Love this place. The grill cheese bite things are delicious pairs well with some bubbly.

Husband and I LOVE the tasting room. We’ve never had bad service or bad food. We like to take our time with our wine, nibble on appetizers, then order dinner after being there for about 45min to an hour. The servers don’t mind, and have always been nice and helpful. I am terrible at remembering wines I like, but every server has allowed me to taste them until I find the one I like! For this reason among others, we usually tip very well. The only downfall is their small selection in pinot noir. But I found one that I like so this place still deserves 4 stars! We always get the mini grilled cheeses with tomato jam — it is seriously the BEST thing ever created. Don’t let the ‘tomato’ jam scare you; it tastes nothing like tomato and is actually quite sweet! It goes perfectly with the goat cheese. Mmm! I usually order the wedge salad with grilled chicken and it’s always scrumptious! I absolutely love the jalapeño ranch dressing they use. I ordered a steak once and it was pretty bad… The only thing I enjoyed on it was the oyster mushroom. Still love this place though and will just continue getting my salad and red wine!

I loved the location! I got a great view of the sunset! Menu was good and service was mediocre.

Lovely experience and food. I absolutely love the selection of wines that they offer, and every meal that I’ve had is amazing. This is a great spot for a girls night out, or date night.

This place is great. Hate to see so many people give it 1 star reviews. The only negative thing I can say about the The Tasting Room is the service. My friend and I came in on a Sunday around 2 and there were about 8 tables total in the whole place and quite a few servers that I could see and our drinks and food took awhile to come out, but when it all did come out I would have to say it was worth the wait. We started off with mimosas and they were great and also mini grilled cheese appetizer and they were TODIEFOR, little pieces of heaven, if you come here you must try this! Than I ordered eggs Benedict for my meal and that was great too one of the better eggs Benedict that I have ever had. If management takes the time to focus on the customer service in their establishment this place has great potential to be great.

Finally made it out here, was disappointed with the service. Upon entering we where told to take a seat anywhere and decided to go upstairs. No one from the establishment came to check on us, after ten minutes we migrated down stairs. Where once again, no one acknowledged our presence. I had to get up and go to the staging area at the bar to get menus, and only then did the waitstaff realize 3 people had entered this place.(Side note, it wasn’t very busy) After ordering 2 pizzas and drinks we waited about 10 minutes for my glass of wine, had to remind the server we ordered 2 drinks. Wait another 10 minutes for that to come, but no before they give us drinks from another table. minutes later the first entrée«cheese pizza» arrives for my daughter, it was not however«cheese pizza» so we send it back. 15 minutes later the cheese pizza arrives, but where the hell are the other entrees of a salchici pizza and a shrimp pasta…5 minutes behind. Decided to order another glass of wine, waited another 10 – 15 minutes and it still hadn’t got to the table. Flagged the server down at another table, asked for the check so I could GTFO.

The food was phenomenal. I had the chef’s special, the chicken oscar with mashed potaotes and asparagus. The pan seared chicken was cooked to perfection the Hollandaise sauce brought out the flavors. The house wine was also crispy and T perfect temperature

So I’ve been to a lot of wine bars in Houston and I was excited to take my mom to this restaurant for her birthday. I called a week ahead to make a reservation for 6:30 pm. The hostess was friendly and seemed to understand when I stressed this was a birthday dinner(a milestone birthday dinner). I wanted the whole nine yards: champagne, dessert, etc. Again, she seemed to understand and told me that she marked it down for my reservation. I never received a confirmation phone call or anything, but whatever I just thought this meant they had everything down. That day, I called two hours before my reservation and they said that they didn’t have any recollection of me calling. I explained my whole situation again and they said they looked forward to seeing me. My mother and I show up at the place and I can confidently say I was very disappointed. I told them we had a reservation, they didn’t care(it wasn’t very crowded). It took us 20 minutes between each course to even talk to our waiter about ordering more food. I ordered a sangria cocktail which took 30 minutes to make(and it wasn’t that good). Our food was fine and the only thing that saved this place. What really upset me is I told the waiter that it was my mother’s birthday(as per the reservation instructions) and he said«Oh, cool.» No, happy birthday ma’am, No let me get you champagne or a dessert. Just«Oh, cool.» I was fuming and almost refused him a tip(my mother insisted on tipping him). I was not expecting anything free handed to us, but a little pomp and circumstance would’ve been nice. Our night of celebration was dampened by your poor service and wait staff. I’m never going back to the Tasting Room. You have officially lost my business.

If you are going out early this place looked nice. Unfortunately after arriving at 9:50 on a Tuesday night we where told it was last call. 10 pm is too early for a bar to close.

Great ambiance at this place. Ciera helped us select the perfect glass of wine and taught us so much about wine. Will definitely be back to try some more yummy wines :)

I was only here for a baby shower in the loft area, but very nice place. For a Saturday afternoon, it was rather quiet in here. Enjoyed some of their food wasn’t too crazy about the Truffle Mac N Cheese balls… but I would like to come back and enjoy some wines and cheese!

I have mixed feelings — the food and drinks were great. I am really upset such a nice place had such poor service. I went on a Tuesday night and waited 20 minutes for a water refill! I will come back but only to the bar area as their wine selection is very nice.

