I recently moved here from Vegas and saw this place on a drive and decided to check it out. We went at around 9:15 and the doors were loced so we came back tonight. So we ordered orange chicken with pork fried rice, and beef curry with white rice. Now they dont have a dinner combo plate so each plate was 15 dollars… 15!!! Thats a lot for some chinese takeout. So when we got home and opened the food… i was a little shocked. The size of the white rice was a baby size… not even a scoup… like what? And the beef curry only had maybe 7 peices of beef in it and the rest was veggies. I wouldnt mind that much beef if it was priced ALOT lower. The orange chicken was good but the rice was awful. The pork fried rice wasnt even really fried and there was no pork in it! I will not return due to the prices being extremely high for subpar food and very little. So if anyone who reads this review and lives in the kirkland area please send me some other chinese takeout places.

I have been coming here for years and in my opinion this is the best tasting Chinese food in all of Kirkland. This is my go-to place and it is a favorite of my parents as well. They have a great lunch special. The male waiter/host, I usually see him on a Sunday around lunch time, is always kind and courteous. Thank you.

worst Chinese restaurant ever. The only good food is the Hot and sour soup. avoid this place if you like good food. had lunch there two weeks ago.

Finally an American Chinese restaurant among all the Teriyaki! Lol we really like Chans, always fast and friendly service. The fried items can be a bit extra greasy but… I mean it’s fried… And occasionally a little dry/chewy but more so than not its delicious!

My favorite American Chinese restaurant around! I really enjoy the food and service, and they have great prices. Now that I live close again, I’ll be coming around regularly.

Ordered take-out from Chan’s tonight — won’t be doing that again. My wife and I were hopeful that we had found a convenient American-Chinese food restaurant — like the ones we each grew up with. The menu looked good online, so we called and ordered the Chef’s Special family combination meal for two. It came with several items, which I’ll detail below: — 2 cup-fulls of egg flower soup: The soup was decent enough — your typical egg flower(aka egg drop) soup. Unfortunately, my wife ended up with a piece of egg shell in her cup — definitely an unwelcome crunchy surprise. — 6 pieces of BBQ pork: The pork was thoroughly dry, and very salty — the kind of salty that builds with each bite. I ate 2 pieces, my wife barely got through one. — 2 beef skewers: These were not particularly offensive, but were certainly also dry. — 2 vegetable egg rolls: The egg rolls themselves were decent, but the oil they were fried in likely hasn’t been changed since the 90’s(when, judging from the décor, the restaurant was probably opened) — BBQ pork fried rice: Dry. More of that salty BBQ pork inside. And the grains of rice were oddly small — as if they’d been chopped in half. — Vegetable chow mein: Actually, this was the best item in the meal. The noodles were appropriately cooked, and the flavors were good. — General Tso’s Chicken: Quite a large portion, but instead of more pieces, they were just very large pieces. And many of those pieces had a bunch of gristle. Flavor was alright, but the breading was soggy. I’ll excuse that part though, since this was take-out — may have been crunchier fresh. — Broccoli beef: The flavor was there, but the ingredients made this miss the mark. The broccoli was nicely cooked, but the beef was stringy and flavorless, and the sauce was too thin. Overall, while the portion was indeed quite large, the quality was disappointing. Oh well — time to continue the hunt for a good local Chinese food restaurant.

Dear Mr. Chan, Thank you for saving me from my near tipsy experience after tasting wine in the building nearby. You’re a real pal. Like I said… I was wine tasting at the wineries located a building behind Chans. I had drank quite a bit and needed to get some grub in me(and water) before being able to drive home. Low and behold Chan’s Place was right around the corner. We were promptly seated and served both water and tea. Woo hoo! I’m happy we stumbled upon this place because you get a ton of food for your money. $ 5 for cream cheese puffs… nothing special but you can’t deny their goodness. Then it was only $ 14.25 pp for their Chef’s Special combo. It was seriously enough food for 3 – 4 people vs. just the two of us. The appetizers of BBQ pork, beef sticks, and egg rolls… plus hot & sour soup were plenty to fill us up alone. Then came our brocolli beef, general tso’s, fried rice, and noodles. We felt like fat kids but man oh man it hit the spot. You can’t beat this place for the price especially when you have a ton of food to take home! I will certainly come back here if I’m in the area. Or you know, drunk on wine again: D

Yes yes yes! We just moved back to kirkland and this is our go to eat out. It’s amazing American Chinese and it’s all delicious! We get the dr green special. Amazing! Love the service. In so many ways, the service is prompt and the other part is an experience. It’s entertaining to hint at what I’m saying.

