I came for a sandwich. I left with a lesson in anthropology. The Dough Depot introduced me to a culture that I hadn’t experienced since accompanying my grandmother to flea markets. The place was packed, and my colleagues and I accounted for(nearly) the entire male population. If you MUST have a scarf tree, God’s Heart pendant, and rhinestone dog collar with your grilled cheese sandwich, this is the place.

You have to have the Roast Beef & Cheese with Jus! On the pretzel bread of course! I wish I lived closer, I would eat here everyday! Price point is great! This is a must for anyone who has yet to have Dough Depot!

Had the Madarin Orange salad with a hot ham and cheese sandwich. Quite possibly the best salad I have ever had(with a homemade strawberry vinegrette dressing). Sandwich was madr with homemade pretzel bread. Told the wife that if I ever became a vegetarian, I coule live off that salad. Not a chance though, since pork steaks, pork loin and bacon exists. Sandwich was very good yoo — prices very reasonable!

I was thinking this was gonna be a donut place, but it’s NOT. They are famous for their yummy pretzel bread and they have really good sandwhiches. MMMMM I am craving one now. Very reasonable and yummy. If you are in Kimmswick you should give this place a try.

Today I had lunch with Holly H., the Dough Depot Duchess, and it was awful. No, I’m totally kidding. My food was great and quite reasonably priced! The Dough Depot is located in historic Kimmswick.(I’ve never heard Kimmswick described any other way.) I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a casual, sit-down restaurant with table service. They’re closed on Mondays, but they’re open from 10:30 to 4:00 Tuesday through Friday and from 10:30 to 5:00 on the weekend. When I’m going to a new place, I typically peruse the online menu prior to my visit to get an idea of what I might want. I want to know what’s available, but I never make a final decision in case their online menu isn’t current. That was the case today. Holly indicated they had a few new menu items and that prices had increased just a bit. Currently, The Dough Depot offers salads, soups, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and desserts. Their sandwiches are served on pretzel bread, but you can substitute a different type of bread if desired. Though, I’m not sure why you’d want to. The pretzel bread is delicious! I ordered a whole Depot Deluxe sandwich on pretzel bread. It was served warm with beef, turkey, ham, cheese, lettuce, and tomato.(It also comes with mayo, but I omitted that.) The sandwich was quite good, but I almost wished I was eating just the bread. Mmm, pretzels… It was like a sandwich on a warm, soft pretzel. In fact, that’s kind of exactly what it was. When you order a whole sandwich, it is served with chips and a pickle spear. I received a bag of Lay’s potato chips, perfect for taking home to my husband. Combo options, without the chips and pickle, also are available: –A whole sandwich with any small salad or soup –Half of a sandwich with any small salad or soup –A small salad with soup I reallllly wanted a dessert. The gooey caramel sundae(made with gooey butter cookies), the funnel cake à la mode, and the fluffernutter were calling my name. Unfortunately, I had to pass because I’m trying to lose some lbs. Maybe next time! I’m a pretty quiet person, so with my lack of verbal ooh-ing and aah-ing, Holly probably thought I wasn’t impressed with the place. That wasn’t the case at all! On my way out, I even grabbed a bag of their pretzel bread buns. My total for water, the Depot Deluxe, and four pretzel bread buns was around $ 11(plus tip). Like Holly said, you can easily spend that much at a place like Bread Co. The Dough Depot was so much better, and I have four pretzel buns for making sandwiches at home! Get yourself to Kimmswick as soon as you can. Have some pretzel bread, and visit the local shops! Just plan to make it an early day! In Kimmswick, things wind down around four o’clock.

Amazing! This place has wonderful food, a menu full of choices, and ridiculously great prices. From snacks like pretzel pizza bites with provel cheese(these were awesome), to pastas to pretzel bread, this spot is outstanding. Better food than the Blue Owl and much better prices. I had a hot roast beef and provel sandwich(ohh, St. Louis provel!) on pretzel bread with a mandarin orange salad. What a deal! It’s small but cute. Gift shop too. Such a gem. Still in awe over the low prices.

This was my first time here and my wife and son’s second time. Everyone was friendly and the food was good and not expensive. Order any of the sandwiches which are good, but what makes them better is the pretzel bread. What makes it worth the drive out are the desserts. We all picked the same one, funnel cake a la mode, each with a different flavor of ice cream(they have about 10 different flavors). We picked cotton candy(that would be the 13 year old), cookie dough, and butter pecan. Super delicious. I’m sure we will go again.

Had awesome lunch in Kimmswick. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait. but was ONLY about 10 minutes. I had my usual. mandarine orange salad with market street sandwich on pretzel bread(of course) combo and their iced tea is the best. Needs more than 5 stars.

My wife has been bragging on this place for years, and since it was so nice outside this weekend, she asked if I would be interested in going here for lunch. I’m always up for trying something new, so off we went. It’s located in Kimmswick, next to several cute little shops, and just down the street from The Blue Owl. We were able to find some street parking nearby, and made a short walk over to the restaurant. When you walk inside, it will take you back to when you used to hang out at you grandma’s house. This place certainly has a lot of character and old time charm. At first we tried to sit inside, but were told the wait would be 20 minutes. We didn’t want to wait that long, and my wife mentioned that we could order from the full menu from their outside window. Since it was such a nice day, this was a good move. Although it was a bit windy, we still enjoyed being outside. As for the food, my wife ordered a combo that included a turkey club and a side salad. I ordered the chicken ranch sandwich which came with chicken, cheese, bacon, and ranch, all on a pretzel bun. It also came with a side bag of lays potato chips. My sandwich was very tasty, and the pretzel bread is a nice touch. My wife enjoyed her meal as well, and mentioned this is something she had ordered during one of her previous visits. We weren’t hungry enough to try any desserts, but my wife tells me they’re great. Maybe next time I’ll get some desserts, which could boost my review to 5 stars. Overall, this a cute little place with good food, and it’s VERY affordable. The two of us ate here for a total of $ 20. The only downfall of this place is the hours. If you’re not coming for lunch during the week or on the weekends, you’re going to miss out. I think they close around 5 on the weekends. Give this place a try if you’re ever in the area.

