Colonoscopy is something I categorize along with taxes, pap smears and parking tickets; if I never had to experience one, it still might be too soon. Therefore, I was DELIGHTED when at my ripe age of 50, I found myself in the endoscopy center of Puget Sound Gastroenterology, Kirkland for my first screening colonoscopy. At this location, I had an enormously positive experience. Everyone I encountered, from the time I walked in the door to the time I was escorted out to my(required) driver, was warm, professional and competent. The facility was pleasant, the nursing staff was efficient and warm, and Dr. Ronald Mason, who performed my procedure, was an excellent communicator and clinician. Like taxes, the screening colonoscopy is not something we should avoid, and I was very pleased to find that there is a medical facility where I could soldier through this event in a manner not only tolerable but actually pleasant. I highly recommend Puget Sound Gastroenterology, Kirkland to anyone who is in need of GI scoping procedure. You won’t be sorry.

I had my first and routine colonoscopy and I thought this place was great – very professional and efficient. They get you in and out, and it’s clear that they are very good at what they do. The procedure was easy as could be for me, I felt great the rest of the day AND went home with my own color glossies, a bit too small to frame… :-)

While trying to schedule an appointment with my doctor for a simple prescription refill relating to Ulcerative Colitis, I was told that he was booked for the next two months. I then scheduled a 9:30am appointment with an assistant a few weeks out. That morning at 7:50am, i received a call that the assistant was sick and they had to cancel my appointment, despite the fact that I already took time off work. A large medical center with so many locations should have the ability to fill in for a sick doctor’s assistant. As a patient, there would be a fee associated with such late notice cancellations, but apparently the same rules do not apply to them. I would say avoid them if possible… they are clearly maxed out on patients.

I went there for my «50 year old colonoscopy.» The place is very factory like but that is not necessarily a bad thing. When you are having a routine procedure, you want things to be routine. I never felt ignored or as if I was just a number but it is clear they do this all day every day. Everyone was professional and friendly. The procedure was quick and pain free. The hardest part really is not eating for 48 hours and the prep. I will review the doctor separately but the facility is very good.
