Avante

Went in with an idea of what I wanted. Melissa and I discussed possibilities and we came up with a game plan and she absolutely killed it. My hair looks amazing and it is exactly what I wanted! Watching her work in the mirror I could see her skill. I will definitely be back time and time again. Brownie points for being able to fix some less than great color jobs I’ve had in the past and matching my ashy light brown roots to my warm blonde! Thank you!!!

Melissa is probably the top reason why I keep coming back. She’s incredibly nice and laid back. She is so careful for each individual client and she takes enough time on each cut to ensure that she really wants to do the best. I always walk out feeling fresh and excited (even just for a trim). Highly recommend!

I am new to the area so I decided to try out Avante because I liked the name and they were very nice on the phone which is more than I can say for the four other places I called. I took my two daughters to Melissa (they are 5 and three years old). She was so great with them. Even though it was my younger daughters first hair cut she was very good with them and they never were scared or uncomfortable. She made their experience very fun and treated them like they were adults. My older daughters bangs came out a little crooked but I sort of expected this because she has a very odd part in her hair and I was able to clean up the few hairs. My three year olds hair looked so fantastic! She gave her a medium length cut with layers and long bangs and it made her hair look so thick and fantastic. The salon itself is very clean and has a pretty open posh design. I would really recommend this place. I am only not giving five stars because of my older daughters bangs were just a bit crooked. GREAT job and very fair price as well! :)

Wonderful, modern, clean salon that offers high-​end services at great prices. I was new in town and a friend at work recommended Avante. I had seen some bad reviews and had crossed it off my list of possibilities, but my co-​workers hair was so great that I took the chance. I have very fragile, thin, fine hair and was really worried about the possibility of someone making a major mistake with highlights or a bad cut, but, thankfully, I was in good hands. I got an appointment with Alicia (the owner I later found out). When I checked in the receptionist was lovely and the salon looked modern and elegant. Alicia listened to what I wanted (and did NOT want), she gave me a few suggestions, and the end result was perfect. She isn’t chatty but don’t let that put you off. She obviously knew a lot about color and gave me the perfect tone and natural effect I was looking for and she did it in half the time that my previous stylists took (great if you are trying to fit an appointment in between work and childcare) and for much less than I was used to paying. I’m really surprised to see ANY bad reviews for this salon. Give it a try, I’m so glad I did!

I have been coming to Avante for several years, and what a relief it is after trying a number of other establishments in our area. Clean, bright, quietly elegant, competent and pleasant staff, wine and coffee gratis, and delivered with a smile, good haircuts.
And the prices are very reasonable. I am staying!

I am relatively new to this area. Moving to Olive from NJ, I did not know where to go for hair services. So… I experimented with mall salons and the like. I started investigating other places to go when I decided to do highlights/​lowlights. I wound up making an appointment with Kelly at Avante. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted immediately and made to feel welcome. I was offered a beverage and met Kelly. Kelly spent time listening to what I wanted and making great suggestions. My color was great… just what I wanted. I loved the cut and her «blow out» made me want to go somewhere special to show it off! I have gone back several times, and every time is just great. Kelly is very talented and very professional. She takes her time with me and does a wonderful job! I can’t imagine going anywhere else or to anyone else! Thank you Avante, and especially thank you to Kelly!!!

I went here because I’m new to the area. I don’t really trust mall salons with my hair so I decided to go here after reading positive reviews on Google. I would give this salon between one and two stars.
Since I was a new customer, I did not know which stylist to choose. So, the receptionist paired me up with Kayla.
When I entered the salon, there were people already in there getting pedicures, reading magazines, etc. I was not immediately greeted and wondered if there was anyone actually there to receive customers. I was offered some tea in a to-​go thermos. A nice gesture, except the temperature of the water made the tea completely undrinkable, it was so hot. I waited a little while until Kayla appeared. She took me to her chair and I explained that I wanted the layers trimmed. She said that she does not do «wet» cuts, only dry cuts. I was not used to this, but went along with it anyway. The entire cut took about 5 – 10 minutes. She trimmed my layers just fine, but did not do any special blow-​drying, styling, or even add any product or even SHAMPOO my hair.
A short time later, I left the chair. This is where my big problem with Avante salon is. The lady who rang me up charged $ 30 for the cut. However, on Avante’s website, they itemize your experience. Styling for this amount, shampoo for this amount, cut and style for another amount. Because they do this, I felt like it was unfair for me to pay the full $ 30 for just minimal work. If they really wanted to itemize my experience (no shampoo, no styling, no product, minimal cutting) I should have only been charged half that amount.
I liked the trim when I left, but the next week, it was not very noticeable that I had had it cut.
If I go here again, I would ask for a different stylist. $ 30 is a good price for a salon experience, but not a good price for a ten minute trim.

I was extremely disappointed with the services at Avante. I went to them a few times, the first couple of times I only got my hair cut. I did not ask for anything complicated, and they provided me with perfectly decent hair cuts, although they did not do very much other than trim off the ends. My hair is pretty straight, so for me they did a fine job (although the prices are a bit steep).
However, my last time at this salon was a disaster. I went to Avante with reddish toned hair intending to change my hair to a dark blonde colour. My hair was already a light brownish colour, just a bit brassy, so i assumed this would not be too difficult. However, I was wrong, and it went horribly. The stylist told me that she was going to dye my hair slightly darker with a demi-​permanent dye, claiming that once it faded the red would be gone. I ended up with a very dark brown colour, much darker than she said I would get, which I was extremely unhappy with. I didn’t trust her to fix it, so I just paid and left. The colour did eventually fade like she said, but it faded to the exact same reddish colour it had been before, making the whole process pointless. It was a complete waste of money, and the stylist was totally inept. It was without a doubt the worst hair appointment I’ve ever had, and needless to say, I will never step foot in that salon again.
