We stopped in on a beautiful fall afternoon to a nearly empty bar. It’s one of the worst fake Irish bars I’ve been in. It’s a generic dumpy bar with a few things on the wall to indicate Irish. Woeful beer selection 4 – 5 on tap and bottles heavily slanted toward Bud products. We asked about a couple beers and the bartender’ knowledge was so limited she read the label and handed us the bottle to look at. She also stopped by to cash us out before we were halfway through our drinks. The staff serned didonterested b in customers and the gentleman thar I believe is the owner, wsl j ed around on his cell phone seemingly uninterested in anything.

We were in the mood for comfort food, and my wife said I’m in the mood for Guinness stew. Me, love the Shepard’s pie. Great atmosphere! The server error is top notch, refilling our waters quickly. Will go back again.

I came here with some friends. We hadn’t seen each other in a long time. The mood was bound to be great and the hunger was swelling inside all of us. «Ooh, an Irish Pub,» my friend Kristian said. Since it was his birthday, we decided to go with his choice for food. Little did we know that 2 and a half hours later we would be sitting in the rain, waiting for our food to get«figured out back there.» Eventually we all got our food… Well… All of us but Kristian. The birthday boy waited an additional 37 minutes to have his forgotten order resurrected. It honestly wouldn’t have been that big of a deal, but some of us really are convinced that he got Lou Gehrig’s Disease from that experience. Bright side: the live music was phenomenal, we tried to levy the check and just have it all sent to his guitar case. 1.3÷10, cannot with certainty recommend.

Best place to eat/drink in Kingston! The food is amazing, they have both traditional Irish food and a menu with more traditional American food. Even great for kids! Quick service and good music. Fridays and Saturdays they always have live music and great people down hanging out. Dermot mahoneys is the friendliest place to come hangout and have a bite(I recommend the steak sandwich– filet mignon with homemade red pepper aioli sauce). definitely worth a try.

Great pub atmosphere with music. It’s a small bar area with plenty of drink options. Be aware there’s only a single bathroom! There’s no extra parking lot, you have to find room on the street. There’s nice pub signs and great food specials.

Normally I love it here. Great wings and decent prices. Ashley and Michael have great attitudes and are always on top of their game. The bartender I had today, not so much. My soda was empty and never refilled and it took quite a while for hubby to get a second beer. She did seem to enjoy her sandwich while behind the bar, talking to whom seemed to be other employees.(Two girls also eating sandwiches, at one point they went back into the kitchen, so i really hope they were employed there.)

Ahh was at Dermots tonight and it was just one of my many great experiences there I had a wonderful time with my girls ! Our bartender tonight was Courtney and she’s just the sweetest person you’ll ever meet so nice to talk to her ! Weekend nights are definitely the best at Dermot Mahoney’s !

This place is a dive, don’t waste your time or money. I hate run down bars like this. I am sorry when we walked in that we didnt turn around and leave. We were traveling and made a quick stop to eat Atmosphere– very outdated and run down, the place was practically empty Service– we sat at the bar and the bartender was highly engaged with one if the regulars also seated at the bar. Their inappropriate banter was very difficult to sit through Food — terrible, greasy, and totally disappointing . I would never go back

The food is so-so, the service is terrible, and the bartenders don’t know how to pour a real beer. Everything is overpriced for what you get. The establishment is poorly run. Avoid this place, you can find many other places to enjoy yourself.

I’ve hung out at dermots numerous times both day and night. Staff is always friendly. I like the small comfy feeling of it. Good prices on drinks. Chicken fingers and potato skins are really good. A lot of times you go in and get to meet dermot himself who will treat you like family

Having spent time in Ireland I can tell you that over here, we use«Irish Pub» too liberally. Just because you have Guinness on tap and a pithy Irish bar name, you’re not a real pub. So, when one finds the real article it’s worth pausing to appreciate the event. Case in point. I stopped in on a business trip and found a really great place. I even met Dermot himself — a great fellow is right off the Isle. Apparently he’s usually hanging around the pub in the evening. What a great job to have. In all, good food and an unbeatable atmosphere. A true Irish Pub experience.

Returned to our favorite restaurant on the Strand this Monday evening and were graced w Brittany as our server, who left us sitting outside while she blared the music to deafening proportions and hung out with her friends who were sitting at the bar. When our food finally arrived, my burger still had the paper on it that rests between patties when their frozen. I showed her and she laughed. Some service.

I liked this place and it would have gotten four stars except for two very big flaws. Our family stopped here for lunch yesterday– we were the only people in the place at 2:00. the staff were very welcoming to our group — 5 adults and two kids. We ordered drinks and food. Drinks were delivered quickly — wait staff kindly offered to make shirley temples for the kids. Two of us order a pint glass with 2 shots of vanilla vodka and seltzer. FLAW #1 — We were charged $ 12EACH for the drinks — I thought this was pricey for such a low key pub… especially when they had a sign posted for $ 3 shots of flavored vodka. Food arrived and it was good — shepherd pie — good, banger and mash– really good — BLT good, onions rings– really good, chicken pot pie — really good. FLAW #2 — the meals were supposed to be served with Irish soda bread but instead they were served with chocolate chips bread!!! when we questioned the waitstaff she said — «Yes, the chef says he likes to do that sometimes because they are basically the same…» WTF??? So strange. This is a nice place and I would return but watch out for the chocolate chip /Irish soda bread!!!

Well, I was pleasantly surpised by Dermot Mahoney’s! I came here on St. Patrick’s Day around 8:30pm. There was a giant sign outside that said«St. Paddy’s Day Parade headquarters!» and I thought ‘oh no, it’s going to be crazy in there.’ I guess everyone got their partying done early, because it wasn’t that crowded at all. All I wanted was a Guinness at an irish pub, so that’s what I did. I got a Guinness. And even though I had already eaten, I decided not to stop there. I ended up ordering bangers and mash as well. They had run out of mash, so I got fries instead(I guess there WERE a lot of people there earlier!). The dipping sauce that came with it was delicious; then I decided to put Guinness in it. Sounds gross, but it was pretty tasty! The waitress was friendly and the bartenders were nice enough. I wish it wasn’t in an area I don’t venture to often or I would come back here all the time. Good music too! Funny aside: A drunk guy tried to start a fight with one of the bartenders and got kicked out; it’s not a real St. Paddy’s without at least one person trying to start a bar fight!

I’ve had only one dinner here and really enjoyed the overall experience. I was surprised to see a burger with the option for a fried egg. The only other place I know that does that is Red Robin. So that was the end of reading the menu for me. Nothing can stand up to a medium well cheeseburger with a fried egg, jalapenos, and pepper jack cheese. They even made the fried egg runny. My kinda style. The drinks at this place are very strong based on the one I had(Irish Milkshake.) I’m a fan of strong drinks so that doesn’t bother me and it’s to be expected of an Irish Pub if you ask me. I don’t really have much more details as of now. As I revisit this location in the future, I may also revisit this review for updating.

Stopped at Dermot Mahoneys for a couple drinks Friday night while out with some friends. The bar is pretty standard, with nothing all that special about it. They had a live band playing that was OK, and for a Friday night weren’t crowded at all. Mahoney’s would’ve gotten 3 stars if not for their very limited selection of beers on tap. Friday they had Stella, Bud, Sam Winter, Smithwicks and Guinness. Being a so called Irish bar and not having Harp on tap is an automatic deduction of one star. I mean if you can’t make an Irish Black and Tan you can’t call yourself an Irish bar.
