Charles in paint. Fantastic. I went to the store in pembroke and had a horrible experience. Was on my way to home Depot and saw the sign from the highway. Stopped in against my better judgment. Charles was the best. Helped me understand everything I needed for the job. thanks again charles!!!

I try so hard to like this Lowe’s but every single time I shop here I leave forbidding myself to return. I’m not an always/​never person but I can say it this time with absolute certainty. Every visit I have ever made here:
Never staffed appropriately.
Never is everything I’m going to purchase in stock.
Rarely is there a person knowledgeable in the cutting center. (Most recent time I asked a gentleman to please cut (3) 12″ sections from an 8′ plank. He said he’s not really sure how to do it but there’s no one else scheduled who knows how. He messed up a few cuts and decided to cut my remainder piece to get a better measurement. Dude, why am I buying an 8 footer if I only need (3) 12″ pieces. Obviously I wanted the last bit intact.)
I could go on, but at this point I’m just going to sound catty and miserable.
Like I said– I want to like this place but they just won’t let me.

A good hint about this store is that the early morning contractors picking up their stock for the day are elsewhere. This store rarely has the product you are looking for. Either they are out of it or don’t carry it. One of the managers told me that all Home Improvement stores are having trouble getting stock. It is interesting that when I leave this Lowes and drive to exit 5, they almost always seem to have it. After looking in the Lowes in Kingston this morning, I drove to the Lowes in Pembroke and made my purchase. You couldn’t walk 50 feet in the Pembroke Lowes without someone asking if they could help you find something.

If you know what you need, where it’s located in the store and have no questions… you’re fine.
If you’re in the other boat, customer service is pretty non-​existent. The few times I was able to find someone willing to help on the sales floor, it’s usually a condescending old man.

Worst retail experiences ever at this store. Consistently I have been given conflicting or incorrect information from employees. It’s not just a one-​time glitch, either, and it’s what I’ve come to expect from this store.
Over the past two years I’ve attempted to engage this store to complete five home improvement projects — flooring, plumbing, heating, appliances. Completed? One dishwasher purchase and install that left me with a dishwasher that can’t clean the dishes and isn’t worth running the water.
Today I returned for what I promised myself would be my last try with this store. After walking around and around, up and down nearly every aisle and being ignored by every employee who couldn’t run away from me, I went to Customer Service for assistance. Nice associate called back to one of the departments I’d just come from and found an associate to help me if I returned there. No one was there when I got there, but about 5 minutes later someone did wander by and said she was the one I was supposed to meet but she’d left to help someone else. No problem.
I explained my project, we walked off to find the right department; she stopped and ran the project high points by someone who looked like a department manager; he gave her the a-​ok and we continued on across the store to Pro Services. *Sigh*
Four employees who never looked at me, certainly never spoke directly to me, and communicated only to the store associate who brought me there were now in charge of my successful purchase. Not a good feeling. Two of them insisted to her (while I stood in front of them) that «she wants a water heater» (meaning me! And I definitely did NOT want a water heater as I tried to explain to their side faces three times!)
I finally felt the hairs go up at the back of my neck and said «Do you install what I need? It’s for sale on your website.» They continued to ignore me, spoke to the sales associate and decided that, «if she doesn’t want a water heater we can’t do anything».
Again, not a problem. I thanked the helpful associate, ignored the gang of four nearly as completely as they ignored me, and I left the store with my $ 5K still in pocket.
Went home, called the 800-​Lowes number, explained my request, was told they install everything they sell, and am having an appointment set up this week.
Hey store manager: since good customer service is apparently not in your wheelhouse (based on my experiences in your store), and since you seem to have communicated your thoroughly lackadaisical attitude to most of your store employees, I’ll go to the Lowe’s in Pembroke before I’ll spend one more thin dime in your Kingston store, since no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to get you to take large amounts of cash in exchange for goods & services. Weird.

I used to work here at this lowes location. The Staff is not very knowledgeable as alot of people that I came to work with did not have any background in this area and are barely trained just thrown onto the sales floor. The Manager himself used to own his own toolstore and failed, no idea how he managed to become a manager of a Lowes afterwards. The manager also doesnt have alot of integrity neither does the rest of the management staff for that matter. You are told to do something without much information and if you havent been around since it opened you are completely lost without direction.

If you have something simple that you need help with like looking for a screwdriver or mulch for your yard they have no issues, but if you have an actual how to question chances are you are not going to find anyone helpful, so do your research before coming into the store.
You are seriously are better off at Home Depot at Exit 5. If anyone tells you otherwise they are full of it and most likely only went to lowes for an easy item.

Kudos to Eric in Delivery who turned an upset daughter into a fan.

This Lowes is great. All of the staff is very helpful, their paint department is wonderful. Much better than Home Depot at exit 5.