This little town has grabbed my interest lately since my office is literally 1 mile away and the company I work for bought a booth for this town’s strawberry festival. Plus, I wasn’t too sure of what this place was all about, but I had a decent idea. Thankfully, my Unilocal comrades from nearby this area have excellent opinions and I’ll find myself swaying in their direction… letting their experiences guide. Okay, the Dough Depot is totally cool! And… I don’t really know how to convey a review without totally ripping off other’s reviews, because one’s like Holly’s hit the nail on the head. They do have that old historic building with the cute little shop in the front and a small cozy dining area in the back. The wait time to sit inside was 30 min and I was just one head… the place was packed. mind you this was around 12:25 pm when I had arrived. That’s your prime lunch time… time. I was asked by a waitress if I’d like to be seated or go out to the patio where there is no wait time, order at the window, and they just bring out your order. What do you all think I chose? It’s a gorgeous day today, the sun’s out, some clouds for shade, and a teasing breeze… the patio was big, and seating plentiful. Honestly, I don’t know why anybody chose to sit inside and take the wait? After scanning through all the options they had to offer, I had opted for what they told me was the hometown favorite. The«Marketstreet Special», smoked turkey, ham, bacon, and provel cheese served warm with mayo, lettuce, and tomato all in between their«famous» pretzel bread. The entrée was served with a bag of lay’s potato chips, pickle spear, and I had their freshly brewed sweet tea. There’s a saying that«less is more»…and it was delicious in all it’s simpleness. I was really fond of the town’s atmosphere, and although the visitor’s seemed touristy I noticed a great percentage of locals here too. When I see the locals here and vouching for what they’ve got here… it speaks volumes to me. I’ll definitely come back here! There are plenty of other things on their menu I’m dying to try. They look like they have A LOT of great Ice Cream options and the since the summer time is here now… it’d be great to get a cool treat from a spot like this. Also, a heads up to the ladies who gotta get their wine fix too. I noticed they have a nice variety of «Frozen» Wine drinks, and their 16oz(largest) is only $ 4.00!

Great little café. I had the grilled cheese and chili. Both were excellent choices. It was hard to choose as everything on the menu sounded delicious. I will definitely be back!

Fantastic food served in a very cosy, quaint environment! We opted to eat here rather than a more famous place down the street based in a recommendation from a Unilocal friend. GOODADVICE!!! The pretzel bread that sandwiches are served on is fantastic!!! I had what they call the best grilled cheese in the world. And you know what? It was! It had two kinds of cheeses and complimented the pretzel bread well! My other half had a BLT and loved it! My little sidekick had a hot dog and fries and was in heaven! They have a small shop in the front where they sell Christmas ornaments and other cute craft items. The people there are sooo nice. They didn’t bat an eye when my little sidekick decided to show them her thriller dance that she learned at the YMCA this summer… In a small room full of breakable items. They just told her what a good dancer she was and genuinely smiled. So great food at great prices served by the nicest people you will ever meet in one of the most charming historic buildings you will encounter! I highly recommend!

The next time you venture to Kimmswick, do yourself a favor and give this place a try. The Dough Depot is slowly gaining popularity because it serves better food(at lower prices) than it’s overrated competitor that serves those mile high pies. You all know who I’m talking about. The restaurant is located in an old historic brick home in the heart of Kimmswick. It’s super charming inside… like sitting in Grandma’s dining room. They have a small shop located in the front of the restaurant where they sell homemade jams, ornaments, small crafts, etc. The one drawback is that it is only open until 4:00 or 5:00, as most shops and restaurants are around there, so plan for lunch or an early dinner. They are famous for their pretzel bread, and for good reason. They offer a variety of sandwiches served on the bread, pretzel bread pizza, or you can buy the bread plain. They also serve several delicious salads, soups, chili, pastas, appetizers, and homemade desserts. They offer great soup /salad /sandwich combo deals that are priced no more than $ 7.99. I’m a creature of habit and almost always choose the same combo: a turkey club sandwich served on warm pretzel bread with bacon, American & swiss cheese, and garden toppings; and an Italian salad with pepperoni, provel cheese, black olives, and red onion. The desserts all look fantastic, and it’s my personal mission to try them all. A few of the selections are strawberry shortcake, funnel cake or brownie a la mode, gooey butter sundae, root beer floats, shakes, and malts. No dessert is priced over $ 3.99. Yes, you read that right. I’ve become a regular here in recent years. Visiting Kimmswick is like taking a step back in time. Since it’s not far from my house, I enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and much-needed break from the daily stresses life can bring.

The Dough Depot is great for lunch or a mid afternoon snack. Service is fast and friendly. The food is simple, fresh and delicious. The mandarin orange salad is the absolute favorite and better than other salads in the neighborhood. I haven’t had anything on the menu that isn’t great! The chili is great. Sandwiches are great. Try their pickle pizza for something different. The prices are fantastic. Its comfortable, quaint and the best little gem in town.

You can wait an hour or more at the Blue Owl… or you can stroll down the street and be seated shortly at the Dough Depot. Try the pretzel bread pizza or pizza bites. They’re fantastic.

This little restaurant has to be one of my favorite place to grab a bite to eat. If you come you can have anything you want but make sure you choose the pretzel bread! it’s delicious. Up above is a little area for shopping. I highly recommend you stop by.
