Super yummy! Really enjoyed our meal at Kodomo. Clay Pot beef was amazing, Salt and Pepper Shrimp were great, drunken noodles were fantastic. I’m from Boston(so my perspective on local pricing is not that strong), but the portions were huge and bang for the buck was outstanding. This is excellent food for anywhere. Enjoy!

Went to Komodo on a Friday night. It was not busy at all. Sat at the hibachi grill. Food was pretty good, and very reasonably priced. Service was very attentive. Would go again.

I’m in love with the Sweet Potato TempuraRoll. Also the house salad dressing, which can be bought in a container. Other fusion dishes have been bright flavors and enjoyable. Atmosphere is nice. Service has been good, and has been slow, depending. Always pleasant. Not that strong on English for complicated questions(like allergies), so they have to go find someone else to come to the table. It was a surprise to me to find a restaurant of this style in Kingston(having grown up there.) It’s fusion and sushi and eclectic Asia… without being a box /microwave place.(I’m used to American, Italian, and Organic/Vegan/Earthy-Crunchy as the more unusual non-run of the mill types in the area.) Plenty of parking. Prices reasonable for the portions. Was able to set up for a party of 8 without a problem on a Sat night(with reservation).

Completely re-editing my review. This place is back to normal and the food is great. Still a favorite in the Hudson Valley for asian food.

I was convinced there was no place to get good sushi in Kingston until I tried Kodomo. Not only is the sushi some of the freshest I’ve had, the presentation and atmosphere are fabulous! They have a very large Asian fusion menu as well as an interesting & delicious list of cocktails. Some of my favorites include the St. Patrick roll and the White Tuna sashimi. The Tuna Tartar, although a little expensive, is completely worth it! I promise. Since my first visit a year ago, I have been back numerous times.

One of my favorite places to eat. We generally get sushi and Pad Thai. So far everything we have tried at Kodomo’s has been amazing!!!

I been here a few times with my husband on a Friday night and I must say the sushi is fresh and it was delicious. We always start with some appetizers and then order the sushi and sashimi combo and they always present it in a different way where it looks beautiful and elegant. I would recommend this place to others. Also there is not that many sushi places up here where u can get fresh sushi with affordable prices.

Be careful if you have a gift card for Kodomo. We were given one and went there to celebrate my birthday. Food was fine. The server-in-training was very nice, though her English was not that good. But the main problem came when we went to present our gift card. It was not honored because it was apparently not valid at the Kodomo Asian Bistro, only at the Kodomo Hibachi & Asian Bistro. I think it’s ridiculous to give your restaurants virtually the same name and then not honor gift cards at all your establishments. To expect someone with a gift card to know that you have more than one restaurant and to notice that the word«Hibachi» is only in the name of one of the restaurants is not reasonable. It was a very disappointing end to my birthday lunch.

Ok, where to start. Yet another«strip mall» restaurant that is jumping on the sushi train, however I hope they are on the train headed to Japan for some authentic Japanese training. Look, was the sushi bad? No, it wasn’t, rather it was simply«ok» or «good enough» but maybe I’m a little fussy and enjoy fresh, authentically prepared and amazingly yummy sushi. I think that’s why I will always make SushiMakio my first choice when it comes to satisfying my craving for sushi, but to each their own.

This is THE best sushi in the area. It is consistently delicious, service is above average and I like the small, intimate décor. Lunch specials are ENORMOUS! Whenever I get one, I order an extra side of hibachi rice and take half to go for tomorrow’s lunch. What could be better– two filling, delicious lunches for $ 13? My favorite rolls are the: Angry Dragon Roll*($ 15) Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, avocado, soybean paper wrap top with king crab, caviar and special sauce. Sweet Plus*($ 13) Shrimp tempura and avocado topped with spicy tuna and tempura flakes. … And I am addicted to their good ‘ol, regular spicy tuna roll. Skip dessert, it is nothing special. however, I enjoy their cocktails — mine was strong and on point. I could easily eat here three times a week.

We ate at Kodomo last night for the first time with another couple and it was fantastic! I ordered the clay pot beef with ginger and scallions, which we all tried. The flavor was bright and delicate, and my husband was almost jealous he didn’t order it himself. His unagi don was the most beautiful presentation we’d ever seen and he raved about the quality. My friend’s roll with salmon and kiwi was so good that she says she wants to eat one every day for the rest of her life. Her husband’s salt and pepper shrimp wasn’t what he was expecting(it was fried) but he almost licked the bowl clean. The décor was very«chic bar» with low lighting and a classy fusion bar feel, but the music wasn’t too loud and it looked like the kind of place you go on a casual date or a special event. Staff was helpful when we had questions and the service was fast. Prices were very reasonable and the menu was exciting. Definitely a step up from all the other places we’ve tried(Hudson Valley to the Capital District) and we’re in LOVE! Can’t wait to go again.

We’ve been here a number of times and never been disappointed. Two of my dining companions are very picky sushi fans and it’s their new favorite place.(I concur.) They have some excellent special rolls, both on the menu and the specials board. The fish is extremely fresh and flavorful. What’s also special about Kodomo is the pan-Asian menu. There’s something to please everyone. So if you want sushi and your companion doesn’t, you don’t have to compromise on the quality of food. One of my favorite dishes is salt and pepper shrimp, usually found on Chinese menus. They prepare it beautifully. It’s hard for me not to order it each time I’m there.

It’s Kingston, let’s get some perspective. For Kingston, so far, it’s the better choice for sushi… so far.

Great décor, out of this world food, fast friendly service=Kodomo. We’ve been driving by this place for months contemplating giving it a try. Wish we had gone months ago. It is a tad pricier then some other Asian restaurants but once you see the menu and taste the food you realize it’s a step up and well worth the price. Everyone give it a try. In case you haven’t noticed Kingston is lacking amazing restaurants. Don’t let this one close!!!

What a great addition to Kingston! We love this place. I wanted to take the décor home with me! Great atmosphere and the staff was so nice. Most importantly the food was so good! We will go again and again. To many really good places don’t make it so we tell everyone to give it a try. Please don’t go anywhere!
