If this wasn’t the only ski shop within a 20 mile radius, I’d never shop here. I shopped at this Buckman’s location three times and on all three occasions, was left disappointed or angry. The first time I came in, I spent nearly $ 1000(and my boyfriend spent another $ 800) but when we checked out, we were told by the teenaged sales associate that our gift cards were no good. After politely asking to speak with a manager, he was quickly able to accept our gift cards and I left happy with my purchases and the treatment I received. A week later, I was almost fired when the owner of the shop called my office to complain about my use of gift cards that were given to our company as payment for services provided. He claimed I was obnoxious and insistent that they accept their own gift cards. I called the sales manager to clear up any miscommunication that may have occurred and he was confused because he, too, remembered me as friendly and understanding. Despite this, and the fact that we spent almost $ 2000 in his store, Brad Buckman complained that I used $ 200 of his own gift cards there because he was upset that my company gave an employee a bonus of gift cards instead of giving them to our clients. Assuming that was just a big miscommunication, I came in a second time to purchase ski boots. The sales associate was friendly and helpful, but sold me boots that were a full size too big and told me they didn’t need to be molded. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I ended up having to spend an additional $ 50 at another ski shop to have them molded and properly fitted to my feet with heel wedges(to accommodate for the size discrepancy). That shop also told me I needed a boot with a little more flex to them. The sales associate at Buckman’s, while helpful, was a snowboarder and clearly knew nothing about ski boots. The final time I came in, I needed new snow gloves. Simple enough, right? Wrong. The sales associate I went to for help was having a personal conversation on the phone and gave me a «one minute» hand gesture. Ten minutes later, she came to help me only to say she didn’t know how to order the pair of gloves I wanted in my size. She wouldn’t ask for help from a colleague and no one else was available to assist me. I ended up ordering them online for half the price Buckman’s was charging. I’m shocked to see this store is so highly rated. While the sales staff is largely helpful, they are not nearly as knowledgable as other ski shops I’ve been to, and seem unwilling to help any customer that requires they do any additional work to make a sale(like order something in a proper size). Buckman’s prices are also ridiculous compared to other shops I’ve been to, including those at mountain resorts(which normally jack up prices). Save yourself the trouble and make the trip to Pelican in Langhorne or Ski Barn in Lawrenceville. They’ll treat you well and sell you the proper gear, at a proper price… and without constantly trying to upsell you(another Buckman’s annoyance).

I was very happy shopping here. I spent more time looking at and eventually buying skis & boots here than I did with my last car purchase. Each time I stopped back I dealt with someone different, but each salesperson gets an A+ in my book. They were very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and totally took their time helping me. My new skis & boots fit and feel great! All in all I was very pleased with the service and they also have a good selection of equipment to choose from.

You need skis? Ask for Mike. This guy knows what he is selling because he is a skier himself and demos a lot of the skis there. I got a great deal on skis for my son and I am going back for my two other kids.

I had another great experience with Buckmans and thought I should share on Unilocal. The service people, Nick especially, in the snowboard shop are the best. They asked the right questions to get the board set up right. We are lucky to have their shop in KoP. I am glad the mall has not pushed them out!

Horrible service and unfriendly staff. We were in the store for 45 minutes and not one of the 5 people chatting behind the registers asked if we or anyone else in the store needed any help. Even while checking out the associate seemed to hate her job and didn’t say a word except the total price. I’m only giving it 2 stars because of the selection of merchandise which was good. Next time I will go out of my way to avoid this place for ski equipment.

I stopped in last night and scored Bolle goggles and Spyder Ski pants in the clearance basement for $ 100! That gear would have cost me three to four times that at full price! The staff was friendly and helpful — greeted me as I walked in, let me shop in peace, and were quick to check out at the end of my spree! I didn’t know about their rental program until now, but it’s good to keep in mind for the future! It will save long lines at the rental counters in the mountains. Their location on the North side of a divided highway makes it difficult to access. I recommend approaching via mall boulevard instead of 202 to avoid the dangerous U-turn. Also if you think you’ll be smart and park at the mall, you’re wrong! There is a chain link fence and a large«Sorry for the inconvenience!» sign. Thanks KOP!

Horrible customer service. I was in there today with my boyfriend trying to buy helmets for both of us. We were ignored numerous times. Once finally acknowledged, the sales woman clearly knew nothing about the products she was selling. She tried to sell my boyfriend a women’s helmet then moments later I saw her sell a helmet to a child that was clearly not the right size. MAJOR disappointment. I will not be returning to one of these stores ever.

I grew up near their Montgomeryville location, and have been to the KOP store many times. The selection at Buckman’s has always been good, and, as they’ve been expanding over the last 5 years or so, it’s gotten better. I’ve bought 2 pairs of skis here, as well as outerwear, gloves, and the rest. Every time I look for help, I’ve gotten knowledgeable advice. Buckman’s isn’t the only store i’d go to for Ski/Board gear, but it’s certainly the first.

I’ve always been a fan of Buckman’s and after convincing the hubby to take up snowboarding, we stopped here this year for their tent sale. I figured that they would be busy and their customer service would be lacking due to such a big event… not so! They set my hubs up with a great previously owned board and a pair of discounted brand new boots. He’s 6’6″ with size 15 feet so fitting him was no easy task. Our salesman stayed with us through the whole process and even took us into the main building to adjust the snowboard bindings. During the ski season, you can buy discount passes here for resorts in the Poconos. The great thing is that if you don’t end up using the passes, you can always return them at the end of the season for store credit(minus the Blue Mountain ones). Two thumbs up from me! I can’t wait to hit the slopes this year!

Been coming here for our family’s ski equipment needs here for years. Great advice and service, and great selection of ski and snowboarding equipment. Great sales occasionally as well.

Wow. Really horrible service. Zero stars should be an option. I am standing in the store right now waiting for these lazy employees to help me with the snowboard boots. Several people who appear to be employees were lounging around watching us look at boots and talk about trying them on. We didn’t want to interrupt their conversation but after several minutes, they still hadn’t acknowledged us. We stood around waiting and eventually I walked over to their circle. Everyone stopped talking and stared at me. I’m not joking. Out of five employees, not a single person asked if they could help me with something. So I asked if anyone worked there and could grab a couple boots for us to try. Someone reluctantly went to grab us boots, I think. Based on location I assumed this place would be mostly an amateur spot for people who ski at the poconos… but the extremely limited selection is terrible(worse than I imagined). We came in ready to make some purchases tonight but I would rather leave empty handed than support this business so we are leaving now.

For ski/snowboard equipment and full service it’s the only game in town(if one expands the definition of «in town» to include the burbs), but thankfully one that has its act together. Extremely knowledgeable and extremely friendly(maybe a tad *too* friendly?), every Buckman’s location offers everything a skier/rider could want. And be sure to check with them first for special deals on lift tickets to all PA destinations. The downsides? First, they are pricey as hell, but if you hit them in October or March you can take advantage of lots of super deals… the October clearance tent sale at their King of Prussia location is especially awesome. Second(and to be fair this is a criticism of the skiing world in general), going to Buckman’s, especially their Ardmore location in my experience, means having to suffer a clientele that is beyond-beyond when it comes to over-privileged and snooty attitude. C’est le ski!
