to buy it. I have been ill more than once from eating here and the sister store in Belton Tx. I will give a place a second chance, but not a third. Last night in Belton the chefs were rude, and kept turning their backs on us to watch a football game. They were surly and told us how we were to get our sushi. The only other people at the bar were eating table food. Stay away from this place if you value your stomach and health.

This place was pretty good, but nothing outstanding by any means. They have good steak and the little show they put on is mildly entertaining, but my sushi wasn’t all that amazing– especially not for the price. And call me a snob, but I’m just not crazy about having to share the same table with and eat elbow to elbow with a stranger who may or may not have bathed in a while. Also, the girl who was waiting on us, was completely and utterly clueless. We asked her multiple questions about different menu items and options, and she had absolutely no idea what was going on. But if you like dishes like chicken fried rice and steak, it is a good place to go– I just don’t know how authentically Japanese it is…

Where I’m from, we KNOW authentic Japanese cuisine & this definitely was not it… owners are Korean, as well as the sushi chefs. The hibachi«grillers» are Asian, but definitely NOT Japanese. BUT – it’s the closest you’ll get in town. Being that I’ve had SUPERB Japanese food back home, I can only say that Nami is average & definitely nothing to write home about. I will say that if you’re itching to satisfy your curiousity or the craving – you should surely give Nami a try. Sushi is ok. Try the crunch roll… it isn’t on the menu b/c it’s a «special»…& I looove the ginger dressing on the house salad! P. S.–you’ll get a better deal eating there at lunch time. 1.) there’s lunch specials-bento box lunches w/the works 2.) prices are nearly HALF of what you’d pay for exact menu/dishes that are served for dinner! Major gripe – they now charge $ 8 if you share a meal… w/c is the most ridiculous thing ever!

Having read the other review, and then driving into a strip mall to meet my friends, I wondered if Nami were such a great choice for dinner. Well looks can be deceiving! I don’t know about the sushi, but the steaks were great. We had to wait awhile for one of the tables, but it was worth the wait. as our chef was very talented and entertained us – I didn’t catch the egg in my mouth, but the onion volcano was pretty cool –and it was a lot of fun overall. My only real complaint was that my rice came way too soon and was thus cold when my steak was finished. The pot stickers were pretty good however, as was the salad. I think for the five of us it came to around $ 80 so it doesn’t fall into the category of somewhere I’d eat a lot, but I’d definitely go back again, especially with a group of people.

Great food and a decent atmosphere. They have recently started reducing their portion sizes and they no longer allow you to «share» meals at lunch. This is America. I can share my lunch with whomever I want. We still like their sushi, but the portions are kind of small for the price. Go to Wild Wasabi for more interesting, great tasting sushi and better prices.
