I’ve stayed at the Radisson /Scanticon twice so far for conventions, and this last trip was the first time I ate at Café Soleil. About the only thing I can say positive is that it was clean. Heh. I was up a lot earlier than what I normally am(I work nights predominantly, as you can probably tell by me writing a Unilocal review at 3:30 am) so the last thing I really wanted to do was any thinking. I sat down, I already knew what I wanted to order, but I did take a few minutes to look over the menu. I ended up having to take quite a few minutes looking over the menu before someone came and asked me what I wanted to drink. They wandered off and didn’t come back. So no drink, no breakfast order. Someone else came by and asked about my drink about 10 minutes later, and it took another 10 or so before I got my juice. At that point I gave up on the thought of ordering something specific, and just did some cold breakfast bar stuff. So my rating is more for service than for food, since I didn’t end up getting anything hot to eat. Of course judging by Neal’s review, maybe that was for the best. Took forever to get the check, then when the waitress went to run the check, some other random waiter swooped in and got it. Judging by the slip, he poached her tip too. It wasn’t busy so I have no idea what was going on.

Had breakfast here on Saturday morning. It’s been a year since I’ve eaten here — but it’s always been solid in the past. Not so much this time. I went with the Breakfast Buffet — which turns out was a mistake. Now the custom, made-to-order omelet was good — BUT that was the only thing that was good. The breakfast potatoes were cold, the bacon was very greasy and a lot of it not cooked thoroughly enough, the French toast was dried out and chewy. And the coffee was weak and strange tasting. The sausage links were not bad. I ate it — I needed something in my stomach — as I had drank a lot the night before. When I got up to the register to pay, the woman swiped my card and she asked me how my breakfast was — I told her not very good. She told me she was going to refund my breakfast — but then no one could find the manager with the authorization to do so. She told me I could come back Sunday morning and they would give me a free breakfast — I thanked her but told her I did not want to eat another breakfast like that — free or not. I was polite about it — but I probably should have accepted and then come back and ordered something fresh and hot to order — instead of that damn buffet.
