Excellent place right off the exit in the way to Canada. Super fast on the food and great for kids. Clean and very helpful.

OK, the food review will come later. I’m going to start with what I saw behind the counter and what I witnessed the wait staff doing. I’ve worked in many different food prep/serving situations before. I have been responsible for following health codes and making sure my fellow employees know and follow them also. I sat at the counter, the side counter, which gave me a behind the scenes look at where the drinks, deserts, and other food items are staged before being delivered to the customers. At first I honestly didn’t pay all that much attention, just talked with my wife a bit and waited for our server. It took about 10 minutes before another customer gave us their menu. Another minute or so later our waitress came by and asked for our drink order. OK, so we are off. Distracted by the menu and choice of pot pie or egg salad, we still had yet to notice much of what was going on behind the counter. Waitress comes back, order in, now we wait. This is where it get interesting. So behind the counter/desert case is a total mess. Food scraps and crumbs are basically all over the prep surface and floor. The servers have drinks everywhere, on the counter, under the counter, on shelves, service areas, you name it, and they all come by and drink out of them, while customers food is sitting under them. They also have a bus bin they get ice from, bare handed. I never saw anyone wash their hands. There was a soiled rag on the counter the entire time we sat there, that I noticed when I got there, and noticed when I left… ugh. The deserts are where things get INSANE. They had a water pitcher on the counter that they kept the pie servers in, with a murky looking liquid filled with chunks of pies and whatnot that they swirled around to clean, then just kind of shook off the pie server and stuffed them into the next desert. I hope they don’t kill someone with a nut allergy or some kind of food poisoning with that terrible practice. I also saw a server just slam some old food off a serving tray onto the counter and leave it there, gross So we got food, it was cheap, it wasn’t terrible, but the grand finale to this experience should warn off all comers. I mean if I saw this, I would have walked out the instant I walked in. So, here we are, waiting on our check. A server comes to the back of counter area with her notepad/pen in hand. She grabs a fist of napkins… BLOWSHERNOSE! Does not wash her hands. Yikes! Then she touches the POS screen… Eww, then folks, get ready… gets an order for desert. This means she has to touch ALLTHEPIES, before she finds what she wanted, which she takes out of the pan WITHTHEHANDSHEBLEWHERNOSEWITH! There were other violations, but, gross. I’ll never go again, and be for warned about their terrible cleanliness.

I stopped in here last weekend. I ordered the Reuben with«pilled high» corned beef. It was pilled high with sauer kraut, and a trace of corned beef. A very sad sandwich. I generally get a nice meal here, I stop maybe 3 – 4 times a month. I get tired of the cashier reminding me if I left a tip, or do I want to put a tip on my charge, of some other way to solicit a tip. I have always left a tip here, almost always a 20% tip, even after my sad Reuben. For your nagging policy for harassing customers about the tip, I give you a low rating. After a meal, I don’t like being harassed after leaving $ 5 on the table for a $ 20 meal.

Can accommodate vegans very well! I also don’t like anything too seasoned or cooked with oil so I asked for the veggies to be steamed plain on the vegtable salad and they were happy to do it! The vegtables were so good: broccoli, yellow & green zucchini, and mushrooms!!! Saw some vegan sides on the menu like sweetpotato fries and mashed potatoes and roasted beets.

My family and I have been going here for years. We’ve never been disappointed. I always get the Ruben sandwich and my. mom normally gets the grilled cheese but their other food is also good. The waitress are normally very nice and want to help. Even if you come in 30 minutes before they close. Our food has always been brought out extremely fast and it’s never cold. I enjoy their pumpkin bread, although it has raisins in it which I don’t enjoy so much but those can always be picked out. The last time we were there one person in our party ordered a burger and for dessert a brownie al a mode and couldn’t stop saying how good it was. Definately recommend going here if you have the time.

Too large toast. No Tabasco. Waitresses are saltier than the salt shakers. Deece breck for sure.

You must get your sandwich on their homemade bread — you must. Split pea soup is great. Prices are a bit steep for the area imo. Grab a loaf of the cinnamon bread on the way out.

Only gave 3 stars instead of one because their chicken and biscuits are so amazing. The service was terrible! Waitress was in too much of a rush. I was attempting to ask her for boxes and desserts and all I got out were the boxes and she was gone. Ended making more trips for herself. Was in more of a hurry to collect tips of the tables than worry if anyone needed anything. Like I said chicken and biscuits are amazing. French onion soup is very good. Ordered Caramel Apple Crumb Pie. Was terrible. I’m guessing days old judging by the rubber like apples and soggy crumb topping. Binghams is a place that proves you can’t have it all. :-/

Lunch at Binghams was a wonderful experience. The food was fresh, delicious and just the right amount. The home made whole wheat bread is exceptional. Our party had club sandwich, New England melt, rueben and burger and everyone was very happy. You must save room for dessert since the home made pies are amazing. Cherry crumb was the table favorite and the chocolate cream and peach crumb were close seconds. This may become our regular on the way to and from college in Rochester.

