Had to go to Giant tonight — rare occurrence since Wegman’s and home delivery became better options for me. There was one lane open and another person«working» self check out. There were so many of us with enough in our carts that self check was limiting. The person who was working the register seemed to be in training with limited support. The line extended across into the aisle. there appeared to be 3 other people that could have worked a register. Please Giant management, have more than one aisle open in addition to self check out.

Expensive. How can you have no ground beef at 9am on a Saturday? Getting help in most departments is harder than becoming an astronaut.

I’ve been meaning to update this review after an experience I had here back in the spring. I had originally had given this Giant an additional star because of the people who worked there, well they worked hard to lose it. Had the most bizarre experience at their deli counter, I was waiting with a few other customers at the deserted deli counter. We could hear the employees in the back talking so we knew they were there. Suddenly one of them pops out, sees the 3 of us standing there. She then proceeded return to the back and say in a very loud(but not yelling) voice, so we all could hear, «I’m on break!!». The women who was waiting next to and I just looked at each other and said did that just happen… Well after waiting a couple more minutes someone finally did venture out and help us(though not the woman who was«on break»). That and add to the fact they never ever have enough check-outs open(it’s very common to see lines 5 – 6 people deep) waiting at the register, this place lost it’s bonus star. This is the WORST Giant I have ever shopped at.

Giant is losing 2 stars! What’s up with their prices lately? When I moved to this area a year ago, both lemons and avocados were significantly cheaper than they are now. Lemons have gone up by $ 0.50. Also, their grass-fed ground beef has become more expensive as well, by $ 1. I used to come here because I could spend less for more; slowly, but surely, this is not the case any longer. Lately I find myself shopping at Wegman’s more and more often, and I haven’t spend more dollars than what I would spend at Giant. Another weird thing: some staff members aren’t as friendly(mostly new people), and some of the older ones stopped saying hello altogether. I’ll keep Giant as my emergency store, as I live down the street, but I dread going here lately and do most of my shopping at Wegman’s.

Shop here because I love the friendly Starbucks staff. The supermarket as a while needs new — more engaged management. The deli it’s slow and under trained. Seafood area has dead lobsters unless they are all sleeping. They are failing the local community in value forcing me to go back to wegmans. Plus the offer so much more options in the fresh areas.

I find the selection here typical for supermarkets in the area, except for the KoP Wegman’s which has a superior selection. Prices, likewise, are within the norm. Service is mixed, but one thing which simply irritates is that my Giant frequent shopper card from another location is not honored here.
