The Shop

The policy about no women is ridiculous. I had to sit outside and wait for my boyfriend but yet 3 women were working inside the place! Make it all men or change the policy! It’s a bit hypocritical.

Nice enough place, slightly pricey yet affordable hair cut BUT the policy of no women in the shop whilst you employ women is just absurd. I get what they’re going for, I really do. A men’s place. Sports or Fox News on the tv, glass of whiskey or brandy and intelligent, masculine conversation. This all seems lost on me however when every time I stop by the women employees outnumber the men, Lifetime or Hallmark channel is on the tv and I’m sitting in the waiting room with a dainty hipster from the Canteen (great restaurant btw) or a high school kid who’s poor mom has to wait outside. Perhaps it’s time to rethink your policy, at least for the morning and early afternoon hours.

Scheduled an appointment here after discovering it through a friend who had good things to say. Came in with my girlfriend, checked in, sat down, staff was friendly, place looked very nice, prices looked reasonable. Then, the receptionist told us that company policy was that women were not allowed to be in the shop area at any time. I discussed with my girlfriend and we continued to sit in the waiting area of the shop to wait and see if they’d make a big deal of it. Then, a second employee (manager maybe? not sure) came up and told us again about their policy. We questioned the logic of the policy given the fact that there were several female employees in the shop. They just said there’s nothing they could do because it’s company policy, and I told them «it’s okay, I’ll just get my hair cut elsewhere» and we left. I’m sure the service they provide is great but I’d rather give my business to places with policies that aren’t stuck in the 1920s.

Hands down excellent place. I highly doubt «Keith» even went to this place. I am a regular; I am there once a month for a haircut and shave. The stylists are amazing people. The service is top notch. The atmosphere is unbelievable. They go above and beyond to make sure your experience is as good as it can be. I highly recommend this place to any guy looking for a regular place to get his hair cut, etc. the massage therapists are also very good and the pricing above everything is very accurate and worth every penny.

Always stumped on what to get the husband. Get the usual tie, NFL shirt, slippers and robe. Finally something that I know he will appreciate. So excited a place like the shop has opened. I now get the perfect gift for him and I know he won’t mind if i get him a gift card for Birthday, Anniversary, Fathers Day, and Holidays. I love how smooth his face is after a shave and he doesn’t mind getting a manicure and pedicure, I’m just glad I don’t have to do it for him anymore.

I had high hopes for this place but like most businesses in Wilkes-​Barre area, good service and a great experience are something locals think you should get in a big city, not here. Anyway, the place is nice and reception was very friendly. I called ahead to see if it was walk in or appointment only. I was told it was both which sounds great to me. I scheduled an appointment with the nice lady on the phone. I arrived early as I try to do. I filled out a form for them and then sat in the cozy waiting area. I proceeded to wait, and wait… and wait. After waiting 35 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, I went to the desk and asked how much longer? I was told that it would be a bit longer. She did ask me if I wanted a drink or something. I politely declined and proceeded to get my coat and leave. One note, when I walked in there were two chairs and two stylists. When I left both chairs were empty, so I’m not sure why I couldn’t be seen. I decided to give the place 2 stars only because they were friendly and the place was nice but nice won’t cut your hair.
