This place is pretty neat. However, the staff leaves much to be desired. My children tried to engage… Not only were we not greeted at all when we walked inside. There were 4, get that 4, employees or volunteers sitting at the desk ignoring us and on their phones. Not very welcoming for children. #fail #putdownthephone Otherwise the planetarium is pretty cool and the exhibits are not bad but small. My boys enjoyed climbing in the heart, down to the tunnel.

Good for kids but not alot going on for adults. Went there thinking there would be trails to walk and things to see but was let down. There’s a cave and upstairs exhibit with some animals in it but other than that not much else to see. I could see the appeal for the kiddos but maybe plan to go somewhere else if you’re older than 5.

This was a great find on our trip to Kinston! Lots of fun things to do here including a playground, train ride(fee) and a nature center. The playground is awesome with a ton of slides, swings and even a dinosaur dig! We literally played for hours here. There are picnic tables and lots of shade to keep adults happy :) Walk a few feet and you get to an old train that serves as a gift shop and ticket office for the little train ride. $ 1/person(all ages) for a short ride around the track was a big hit with our little one. A few more feet away is a little nature center where they have lots of snakes, skinks and bugs. There is a small touch tank too. There is a trail along the river, though we didn’t venture onto it. A great place for all — local and visitor alike!
