A great alternative to buying meat products at the regular grocery stores, and you do not have to purchase quantities to buy meat here. I typically get 5 lbs of their excellent 85 percent ground beef and make burger patties with it and store them in the freezer. Everything they sell is highest quality and excellent products. The ground beef is so much better tasting than the stuff in the grocery store because it’s fresher and ground from quality cuts of beef. The ground beef in the store is sold as «freshly ground» because it’s been ground by a butcher, shipped to the supermarket, and re-​ground again to be «freshly ground» but the second grinder removes a lot of the juices and flavor from the meat. KPC’s ground beef is freshly ground ONCE and has 1000 times more flavor than the stuff from the supermarket, and it’s very competitively priced too. Everything sold at KPC butcher shop is well worth the price and is of very high quality. I strongly recommend this place to anyone that loves beef, and meat in general. They also sell a variety of Boar’s Head Provisions products.

Until a couple of years ago, the Kingsport Provision Company (KPC) only supplied meats to restaurants and other businesses. The recent crummy economy convinced them to sell to the general public, giving the average joe an option other than the grocery store for buying high-​quality meat.
That said, this is probably not the place for weekly grocery shopping, unless your family eats a lot of meat. It’s probaby better suited for stocking up a deep freezer or feeding a crowd at a party. KPC does a great job with larger orders and offers several packages targeted at breakfast, lunch, and dinner meats to fit the bill.
I bought 21 choice ribeye steaks — each cut to about 1-​inch thickness. My bill was about $ 172. I gave them 48 hours notice to fill the order, but they typically only need 24 hours to put together most anything on their menu. They will give you a courtesy call when your order is ready for pick-​up.
The KPC building on Sullivan Street is nondescript with a handful of parking spots outside. The service area inside is clean but unimpressive.
The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. They will answer any questions you might have. I will shop there again when we’ve got a crowd to feed or when we finally buy a deep freezer.