Checked out this restaurant last night because a neighboring spot that we really wanted to try out was closed last night. The place was at around 25% capacity… possibly due to it being the evening of Easter and most folks having been busy and out and about during the day. The hostess was very bubbly and seemingly eager to please us. Her energy level was definitely not lacking and she happily tended to our needs throughout the evening. Our server was just as friendly but much more low-key. She, too, took good care of us. The place looks nice enough inside. Being that they’re a wine bar, there were tons of bottles displayed but we came here with young kids in tow and didn’t try any of those. Their food menu wasn’t huge. There were about 5 – 6 main entrees from which to choose(not counting the salads or pizzas). We ordered the hummus and a cheese board for apps. The hummus was okay but not enough pita came along with it. By the time our entrees came out, the cheese board still hadn’t been brought over so we told our server to just cancel it. We ordered a ½ & ½ pizza for the kids but they brought out all cheese so they comped us a second full pie. That was nice but also the right thing to do. If you want to check out the upstairs — which we did — beware of the moisture up there. Due to condensation on the exposed ducts, the seats up against the wall can get wet and you may get dripped on. They really need to find a solution to that or they will have some unhappy customers who don’t like having their hair and/or clothes wet while sitting there. This was why we decided to just sit downstairs, at the high top tables. The pricing was fair but I don’t think any of us were really impressed with our food. I ordered the pork chop and it was just okay. Not very big or flavorful and it was a little dry and tough. The risotto and asparagus which accompanied it were fine but nothing to get to excited about. I tried a piece of steak that someone else in our group had ordered and it, too, was just okay. Again, not highly flavorful. I realize that not imbibing probably missed the whole point of this spot but I don’t think it’s too harsh to want the food to be on point. I do hope they up their game in the food department, for those who want to both drink and eat well here.

This place is great!!! We went for happy hour on a Friday evening and there was just a few more people there until it started filling up for the dinner crowd. It was pretty quiet inside but we sat near the window so we could have a nice view of Lake Houston. We had a house white blend which was okay and ordered a side of truffle fries… pretty delicious! The pizza looked pretty amazing but we’ll have to give that a whirl next time. Oh and everything sounded delicious on the menu! The only thing I wish they’d do is «wine flights» — I could only imagine they’d sell more this way but what do I know?! :)

Had a great time on a weeknight tasting a few of the wines and then settling on a simple Malbec. They offered me samples from some of the open bottles of their higher end wines which are not normally available by the glass. The samples I tried were going to be 18−22/ per glass but they were noticeably better wines. I also ordered the pulled pork nachos which were simple but pretty good. I wasn’t sure I liked the cheese sauce at the bottom paired with the pork though, I’d rather have a homemade bbq or something like that at the bottom. You could obviously make these at home, but you probably won’t have a view of Lake Houston from your dinner table or be surrounded by a million wines and a 1st class atmosphere. Live music on Fri and Sat nights from 7 – 10 as well. I will definitely be back to try other dishes and wines next time I’m in the area. Maybe I can make it earlier for their happy hour which features $ 4 beers and select $ 5 wines. I did think it was funny how their menu lists Bud light as an «artisan» beer.

I went to The Tasting Room’s Kingwood location recently with my friend, and we started off with the cheese board. I never met a cheese I didn’t like. And this cheese board was pretty darn awesome. It was just the right amount for two, and the slow dough baguette was a nice subtle vessel for the cheese. The accompanying figs, dried apricots, sugared walnuts, grapes, and jam were the perfect compliment. And each cheese was light and contrasted the other very nicely. We also ordered the truffle parmesan fries, which were great but admittedly on par with any other truffle parmesan fry in town. They were salted, seasoned, and crisped perfectly. The aioli served with it was good, but I may have liked more it if it was a little less heavy/creamy. Overall we were very pleased, and no fry was left behind. But THESE: The«mini» grilled cheese sandwiches were i n s a n e. A slow dough pretzel baguette envelopes a gooey rich layer of goat cheese and is topped off with a sweet/tart/salty tomato jam, and your heart is so full you just die of happiness. If I was forced to only ever eat one thing for the rest of my life, these no lie would be in the final running. We finished everything off with some sort of chocolate sampler, and after all of the amazingness we’d just experienced, I’m bummed to say we were pretty underwhelmed with this one. Everything was so tooth-achingly rich I could barely take two bites. But regardless, I still think The Tasting Room knocked it out of the park with everything else! The Tasting Room is a great chain of wine bars, and the Kingwood location on the lake is definitely worth a visit, if not for the food, then definitely for the views on the patio. Grab a friend, order a bottle of wine, and split 1 or 5 plates of mini grilled cheese sandwiches. You won’t regret it!

Had a great time for our weekly date night. The menu is loaded with great tapas like items as well as a few delicious entrees. Our waiter was Casey and he did a wonderful job of balancing the right amount of attention while respecting our desire for conversation without constant interruptions(I hate when that happens). The wine list is very impressive and unless you simply want to be a snob, you’ll find a wide variety of vintners and varietals from which to choose. I was also impressed that their list is not overpriced and offers a good range of price points. We definitely will go back and recommend the Tasting Room as a very good choice when finding a local restaurant for an enjoyable evening and experience.

Went here for brunch today. It was my first time here. One friend ordered the Biscuits and Gravy. They came out COLD – not lukewarm – COLD. Another friend ordered the Fried Chicken Breast and Biscuits and Gravy. She said the chicken breast was boneless and about 3 inches in diameter – definitely NOT a whole chicken breast as the menu would have you believe. I got the Shrimp and Grits for $ 16. Five medium size shrimp came out placed across a plate of grits. The heads were not on the shrimp, there was no Tasso, and there certainly was nothing special about the grits. $ 16??? – come on! Granted I’m from New Orleans where they know how to make shrimp and grits. My suggestion to the chef at The Tasting Room – don’t do the shrimp and grits if you can’t make them New Orleans style OR learn how to make them right. BTW – they came out lukewarm. The 3-star rating is really too generous. I won’t be back.