Stopped for lunch on the way home from upstate NY. Pleasantly surprised by what seemed a traditional family restaurant. Lots to choose from on the menu and waitress was perfectly happy to make a substitution for us. Food was excellent for this type of restaurant. Pricing was really good — 2 adults + 1 child for $ 27. Definitely a much much better alternative than fast food or a Subway built into a gas station.

My first time going to college in New Jersey from Buffalo, we drove by never knowing about the place until my roommate’s dad told us about this awesome little spot between Binghamton and Scranton. So we decided to check it out and it was a hidden gem. After dozens of trips back and forth between Buffalo and New Jersey for school and now work I still make sure to stop at Bingham’s for a bite to eat. It was really sad when the place burned down, but like a Phoenix rising from the ashes it came back and still has the same Bingham’s quality and charm. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. It is just good home cooked comfort food. Be sure to have a slice of pie or to buy something to go.

Great place to stop for food and right off of 81. They have a gigantic menu with diner classics and few other dishes as well. We were looking for an in and out spot and this was perfect. They make their own bread in house along with several pies and other desserts. I opted for the tuna salad with homemade white and it was delicious! After walking in and seeing all the pies, we knew we had to get a piece to go. We went with the raspberry pie going off our waitress’s suggestion and I glad we did! They use fresh raspberries and it was so tart and rich. I wish we picked up a whole pie.

Whatever you do, leave room for pie. Good food all-around, but the pie is spectacular.

I had the open faced turkey. –Turkey was moist and fresh carved –Gravy was very yellow — had a chicken soup flavor packet taste –The bread was homemade and good for sliced white bread –I got french fries and the cheese was cold shredded cheddar white/yellow mix(not melted) The entire plate of food was room temperature. This kinda took away from it for me. You could tell it sat for a little bit by looking at the gravy too. We got a slice of apple pie TO-GO. I think it cost close to $ 4 and it was really small and didn’t look very impressive. It was for someone else so I am unsure of the taste.

Once upon a time, long before Unilocal was born, a girl named Ghillian invited her best friend Emily on vacation with her family. «We always leave early in the morning, drive halfway and stop at Bingham’s for breakfast.» What was Bingham’s, Emily wondered? Her questions were answered in one fell swoop when she tasted her first Fruits of the Forest pie. A thin, snappy, sugar-glazed crust encased a dense, soft filling of rhubarb, apple and berries, perfectly sweetened so the natural tartness of the fruit shone through with piercing clarity. Her world was transformed in one glorious instant. From that day on, anytime Emily found herself on I-81, she made time to stop at Bingham’s. Sometimes she had creamy scrambled eggs and crispy bacon. Sometimes it was meltingly tender pot roast and fluffy mashed potatoes. The two constants were the friendly, relaxed service and the heavenly pies — on a plate, in a to-go box or(most often) both. She took her husband on a road trip to Ottawa and converted him. He took his business colleagues on the way to Syracuse. They both stopped on the way to Montréal and bought a pie for their host, who ate the entire thing in two successive evenings alone.(They couldn’t even be mad — they were just impressed!) Although custard-based desserts are Emily’s favorite, she has never been able to wean herself from the berry pies for which Bingham’s is so deservedly famous: mouth-puckering raspberries, spicy blueberries, rich cherries with buttery crumb topping, and Fruits of the Forest — the queen who first won her heart so many years ago. The best part about this fairy tale? It’s true — and you can live it for yourself. You’ll be writing your own version before your pie plate is empty!

Sorry Obama but this place does not get my vote. Service was friendly, courteous and efficient. The food just didn’t do it for me. My homemade stuffed peppers were bland. The homemade seafood lasagna was overwhelmingly creamy filled with frozen seafood. The country style apple pie was cold and did not taste fresh. It is a very convenient stop as it is on and off route 81 but I will choose a service area over it next time.

I entered the front door and loved seeing the delicious desserts and breads, but I am gluten-free…and if I lived on the east coast and to be passing your establishment on a more regular basis, I would really try to convince you to make a gluten-free blueberry-oat bar! At least one! But anyway, I enjoyed my scallops, baked potato and beet dinner. My friend enjoyed lasagna. This place does not have the same feeling of the old establishment that was, some of you may know what I mean… but the new place is very clean, with efficient service and good food. A great place to stop as one travels up and down Interstate 81!

I’ve been coming to Binghams for at least 25 years, or as long as it’s been around. It is, without comparison, the best restaurant on 81 between the NY state line and Clark’s Summit. Our cabin is 15 minutes away, and many a meals out have been a unanimous vote for Binghams. First, the menu is overwhelming. So much selection. The most recent visit was an excellent grilled chicken/feta/walnut/cranberry salad, along with a very good bowl of chilli. That said, if you want it they have it. More offerings than you can shake a PennDot worker’s unused shovel at. And yes, the food is good. Not gourmet, but down-home, straight up, square meal. You get what mom would have made you. Don’t stop at dinner. The pies are excellent… so good, that Obama apparently has heard of them also, and stopped in August to pick a few up. They are excellent! Service has always been good, and the interior, clean and new! Our family is glad Bingham’s rebuilt following the fire a few years back; it was sorely missed while it was gone, and would have been mourned had it not rebuilt!