Chan’s is a regular go-to for those nights when we’re too exhausted to even contemplate cooking. Their food is fine, though some dishes can be be a bit on the oily side. Their service is always prompt and pleasant if not particularly inspired. Their prices are reasonable, and portions are large — typically we have plenty of leftovers for at least a light lunch the next day, depending on what we order.

We stopped by with a group and they were able to seat us immediately in a semi-private area. I will say I loved the wanton soup — probably up there with the best I have had. All the food(we did it family style with everyone sharing) was very good and I would come back for that reason. The food came out fairly fast and that would be a plus. My definition of good here is Washington State good for Chinese — I prefer a little more tasty/spicy but have come to not expect that in most of the local restaurants. The service was marginal at best(what I have started calling Asian polite). No refill on either the tea or my water. We were never offered chopsticks. :( The décor is nice and comfortable and so I have no problem with going with the 3 star«A-OK» rating.

Had American Chinese traditional General Tso, I would say expensive but very large portions had enough for lunch at work the next day

Really good American Chinese. I got a light lunch to go, but will definitely come back to try more of their fairly large menu. I tried the House Special soup, spring rolls, chicken lettuce wraps and pork fried rice. Everything was really good, fresh and flavorful. The soup was full of goodies, lots of meat and veg. I got everything to go and was happy to receive paper boxes and paper soup container. The restaurant space was attractive and clean. Their sign says«no msg» and several of the menu items were marked as gluten free options.

I love this place! I’m not sure why other people haven’t given them 5 stars. As far as Chinese food restaurants are concerned, this is the best one in our area. If you’re looking for place to eat for dinner, know that you’ll be seated quickly, that you’ll be served promptly, and that you’ll leave happy(and with leftovers!). Their pick-up service is also very speedy. I was quoted 20 minutes for a dinner pick-up order. I got there right on time(if not early), and my food was hot and ready for me to take home. LOVE this place!

My kids LOVE this restaurant — one son always orders the yakisoba with fried prawn and the other always orders the sweet and sour chicken. They also like the egg flower soup best of any Chinese-American restaurant we’ve tried. As for my husband and myself, we feel the food is okay. Nothing terribly wrong with it but nothing really exciting about it, either. I have tried the Basil Ground Chicken, and although it tasted pretty good, I wish it was saucier. It was a very dry dish. My husband has tried the Kung Pao chicken twice and he thinks he will try something else next time he goes there. The hot and sour soup has a very strong white pepper flavor, which some people enjoy, but I am not one of them. Chan’s Place serves lunch specials until 3:00pm, which is a big plus. Service is pleasant and efficient. The décor is VERY outdated but reminds me of restaurants I went to growing up when I thought they were fancy through my childhood eyes. =)

Food is ok. Service is terrible. Took 20 minutes for someone to come and bring us the check. No wonder there is a 15 minute wait to get a table when they ignore those waiting to pay and leave.

I just got back from lunch with my co-workers at Chan’s and felt compelled to write a review. Very delightful and accommodating wait staff here, I could not believe how fast the service was. We were greeted the second we walked in, immediately served water/tea and a few minutes later had hot soup. Once we ordered lunch our food was out within 10 minutes, this is great when you are on a quick lunch break. I had the Kung Pao chicken which was AMAZING. I had to stop myself from eating the entire plate because a lunch serving is easily 1.5, if not 2 meals. I like how they offer brown rice or fried rice as an option with no additional cost. I couldn’t ask for better service, we will be back!

We have been happy customers for many years. We generally do the take out and food is still good after the longish drive home. Hot n sour soup is great and so is the schezwan beef.

Wednesday night dinner: Seated immediately after a short wait at the entrance. The hostess was on the kitchen. Water and hot tea served immediately. Chopsticks offered as an option when food arrived. The waiter was very apologetic about a short wait before taking our order. The food arrived in about 15 minutes. Wonton noodles: meat tasted a little weird. We thought it was too peppery but perhaps this was to mask the meat(lack of) freshness. Some of the wonton wrappers were no longer covering the meat. A no-no if you care for the perfect wonton. Noodles were done just right though. Won’t be ordering this again because of the strange flavor. Seafood chow fun: peppery and little oily but flavor was good. Chow fun was too thick. Too much cornstarch to thicken the sauce. But fresh fish chucks, shrimp saved the day. Fake crab sticks and a few customary pieces of bok choy. This is my first time here. My concensus is that noodles/wonton wrapper is not their strong point. But given the audience this is adequate. Restaurant ambiance is above average. Cleanliness is above average. Service is pleasantly friendly. Room temperature is on the cold side.

Another great dinner. Had the War Won Ton soup to start, and the«dry» Chicken Chow Foon Noodles with Moo-goo-gi-pan chicken(sp?) All very flavorful and delicious! The dry noodles are without the black bean sauce. I’ve had both, and the«dry» is more authentic, I think!
