Do yourself a favor and DONOT come to this place. I went once and will never go again. It was understaffed and the staff was incompetent. The equipment is practically prehistoric and I almost vomited when I saw the shoes I was given to wear. I couldn’t wait to leave. I would give it no stars if I could.

The Galaxy of Sports, or «The Galaxy» as the locals call it, is a staple for native Kinstonians. It’s survived, the two«great floods,» the loss of what Kinston knew as «The Mall,» and it’s managed to hang around in spite of the recent erection of several new gyms. The Galaxy houses a bowling alley, skating rink, and a fitness club. For many years, it was Kinston’s only place of recreational relief from the average life of a native Kinstonian. If you’re looking for something to do on a Friday night, try out the bowling alley. It’s a decent hangout join for the locals, and you’re sure to enjoy a few games of bowling surrounded by loud country music and rap beats. You might even try out the skating rink, in which you’re sure to encounter at least one cop a night and several gangs trying to find a place to hang. You may want to visit the fitness club located in the back of the property. It houses a full-size pool(which is actually quite nice when open). The hot tub and steam room are also a nice staple(when functioning), and the sauna guarantees one is sure to spot a few oldies walking around in their birthday suits. ;-) Overall, if you’re in dire need of a break from your day, check it out. Just don’t go expecting your«big city» gym.

It’s a great rink in which to skate. I highly recommend going on Thursday nights which are roll bounce nights with Coach Nelson. It’s alot of fun plus those are the nights that do not have the maximum amount of children. Weekend nights can be fun too but if you prefer to have more adults in the ratio, I suggest Thursdays. The skate rental prices are good and the floor is in great shape.
