After a draining day of sightseeing, we ended up at the food court of Kingston Mall. Other restaurants in this mall are pretty generic, but Mama chef is a gem. Allow me tell you why: First off, I felt great after eating here, which doesn’t normally happen after I eat at fast food places. I had the philly cheese steak sub– the bun was fresh and the meat was tasty. The french fries were oddly good too because of the seasoning and didn’t feel fattening. We also had a cheeseburger as well as the fried fish platter. Holy crap, I’ve never tasted fish like this before, they need to do a better job of advertising it. But I would highly recommend this joint. The lady who took my order was too friendly & reminded me of my mother– I guess that’s why they call it Mama Chef!

I found a real treasure at of all places the food court in the Kingston Mall. I got a Cheeseburger meal that comes with hot crispy french fries and a drink for $ 7.48. The burger was perfect the fries were awesome. I can’t wait to go back and try all the items on their menu. I complimented the lady and found that i was speaking to the owner, Mama Chef herself was serving me! This is a privately owned restaurant, they use all fresh ingredients, and cook homemade meals to order.

It’s mall food but not bad for a lil no-name place. I was nervous when ordering a burger but it seemed like a better option then the other places in this dying food court. I was pleasantly surprised! My burger was decent and came with all the basic toppings. It was cooked to the point of having no pink but wasn’t overdone or dry. I got a cup of tasty fries on the side that had great crunchy texture. I ordered water from the soda machine and it tasted fine. They offer soda and some bottled drinks. I got some packets of ketchup and mayo which I did use to add a lil more to my burger and dip my fries in. Would I recommend it? Sure, it’s gotta be better than a soggy sub or the subpar pizza! They offer a few things on the menu, all basic but I will be back:)

I always try a new and non chain restaurant. So I gave this a try. I ordered a chicken philly sandwich and was a great sandwich. The bun it was on was fresh as it should be. The chicken wasn’t dry and had the right amount of peppers and onion. The service was a little lacking and that’s why I gave it three stars. I feel it will improve through the growing pains. I will eat here again.
