Rented a dbl kayak this past weekend it was great! Eric made my first kayak rental easy! This was an outstanding experience from start to finish! I am definitely going to rent a stand up paddle board next trip. Thank you for your friendly, professional service!!! I highly recommend them!!!

First off, I’d like to say, the people are great! The employees here were super friendly, and attentive to our needs. Got a 2 person kayak and a paddleboard for a day on the lake for a couple of hours, and couldn’t be happier. We were given a military discount, free beach parking(as opposed to paying the $ 10 fee at kings beach), and hassle free handling for the kayak and board. We were fitted with life jackets and then the employees towed the gear out to the beach for us! Once we were done, we just had to leave the gear on the beach and check out at the, then we were on our way. Even with the discount, I felt the prices were still a little steep. $ 25 an hour for the board, and $ 30 an hour for the 2 seat kayak.

We had a great experience with this rental shop. The prices were competitive with the many other spots near the beach and the service was very good. The staff was friendly and provided us with tips for using the stand up paddle boards. The boards were in good condition and came with life jackets– which surprisingly made me feel much more at ease when on the board. A lot of fun and we look forward to renting again soon!

I have spent 2 – 3 summers renting from enviro-rents. Why do I do this instead of just buying gear? The answer: 1) all of hte people who work there are all super nice 2) they carry the board or kayak down to the water for me 3) and they are good with advice when I need it. I even participated in a not very serious way in their paddleboard race that raises $ for kids with cancer. I’ve taken a number of friends there and we all have great things to say about Enviro Rents. I’ll be back next summer and hope to take a winter kayak tour some winter, too.

Good stuff here. No salesy bs, just some good advice on rentals and easy in and out service. Two hours is a good amount of time to get to a great beach — bring snacks! — and back. Good knowledge of the lake. Been here twice. :)

We rented kayaks for three people for a two hour trip. The guy that runs the place was very helpful and knowledgeable about lake conditions, where to go, etc. He gives you fifteen minutes to get out to the lake with your kayak before he starts the clock which is very nice. Had a great time!

Not enough stars to express how we felt about our Winter Kayaking trip with Harry at Enviro-Rents(also called Tahoe Eco-Sports). We had first heard about this winter Kayak trip from a New York Times article( ). We called a week in advance to reserve a spot for four of us. Booking was smooth and no deposit was required because Harry wanted to make sure that the weather was going to be good for our trip. We got extremely lucky with a clear, warm day on the lake. The equipment, guided part of the tour, ability to freelance and overall experience were outstanding. The sunset was one of the best I have ever seen. I attached a picture to this review. Next time I’m in Tahoe, I may not even bother bringing my snowboard and just paddle the lake the entire week. HIGHLY recommended if you want to feel like your winter vacation took you to a peaceful place far from the grid.

My wife and I showed up looking for a one stop place in Tahoe so we wouldn’t have to drive around. This was a good location right off the beach and park on north shore as you come over 267 from Truckee. Had an excellent paddle from King’s Beach along one of those absolutely scenic shorelines Tahoe is known for. Ended up paddling through a surreal boulder field of house-sized boulders, could see straight through to bottom of the lake. Great views of lake! Great tour! Super friendly owners and staff!

We also used Enviro-Rents(a.k.a. Tahoe Eco-Sports) to rent gear for winter kayaking. Very helpful in terms of planning the trip, giving guidance, etc. However… My girlfriend ended up feeling burned by what she perceived as a misrepresentation of the rental prices. She ended up paying more than $ 90 when we thought she were in for a max of about $ 70. Also, though Enviro-Rents represents that they are in the rental business year ’round, we found them not ready for business at the opening time of 10AM and were asked to come back when the(friendly!) only person working there was busy with other tasks. We ended up with a later start to the day than we planned, in spite of our arrival half an hour before opening time. Overall, E-R is invaluable if you want to rent winter kayaking gear at Lake Tahoe, but the operation needs some improvement on the customer care side.

Perfect location! Right on HWY28, and only a few feet from the public boat launch. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. Best kayak rental shop on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. Very satisfied with my experience. Will definitely rent from Enviro-Rents again!

Thank heavens for Enviro-Rents! When every other kayak rental business was closed in Mid-October, they were there to save the day. It’s not so crazy to want to go kayaking on Lake Tahoe in October. The weather is gorgeous, the lake is gorgeous; basically it’s all the perfect set up for being out on the water. However, because Tahoe seems to be a summer/winter kind of tourist area, many of the rental places shut down for October(or claim to be open but then can’t find the staff to come in for 2 hours). Enviro-Rents wasn’t only great because it was open though. The guy who helped us(who’s name I just can’t remember) was incredibly friendly. He showed us a map of what we’d be seeing while we were out, suggested the best areas to paddle to, got us set up in some nice open top kayaks, and even pointed out a 10% off coupon that we could use(in a little holder outside the front of the store). After going for a great paddle around for about an hour and a half(tip: if you get freaked out easily, DON’T LOOKDOWN when you’re near the boulders — the water is crystal clear and there are huge freaking rocks down there) he recommended a place for lunch that was just down the street and had a delicious salad bar. All in all a great kayaking experience with a great company!

We rented snowshoes here and we think we got a good deal. Some places we saw wanted $ 15 a day for snowshoes. This place only wanted $ 12 a day. Cool. The guy was very helpful and showed us what were the easiest snowshoes to wear and how to put them on(the orange colored one). He wanted a credit card deposit first and we had to fill out some forms. When we came back he shredded the deposit and run up the total & charge on the same card. Recommended if needing snow shoes. He also have other equipment probably skis and other stuff but we didn’t look for those things.
