Dala Contracting LLC

Dala Contracting just finished another project for us. We originally hired Dala last spring (2014) to repaint and do some drywall/​texture repair on the interior of our entire old house to get it ready to sell. He (Bellomi, the owner) did a fantastic job on a rather difficult house — the texture on the walls was very pronounced which makes it hard to paint but Bellomi made it look like new. His work is immaculate, and he is clean and considerate! He thoroughly covered our floors and furniture and carefully moved things around (and put them back after!). He has lots of experience and made some good suggestions for what and where to paint that we hadn’t thought of.
We had him back in our new home last month to do a little drywall repair (we pulled out some can lights and needed the holes filled) and painting of a few walls, the ceiling and some closet doors. Everything came out great as usual!
This week his company just finished a fireplace remodel for us in our new home and they did it fast (started on Tue and finished with cleanup on Fri). They thoroughly covered and taped our new hardwoods, moved all of our furniture and safely covered it. They carefully demolished the old mantel and fascia around the new gas fireplace in preparation to installed the cultured stone. Jose’s framing job for the new fireplace was excellent — if we ever have an earthquake, I’m sure that will be the only part of the house still standing! They even covered my shrubs outside near where they were cutting the stone to keep them looking good! The stone work was done beautifully and we couldn’t be happier. They are coming back today to finish cleaning up, haul away the construction debris, and move the furniture back into place. I’m so excited!
Bellomi and his team are a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them!

Slow, poor quality, and unapologetic.
I bought four hours of housecleaning services (two people for two hours) through Groupon. It did not start well as scheduling was quite difficult, but I understand that they probably swamped with Groupon customers so I wasn’t shocked when it took four days to contact them.
From this point on things went downhill: they showed up fifteen minutes late with no apologies given, the woman of the duo touched my infant son’s face and hands immediately after putting down her cleaning supplies (at four months old and preemie he doesn’t have a great immune system as is), they looked at my house and said it was too big (I had told the owner the size and no comment had been made) so I told them a couple of priorities, then they were able to only get two bathrooms mostly done and the kitchen mostly done.
Later that day I called and left a voicemail for the owner, noting that these were contracted workers and not necessarily the business itself at fault. After two days of phone tag I spoke with the owner who said that the duo (Cassie and Amien) had done the standard work expected of them. He said that two bathrooms and a kitchen were what everyone got because they did ‘deep cleaning’ not light cleaning, and the Groupon wasn’t really for house cleaning but to show their ‘quality’ work. My kitchen floors weren’t even mopped, there was a white coating of cleaner in my shower, and the towels were just jammed into the towel rack. These are just a few examples of their ‘quality’.
This was frustrating and a waste of time and money. There’s plenty of other agency that will do a ton better so I would recommend not even giving these people even a second thought.
